Hi Guys,

New to this forum but might become a regular in a couple of weeks as i am trying to find the stagea with my name on it.

I have been looking around at some private and some dealer cars and as i am no tech i will need to fork out the cash to have the car looked after i was wondering the best way to go.

i hear e & m unique motors has there own warranty and service center but has anyone used these guys? or is there a mech elsewhere in Sydney i should look at using etc etc.

I live in the inner west so somewhere close by for servicing would be grand.

Thanks all in advance

TG

PS sorry if there is in another topic i tried to search but could not find anything

thats the link to there current stock

hey tallguy goodluck car hunting, if your after a s1 or s2 and your planning on modifying ( like most of us) you might be better off buying private as there is quite a few tastfully modded stageas on the market now, to purchase a stock stagea ($12000 -$16000) and then modify it could end up costing you $20000 + and thats just the basics wheels, suspension, exhaust fmic etc , you could possibly find one locally with all those goodies for say around $16000 thats been well looked after and as for warrantys you have to read the fine print there as a lot of them only cover so much and your up for the rest and by the way motovation are on the goldcoast, they have just moved from burleigh heads to ashmore and have changed there name to people movers.

goodluck leigh.

thanks guys,

yeh looking for an S1 or 2 don't like the new shape. Looking into the warranties they don't cover much at all, but why doesn't that surprise me...

I guess i will just keep looking, private and shop i am extremely fussy when it comes to my cars so i won't be rushing into anything. Test drove about 5 now love the way they drive just little things i noticed on each that i just didn't like. I am sure one will come my way that i have to have.

I will let you all know when one is in my driveway....

I can tell you where not to go, pm me if you want to know more.

Hey champ why wouldnt you post up here and help any one els who could possibly be in the same boat? I tought this was a comunity that helped each other out? surely you cant be edited, blocked or warned or what ever if you make a post about a company with dodgy morals and provide supporting evidence, even if it is only word of mouth.

Well SAU can get sued for defamation and all that stuff, I've seen peoples posts be edited because of that before. So wasn't too keen on posting it up. Just needless to say I bought my car from a well known import yard in manly, and wasn't at all happy with how the car was sold to me, problems started on the drive home to canberra, and the first rego inspection,

Needless to say the car is ok at the moment, but I spent 1500$ fixing the car up in the first month of ownership, with an allegedly "roadworthy car" Car was regoed on the day of sale. Pink slipped by the dealers shop lol.

Fair call, sorry mate didn't mean to be rude. but i think its better if you post up stuff like this then say nothing at all.

Cheers for that and im sure U'll get alot more PM's in regards to any one buying an import from a dealership in manly.

"F@#% em" i say coz they'll do it to you any chance they get.

I'm with CeJay as far as posting negative stuff about companies goes. Negative comments (true or not) posted about any business can result in the business taking legal action and besides, I'm pretty sure its against this forum's policies anyway. Several users have been banned for not adhering to warnings given etc...

Safest way is to just send PM's.

i would definitely have a good look at private cars from some of the longer term SAU members.

most of us spend $$'s lovingly modifying things and we NEVER get our money back but knowing it has gone to another enthusiast decreases the pain of selling.

keep in mind, standard turbos have a lifespan, timing belts every 100,000km (and you often don't know precisely how honest the odometer is on your car ex-japan).

so allow a little cash to cover a few expenses in the first 12 months and you are sweet.

our S2 stagea needed a new clutch and new coil packs from the get go (once we started modifying) but my R33 GTS-t ran on the standard clutch and coils for over 7 yrs.

i would be reticent to use a dealer with their required commercial mark up plus the warranties offered are pretty weak.

I got mine imported thru Prestiege in WA. It was complied on the GC by Iamshe, no relation to Iamhe, lol,

Both were EXCELLENT. My 96 S1 has only needed a tierod end. It had 96 on the clock when it arrived.

Next Stag I get will be bought the same way.

I guess its a matter of luck, or clean living, that deals you the best or worst.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all your help (here and the PM's) with looking for my stag. But due to investments not quiet going the way it was intended to i am now not in the position to get a stag... it is amazing what can happen in the space of 2 weeks.... hopefully this situation can right its self soon and i come back here to show of an Autech beast...

I will be keeping any eye on here for all your constant tips and tricks...

THANKS

    • Found the answer: it wont fit without a bit of work- you'd have to change the guards as well
    • Ok cool, because I do have some OEM BMW options for light(er) wheels. 17x8.5 M Sport wheels are 11kg and I could put 255's on them. Maybe that's an initial test.
    • So, in the effort of pulling apart airboxes and testing enclosures to see if this aids in MAP loss at WOT I noticed: 1) The ducts up the OEM intercooler holes from the front bar help IAT drastically, whether the pod is shielded from the engine bay by an airbox missing a lid, or an airbox WITH a lid. Plus you get more induction sound without the lid. Having half the airbox (with no lid) acting as a barrier to the headers seems to help. 2) For shits and giggles I checked the TB. This was full pedal travel. This is actually full travel of the TB. Photos aren't perfect, but there was definitely an amount of play in it and it wasn't against the stop. After much swearing and adjusting the pedal, I realised that the cable is actually too long for the skyline pedal travel to fully articulate it. Having the pedal adjusted so WOT was actually hard open on WOT resulted in an idle of 3500rpm. As an aside, this was also the TPS registering at 3.1%. I removed the above to give the pedal enough travel to actually fully open the TB. I now get a satisfying 'thonk' on full open and full closed which you can hear pumping the pedal as it hits the TB stops (with the bonnet open and intake back on). Luckily for me, the screw screws into a raised metal boss under this plastic piece that is now acting as the new throttle stop. I've gained about 20mm (ish) of pedal travel and I can move it maybe a mm or two post open-thonk before it's hard against the stop. After all of this I did a bit of road tuning because a 102MM throttle is sensitive. The difference between holding an 950rpm idle and instantly stalling is about 0.4% of TPS movement. Will that help? I suppose it can't hurt. I set 'closed' point back to where it was, I can definitely feel the extra pedal travel that is needed to actually open the TB fully. But this morning I dropped the car off at Paint Jail again, so who knows when this will re-eventuate out to see if it helps with the top of the dyno hitting a ceiling.
    • Take heart that everyone else seems to have found a way. The OEM S1 indicators do slot in pretty firmly. It may simply be a case of having them sit slightly looser and nobody actually ever noticed this when attempting to remove a indicator from a JSAI bar :p
