Ok, so it's begun!

Live updates;

http://www.targawest.com.au/NEWSMEDIA/2008...91/Default.aspx

I just now heard from my mates Kennard/Grimwood who's there from Sydney in their '07 STi Spec C, blown engine at beginning on stage 2. Big downer.

Update: Just received text from Grimwood, reads "No, it's f**ked, R35 hella quick!!"

I see Weeks is first, Jimmy second, Jones in the 35 = third! Early on and I'm watching with interest!

Yeh sorry it was equal second.

Not sure if they did Ben, it's done a piston by the sounds.... putting a new engine in tonight so at least they can rejoin.

I just checked back... their "live update" is pathetic in comparison to most other rallies!

19 stages in and the GT-R has hit the front - 4s infront of Jimmy in the GT2 and a further 12s ahead of Weeks in the Lambo.

I think no matter what happens from here we all now know what we have expected all along, and that is this new car is going to be a serious weapon in the sport of tarmac rallies in the right hands.

Imagine if he had decent tyres!

Without sounding like I am trashing the R35 GTR but since I personally know him quite well for the interstate guys I can truly state it is more because of Steve the R35 GTR is in front.

Im thinking the GTR has won.. given the live results say that racecourse 2 [final stage??] stage is completed! GTR by 15 seconds over Richards GT2.. If thats it.. Well Done to the boys steering the R35!!! Im thinking thats the First Aus motorsport victory for the R35 GTR!?!?!?! Brilliant! more of that please.

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
