Great - Joy for all the GTR drivers and the extra police heat this will bring.

[Ken]: there is a HUGE difference between a run down the old pac and drag racing through public streets be it in an industrial or residential area at obsurd speeds.

And thats most definately not Merlis car

I know you were joking, but please don't ever associate or label me in the street drag racing crowd. You know very well how against street racing I am.

I'm not l33t enough to street race.

I must admit, I have been to these things a few times, I have enjoyed them, I even raced once against better judgement. guy in the silvia was a toss that needed a lesson.

However, saying that, I prefer actual driving and try to stay away from these things now as it brings attention that isn't needed to the import crowd. that is near my dads work so I will ask him about it tonight.

the people that generally go to these meets are (and I dont mean all ) the younger generation which are just getting into the car scene, most of them go in their parents car , i must admit i was part of the younger generation once and was involved in similar activities... i dont blame them i look at the older ppl that seem to encourage the younger ones in participating in what is an uneventful night that brings nothing but loss of licence and big fines all in all if you want to do it , bring it under the lights or sit on the hill theirs no point catching a cold , loosing privileges and working for the already rich police force

Why is that so? People crash on Old Pac and nasho frequently, probably more often than in street racing. Cyclists and traffic travel these roads daily. How can you oppose one and not the other? Is it because they got this group got busted and are attracting unwanted attention? People get busted on OPH all the time.

I should have known it wasn't you merli you were too busy punching donuts @ @ krispy kreme :(

whoa, i was at the runs on saturday night at ceveal st and somewhere else. Lots of cars there man, filled the entire street. It sure is the younger generation, nearly every car had a P plate whether it be red or green. There was a few skylines and 1 GTR, neither of them raced though. My friend (32 gts) had a couple races while we were there too. However if I get a skyline (please god?) I would not take it down there what so ever. I own it for my own pleasure and pride, just like you guys.

I have never participated in any of these 'runs' but often attend. I know its wrong and id hate for anything to go wrong but to tell you the truth it's pretty damn exciting to watch, knowing that its illegal and that the consequences of getting caught or getting it wrong are huge.

Id much prefer a cruise through old Pac however, anyone up this Sat nite?

...old pac is not public road?? lolz...big contradiction there Blitz.

whether thru old pac, nasho or industrial streets...the danger is there

You guys arguing that Old Pac is just as dangerous as illegal drags aren't comparing apples to apples.

I know that Nick takes it quite easy up the Old Pac, and the speed at which he drives it is quite safe.

The way that VISHES, Kabab, and [Ken] drive it is a LOT harder and a lot more dangerous. I was in front of my cousin when he lost control and spun onto the other side of the road whilst doing an Old Pac run. He's very very lucky that there wasn't another group doing an "Old Pac run" coming the other direction. I think we can all imagine the carnage that would result in two cars hitting whilst fanging up the Old Pac in opposite directions.

During my younger years, I used to hit some insane speeds on the Old Pacific Hwy, and looking back on it, there is no other word to describe it than "insanity". Pure and simple. I don't even hit those speeds on the straight of Eastern Creek ugh.gif

Insanity.

street racing is farken fun! i don't condone it but im not going to lie either!

racing up the old pac is farken fun! i dont condone it, but im not going to lie either!

drag racing at eastern creek is fun, costly and timely and actually, its not that exciting if the car isnt doing 13 seconds or better passes :)

trackdays are farken ultra fun (at whatever lap time your doing) but its costly!

i dont know what point im trying to make here. i just wanted to say i enjoy my car in many facets, i just hope some people use some common sense when they are out having fun in their cars - because when they come unstuck its very costly.

people should also respect the police because they deserve it.

oh, and merli - i dont think you're being insane, i think you're just enjoying your car.

and id say the reason why you see soo many p platers at illegal street meets is because arent they required to display them till they are like 20 yrs old these days!?

i highly doubt that cars in attendance consisted of Skylines and WRX's.

I know alot of P platers are driving around in skylines and other fast cars but please, can the media be any more bias ?

Those who got caught at the illegal drags deserved what ever they got, those who got away, try and learn from the experience.

    • So stock ECU does not like anything above 10 psi?  That Nistune one is just for "try" if it will be any different, I know it need to be tune for that. I know but YOU may know about these problem but i/we dont. They few little Skylines here let alone people who know anything about tham so that is why iam asking here
    • So now we have a radiator with no attachments whatsoever. It lifts up with a particularly tight spot between the drivers side air box mount and the lower radiator outlet, but if you've got this far you will sort that too. This is the lower mounts with the rad out so you can see where the rubber bushes go, it is a straight shot upwards Done! Assembly is the reverse of disassembly, with blood less likely to be shed.
    • Right, onto the second last trick. The Air Con condenser is mounted to the front of the radiator and stays in the car when the radiator is removed. There are 2x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the condenser to the radiator, remove those The bottom of the condenser is attached to the radiator with clips. You need to lift the condenser out of those clips and clear (up, then forward). f**ked if  could work out how to do that last bit with the front bumper on. I hope you can, and you share the trick.  Bumper removal probably deserves its own thread one day once I've recovered the will to live, but basically you need to remove the wheels, front inner guard liners (clips and 10mm headed bolts), the self tapper between the guard and the bumper at the rearmost point of the bumper (same as an R32 that bit), any remaining clips at the top/front of the grill, an absolute bastard design with a plate that holds the top of the bumper above the headlight each side (only 1 bolt which is tricky to get to, but the plate catches 2 places on the bumper and must be removed....carefully!) and push clips between the bumper and guard under the headlight. If you've done all that you will be faced with wiring for the fog lights on both sides and in ADM Q50 RS at least, 4 nasty tight plugs on the driver's side for the ADAS stuff. So, the clips at the bottom look like this on drivers side (looking from the front) And on the passenger side (also from the front), you can see this one is already out Clearance on both of these are super tight; the condenser needs to move up but the upper rad support mount prevents that, and the radiator can't move down far because it is (rubber) mounted. Once you achieve the impossible and drop the condenser off those mounts so it does not stop the rad moving, you are good to go
    • OK, next the shroud needs to come off and there are a couple of tricks. Firstly, there is a loom from near the passenger side headlight to the fans, coolant temp sensor etc and there is no plug to undo.  In my case I was OK to leave the shroud on top of the engine so I just undid the passenger side fan plug and about 10 of the clips which gave enough free wire to put it aside. The fan plugs were super tight, the trick I used was a small falt screwdriver to push down on the release tab, then a larger flat screwdriver to lever the plug out of the fan unit....be careful with how much force you apply! If you need to remove the shroud altogether for some reason you will have to deal with all the plugs (tight) and clips (brittle)....good luck. I removed all of the clips and replaced them with cable ties that I will just cut next time. Also, in the Red Sport / 400R at least, the intake heat exchanger reservoir hose is bolted to the shroud in 2 places with 10mm headed bolts; so remove them (the hose stays in the car; no need to undo it at the t fittings down at the radiator lower mount. Once you've dealt with the HX hose and the wiring loom, there are 3x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the shroud to the radiator; remove those.   The shroud then lifts out of the bottom mounts where it sits on the radiator, up and onto the engine out of the way. Simples
    • Ok, disregard my “rate them” comment, sorry for my unrealistic input
