spot-on...its main use is not to impress the derro's at Summernats but to cool down after the antilag is used.

i also use it on hot summer days when driving in sydney traffic, because the oil cooler and 4" core intercooler is in the way the water temps get very high and the cycle idle actually keeps the temps around 5 - 10 deg cooler.

lol.. see the bogan jumping for cover? i decided against doing a burnout there, I could not have anything happen to my car just to prove something to bogans... I am saving it for power cruise instead.

Don't you feel guilty? if you still have a cat, it must be rooted from all that unburned fuel.

And dumping all that unburned fuel into the air sucks for everyone else .. & for what?

u do it in sydney traffic? what can justify that apart from having a public wank?

god damn. the first time i have actually been jelous of another type of ecu over the PFC. sounds like a good idea in theory and id do it just for the funky idle. ricer from wayyy back....

on that note. whats it cut out, fuel and spark or just spark. i cant imagine it would just cut out spark... wouldnt it wash the bores out and foul the plug up? or not so?

thanks for your input Bob Brown.

Its a catch 22 really...unburnt fuel evaporates benzine and hydrocarbon into the atmosphere...burnt fuel releases carbon di-oxide carbon monoxide etc.

6 of 1...1/2 dozen of the other.

not really. the point of a cat is not just so you don't have to clean your bumper, and the point

of all that plumbing at gas stations, is not just for show. CO2 isn't poison, it isn't great, but whatever.

EPA regulations aren't just a revenue raising idea either.

However unburned hydrocarbons are much worse. Not 6 of one and half a dozen of the other at all.

and for NO REASON AT ALL in traffic, rather than to win races on a track, seems to me to be the same

morality as cutting down trees because they spoil your view, or pouring oil down a street grating.

Just needlessly anti-social, really.

he said it was to help his car from overheating in extreme conditions (which we have had lately) in traffic...did you not care to read and understand that part?. Guilt-Toy every friday afternoon has to make his way from Sydney through peak hour traffic to head up to Newcastle...a journey that lately has seen him stuck in traffic for hours!

You are a little hypocritical as only the other day you were enquiring about how much more power you make running leaded fuel!!

no tree hugging going on in there ? no crack at me for selfishly destroying the planet by running leaded fuel in my car...at the very least if you are having a soapbox rant please be consistent. Read the thread title...what did you even come in here for anyway?

unburnt fuel? ohhhh Mr Internet Mechanic....... man... rotatational idle works by cutting fuel to keep the revs down.. it is running lean not rich. rofl

the cooling happens because of all the fresh air getting pumped in and out of the engine not the excess fuel. >_<

and i thought my last post may have given him a rap over the knuckles...

that one has cut his whole hand off and shoved it up his arse!

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
