well its a bit off topic but in the race car we launch by handbrake up, rev to about 5000rpm when the red light comes on (3-5 seconds before start) then 2 seconds later allow the clutch to engage a little (still slipping). This loads up the whole drive train lightly on the handbrake (all slack taken up). Then when the light goes off....handbrake off, foot off clutch, nail accelerator. Works great, I've never been beaten off the start line and I've never broken anything in the driveline (gearbox, driveshaft, tailshaft, flywheel, clutch etc). It does require a forgiving clutch though.

Of course thats not an option in the r35 but there is no doubt preloading the drivetrain helps protect it.

I thought that the R35 LC system would be like BMW's system where once you have engaged and used the LC you would have to drive for about a 1-2 km's before you can engage it again

As alot of people said...this looks like someone just abusing their car and something broke...boo hoo happens everyday.

Someone has broken their car, Nissan has deamed they where f*kwits and therefore wont honour a warranty, and now him and his drunk mates have fabricated up some stories to cause issues.

Yes, the box broke, but there is only a few imes you can 100% stress a mechanical part of the vehicle before it gives way.

Ohh and I love the strong posts from regular members here supporting the new vehicle and asking for time, then you get the 1 post members who's first post is "I am going to trade my <insert expensive vehicle here> but now that I have to think about it".

Pfft, single post members with no credibility.

I've been waiting 30 years to find a worthy successor to my Datsun 180B. I was going to trade it in to get an R35, but now that I hear the gearbox blows if you repeatedly to hard launches in this AWD car I have to think about it.

P.S. I am not a crackpot.

Oh really, go on. I am sure that Nissan will give you a fantastic trade on your super rare R33 GTST, expensive cars those.

The problem with the GTR is the price tag. They are now cheap enough (brand new) to have dickheads afford them, abuse them and break them. Then (as they are dickheads) badmouth the car. Now most 911 GT2 owers, who having paid a mint for them will treat them some respect. If they were driven by the same person who had just broken their GTR I would imagine at some stage they would break it.

Ray, don buy a GTR, we dont need any more dickheads driving them. Buy a ZR1 ($400K) and stick it into a pole.

Obviously, you didnt do well in english back in Pre-school aye mate!

If you want stupid, why dont we look at your sig, "Enter the WAGON". WOW, does that depict that you "sexually" abuse your wagon?

Or, do you bend over infront of your wagon and call out "Enter, Thy Wagon"

:P

is it school holidays already?

Lets look at this argument...so the new R35 have had one (or a few) Tranny faliures...who cares? it could be due to million different reasons...it could be due to abuse...or a fault in the materials or assembley of that particular transmission or (batch of tranny's)...you gotta remember that this is the 1st series of R35's...im sure they will have more problems...its never going to be 100% perfect. If Nissan isnt going to cover it, because they believe it was the driver that abused it then i think thats fair enough! why? cos the DSG garboxes has its pro's and cons, ye they will shift faster than what you can do manually, but you cant abuse it every chance you get, because its not cheap to replace like a tradtional manual, if you want to abuse the shit out of it, dont buy a R35! buy a R34 GTR, tune it to 350 odd k/w's and even if u fry the clutch its not that expensive to replace!

Also like to add that people think that the R35 is the greatest car in the universe, its a amazing machine, dont get me wrong and i love it, and would love to drive (or own one one day) and while nissan says its a 'everyday' supercar, i think the point here is that you cant abuse the shit out of it everyday as you would with a R32 or something like that, its not made to do that. I think there is a massive different between a car that doesnt break down on you even if you drive it on the w/e (like a lot of the euro supercars) and a car you can abuse the shit out of and it will be fine, it does have its limits im sure (and im sure these limits are outlined in the warrenty). The R35 Is a amazing car, possibly the best bang for your buck? it can keep pace with cars that are 5 times its price tag, it looks to be a great daily driver and occational track car - but its not immune to faliures etc like every other car.

Enter the wagon - enter the dragon. You didnt get it did you? You are the only one to ever ask about it, you are an idiot but thats ok as someone is making money out of you. As for the english comment, I went very well thank you, my business card reads "company director" so I'm OK thanks. The wagon would reduce you to a screaming little boy. Its for sale, come up with $27k and its yours, make sure your pills have dropped first though.

Brian, grab me a beer while you are at the fridge as this little stain will most likely reply.

Dineth, I believe its school holidays soon however this one looks to have flunked out early. I agree with your comments though. Ive been through 4 clutches in the wagon, I'm not going to cry about it, its a heavy car with big power, shit is going to break.

HOW TO BURY YOURSELF IN 4 EASY DO IT YOURSELF STEPS

Oh dammm those stripped gears. i know im DEF not going to be buying an R35

waste of time and money the GTR

Id rather you didnt, guys like you make them depreciate

Thanks for your input RBNT, why dont you Trade your Super Duper RB25det for it then?

That is so wrong on so many levels, You might of had a bit of respect left after your 1st comment, but you dug your own grave with that 2nd post.

I didnt read through it. All i saw was BULLSHIT. Why dont you shove your gay Wagon up your arse?

Have a good day, RBNT.

Now after digging your grave you just put your self in the coffin

And Thats the Nail in the coffin.

lol well said nismo lol lol

also this whole thread is shit, as far as i have searched i have only found this one car that has f**ked up.... its also been said that this car is a private import to europe somewhere (dont know how true this is).... to the idiots that say they would have bought the car but one aparrant stuffed up car puts you off buying the car, i dare you to find any car model ever built that hasn't had one of its cars break something serious in its first 5000km.....

stick with your bmw's and crap, the m3's are riddled with problems (so is every car), but your single car may not get any problem at all even if you thrash it, its all just the luck of the draw....

also if you buy the gtr to thrash it all the time you will have to be able to afford to fix it, super car or not, every car thats thrashed WILL ALWAYS f**k UP, the only variable is what will wreck first and how much abuse it can handle before it goes BOOM!!!!

also if you put an order in for an expensive car before doing your research and your going to winge about the price of repairs i recon your also a tosser.

i would kill for an r35 gtr, yes it will get alittle bit of a thrashing from me on the track every now and then but you also have to use common sence and realise that everything will give up in time, especially when its being abused....

how about those multi million dollar v8 super cars or f1 cars????? there reliability is up to shit, mainly because abuse weakens even the toughest and hardest mechanical components...

the only thing a $1 000, $10 000, $100 000, $1 000 000 car has in common, they will all break down

PS: is anybody willing to give me a R35 GTR for someones life (LOL ITS A JOKE DONT DELETE IT LOL)

I think a lot of people are overreacting with this transmission issue sure - but also a lot of people are missing the critical point:- the manufacturer stance is this: you can't turn off traction control / use LC and expect to have a warranty (during the time it's turned off). Given most of the 0~100 times are based on using L/C, it's not a stretch that some people are confused. This is all mixed in with other factors like: some of the traditional "consumable" tranny consumables (such as a clutch) apprently cannot be replaced, you have to swap in a whole new box, at 1/3 the cost of the car. That's ridiculous, but I am assuming the aftermarket will take car of it and/or Nissan will change their stance on the box replacement thing in time. If not, i would throw my warranty in the garbage and go aftermarket anyway.

    • The alloy coolant reservoir has a sight glass, so as long as I can see coolant in the sight glass it's GTG, as for PS, it isn't anything catastrophic if it gets low, and as it hasn't lost a drop since I have owned the car I cannot see it being an issue, even after putting the "big block" 2.5 in....LOL The only time it gets slightly messy is at oil changes, as the oil filter sits above the frame, and I need to use a plastic bottle with its bottom cut off to catch the flow when loosening the filter
    • Good on you for taking on the job, but it is a big one. Even if you have bolt on manifold and turbo, you will need: Post throttle pressure source to boost controller to wastegate (and FPR, and ECU/MAP sensor) Pre throttle pressure source to top of BOV(s) Oil feed - you can take that from the standard port in the middle of the block Oil return to block under the turbo - this is much trickier than it seems to route a decent/wide pipe past the manifold. You really can't use rubber hose because it is way too hot there, and also the oil out of the turbo core is a bit frothy so it needs to have a decent diameter Water feed - you can take that from the standard port in the rear of the block. Water return - mine runs to a T into the heater box return, just make sure you don't create a high point making bleeding hard. All of those lines should use 200 series style teflon braided hose with heat shielding because everything needs to be routed past the manifold. Also a turbo beanie is a really good idea to minimise the chance of the car catching fire (under bonnet lining in particular) You also need to decide a cam cover breathing solution as well, will you vent externally via a catch can (probably illegal) or return to the intake (plumbing required and can oil up everything over time) Keep in mind the intake and exhaust piping in the engine bay will be custom so you either need to be able to fab ally and steel or have someone you can get a car that isn't running to. Get the wideband fitting welded into the dump pipe at the same time. Also, just my opinion, a screamer pipe attracts attention and doesn't add power, I'd plumb it back if you want to be allowed to keep the car on the road. BTW do you know anything about how healthy the motor is, and what power you are targeting? Doubling or tripling the factory power on an unknown motor is a little risky. Also fuel system will need some attention (pumps, high current hanger, direct power and earth feed, injectors etc)
    • Wrinkle black will be a thing for both
    • As I wait for parts to be delivered, I have managed to procure via a contact a R32 Nistune ECU......for now I just want to monitor what the car is doing but eventually.......who knows where we go 😂
    • To back this up, I'm always looking on the outside, seeing the level, and then opening it up anyway, as I'm worried the level I've looked at, is more so a scunge line. Then you end up dipping your damn finger in it too depending on the type of tank you're looking at just to make sure I'm not going insane.   PS, Mark, polish up the none moroso one a bit and then give it a clear coat. The Moroso one looks to be way shiner (not mirror polished, just shinier) and it'll still look weird with the two different alloys beside each other. Either that, or Id probably paint them a flat black...
