Marlin that actually looks like a trailer from 'Unique Trailers' (re: bobby) as its exactly the same design even down to where the plate is fitted also the sealed off inner guards which I havent seen on any other trailer except 'Unique Trailers'. They have recently opened a shop in QLD too and send them up from Sydney.

Yeah definitely looks like one. Even the colour you mentioned Marlin, Hammertone is the base colour Peter paints them in. And his guard clearance is 180mm as well.

He did have a shop in QLD, but last time i spoke to him he was thinking of closing. Too much hassle as he actually owned the place and was responsible for everything but obviously lives in another state 12 hours away.. Maybe he's decided to keep it going :-)

Anyone have info on Unique Trailers up here? Where are they?

Cheers

Michael

Guys,

I just spoke to Peter and as I thought he defintely no longer owns the shop in QLD. He does sell them to someone up there who then on sells, but he believes naturally they would be more expensive than getting them from him.

(Transport and margin being on top of course)

I can get the shop in QLD's details if you like Michael, but it'll probably tomorrow as Peter wasn't in the office.

I reckon I paid a few hundred over the odds, but I needed it Friday and thats who had one ;)

This guy on Ebay says he has a Beaver Tail in stock for the same price (3100), and 50 bucks delivery to Brissy :(

Edit: this guys been on a cruise so i couldnt contact him last week :P

Picked up my trailer today, $3000 on road, the guys at Unique did a pretty good job. First time i've ever driven with a trailer, not difficult just more concentration like when driving a small truck (except it's twice as long). My van could definitely do with another 50hp and double the torque though :)

Damn bastard to move around with the tandem axel, easy to roll with the jockey though which was worth every penny. Now I just need to buy a little electric winch!

It fits in the garage which is perfect, not much room at the front but I need to throw that fridge out anyway and I can easily push it out whenever I need the floor space.

what size you got? 16'X6'6''?

Thanks

mmmmmmm fags......

ben, if you want the thing to last just keep it dry. as long as you can keep the thing out of the rain it will look sweet for ages. otherwise they look crap pretty quick. 1 or 2 outings in the wet and they get spots all over.

Well that idea probably went out the window with the weather they've had this week!

My trailer is living in the garage, I got it made 13x6 (instead of 13x6'6) so that I have about 5cm either side of it to squeeze into the garage. If it was the standard 6'6 it wouldn't fit and would instead be living in the backyard under a tarp. I didn't escape the rain though, in the 2 days it took for them to build it it rained and so I have some paint issues, but it's only a trailer not a show car.

Duncan: He would only build the Aussie Race Car Chassis as they are 100% aussie made, where as my nascup car is 100% imported from USA in kit form then I just have to bolt it altogether myself and fit my hayabusa. 10 to do by Xmas eh, I asked him if I could do some work experience at the workshop afew arvo's a week just to learn basic mechanic stuff and he said he'd organise the insurance policy. I'll have to ring up and remind him again.

Fatz: 13x6 with a 150cm draw bar although for the same price you could also get 12x6'6 or 13x6'6.

I don't work for Unique, I just bought a trailer from him, best to call Peter at Unique and get the details of the QLD shop he builds these trailers for.

nice trailer. but please chuck those tyres in the bin! they look terrible. the colour looks cool though. in the pics the ramps look a little short, but you can get around that without too much trouble if need be. :D

cool, they look fked in the pics.

these trailers are the grand daddys! nice desig's with the tilting ones and the beaver tails

^^^ lol... what are you towing BB? Caterpillar excavators?

yeah I know, they are a tad large. :ermm: but bloody good design. and I'm pretty sure GTR is about the same size/weight as a cat excavator isn't it? handles like it.... did I say that? :(

The tyres all have plenty of meat mr beer baron it's just the bad clarity of the pictures.

look like passenger car tyres. small ones at that. what's the load rating? where's the spare???

light truck tyres are the go on car trailers.

    • You're not the first person that's said that about this car lol. A Touring wagon GT in Spark yellow mica would be the dog's danglies 😆 I will keep an eye out for a future purchase for sure. The seats are almost like the OEM Recaros... electric adjustment for fore/aft and tilt movements except reclining.
    • Yes!! I love these! It's a shame its not the wagon though!   Thank everything that's holy that it doesn't have the interior of the Aussie delivered ones. Those seats are so much nicer.
    • I'm both sorry and thankful that you do that.
    • 2001 BE5D Subaru Legacy B4 RSK (3rd gen) EJ208 (pink injector) Twin Turbo 280PS 5-speed manual Full time 4WD "RSK" grade which means all of the above LQC option which means stock rear spoiler  I got it primarily to export to someone outside Japan who was interested. These BE5 Legacy B4 RSKs are going through a bit of a resurgence right know in Japan as they are one of the few cars from the "turbo, manual, RWD/4WD, 280hp gentleman's agreement era" cars that don't require stupid money to purchase. Which for some people might be a good opportunity to get as a base for restoration. If I can't find anyone to purchase it I will certainly be doing that myself over the long term. Why? Because it's properly fast in stock form, handles well enough for a GT sedan, there's still enough aftermarket and (if you can wait a while) genuine part support to make it a restoration candidate (<-- that will only get worse over time so it's a case of do it now or choose get a BL5 4th Gen). Mechanically it's fine, has only 89,200kms on the odometer. The problem with this car is that the body and exterior trims are weathered from at least the last 10 years being parked outdoors. I'm the 3rd owner, the first owner was the one that had it for 14 years and barely drove it, had a low-speed front impact (which didn't damage anything behind the radiator support) and got it fixed and sold it. The 2nd owner put most of the kms on it and parked it outside for the last 10 years, hence the door rubbers have seen better days but if you overlook those cosmetic details, it presents pretty nicely. There is some minor rust on the LH rear wheel arch which I'll have looked at too at some stage.  Also as you'd expect from a car this age, the clear top coat is gone, leaving a satin finish on the roof.  Mechanically it's fine (as you would expect from a car with less than 100K kms) but the steering does feel slightly vague around the centre position at higher speeds. So first on the list is to get the steering rack bushes looked at. There's also the Lock button on the remote which doesn't work, but the Open button does.... it means that the anti-theft system thinks it's always open? It seems like if you open the car and don't start the engine within 3 mins or so the anti-theft kicks in again without any beeps or signals. So if you got to start it after that, it won't. You have to push the open button again. That's how I understand it anyway. Just a small irritation but not a big problem to sort out. There's only one mod, the Wangan SPL muffler. Just a tad louder than stock. It's a really good mod for those who don't want to wake the neighbours but still want to hear a more prominent unequal length header EJ20 sound. Anyway I hope to get all those things done eventually, that is unless someone wanted to import it to their country from Japan (where I live). I'm open for negotiations as I really would like a Skyline... but this will definitely suffice in the meantime 🙂 *Disclaimer: This is how I picked it up from the dealer, minus the stuff on the back seat. I haven't cleaned the engine bay or done a thorough exterior clean, aside from spray painting the wipers.
    • Wow, even with the Audi logo centre caps. I love OEM wheel mismatches.
