I think E85 could be even more popular if the government would do something like a "no emissions defects" for vehicles locked to an E85 tune. Sadly it's just too logical, and police need to single out imports, when worn out telstars and tradie work vans spew pollution with impunity.

E85 should be treated the same as LPG imo, the EPA/vicroads don't seem to care at all as long as the fuel tank is inoperative. They aren't tuned well a majority of the time and are still a fossil fuel, releasing that deadly carbon locked in the earth we keep hearing about.

If they decide to Carbon tax e85 I will be really pissed. If only I had an endless supply of apples... :whistling:

I agree E85 cars should be treated as leniently as lpg or even more so. Per km E85 is carbon and other pollutant friendly. Hence the amazing lack of logic in harrassing an E85 vehicle, because it's an import., and over taxing E85. If sane governments want people to do the right thing, they should tax and harass it less.

  • 2 weeks later...

About 6 months ago United advertised on their website in a big banner that they were gonna start rolling out E85 to most of their servos "soon"

That banner has now vanished without a trace. :/

Anyone know anything about this?

Also Sydney has 2 servos according to the website (both only 5 mins from each other on the same bloody road lol)

anyone know if there are any more out there? I'm assuming its not up to date?

They are popping up everywhere in Melbourne, perhaps that's where all the sales are? They will only pay the money to put pumps in if they know it will sell.

The more people going out of their way to fill on the current e85 pumps the better.

Still bugger all E85 up this way (without a 25min drive to get it) so decided to bite the bullet and go full flex tune.... Expensive but worth it i guess!!

any more info on how u doing it?

cheers

Ill send you a PM

my ethanol content sensor has been reading between 83-85% - i would think it's more accurate than a test kit, but i dunno.

I filled up at a new outlet in Scoresby yday, said they've only had it 1-2 months - so i'll get the laptop out and see if there's any difference between outlets.

Given i found a new E85 outlet, i thought i'd check the United website to see who else might be new.... check out Melbourne now!! Outlets are definitely growing!! Nice!!

    • HELP   Hey all, Is there an accelerator cable from another Nissan that can be used on the R33 GTST RB25DET with a Greddy forward facing plenum?  Thanks in advance  Rob
    • Or do we think it was installed to give 1 bar of boost max, all day, everyday?
    • So could it be assumed it has been installed intentionally with potentially a power FC boost controller kit?
    • Had my rig on Matt's dyno at PITS the other day. After a few years between tunes I added a few sensors and swapped intercoolers. Result. 553hp at 26psi. Not bad for an FJ20 that was built in 2007. The problem.. It filled the overflow bottle on hard runs which leads me to believe the head gasket isn't sealing. I have a coolant pressure sensor which was reading cap pressure at 22psi and occasionally overrunning to 23/24 psi on deceleration after a pull. It was not spiking. It has arp2000 head studs and a cometic gasket. As its been 18 years in service, I pulled the engine out and head off. Everything looks good but we obviously have an issue. Where I'm at.. Years ago I had the same issue, I checked the stud tension and they were all over the place. Some at 60 to 70 and some up near 90. I nipped them all to 100ft lbs and this stopped the water push until now. I believe this compromised the gasket back then. What do I do? 2 options are..  1) I bought arp 625+s, which I could put in with a new gasket. Thinking Kameari this time, reassemble and try again. 2) strip the block, get fire rings machined in with copper gasket and try that. I do not want to push it more than 28 to 30psi. I think the turbo will be out by then anyway. (G30-770). My other concern is the long term ability of a copper head gasket. Are they streetable for years? I feel like a new gasket with the new studs will probably suffice, but I don't know. Any thoughts welcome and advice on copper gaskets and fire rings. Thanks!
    • I'm a fan of the JZX110, and the Aristo. Big cruiser cars, and with the factory cars, super comfortable and feel like you're driving an armchair! And the JZ motors are a pretty nice engine too, especially with some basic mods.   The import process, and the need to be able to trust people, and the fact there's so many scammers around is what ever puts me off wanting to go through that ordeal!
