They will always be suss about a hi mount manifolde and turbo arrangement

Although aslong as (i am assuming its external gate) the wastegate pipe is plumbed into the main exhaust you sould be ok with with that, also if you can get an inclosed intake box as they will crack a wobbly about a open pod filter set up, if its possible and also if it has not been done already plumb back your BOV

I have had a rather suspicious looking skyline (matte black with huge wheels lol) and usually was able to go out without getting harassed, but its all in how you drive the car as they will soon learn your car and it will become a vehicle of interedt if your car has been reported/seen doing stupid shit, thats when they pull you up for no reason and go defect hunting, also if its not a local car they will pull you up and suss it out and maybe keep an eye out for it for a few weeks or so

But if the vehicle is ok and you don't drive like a lunatic you should be fine

Cheers Marty

mate generally its not the car you drive but how you drive

with that said, if you're cruising around a fully stripped 32 with a cage, straight thru pipes, and thats 2mm off the ground - yes you will get pulled over regardless

'Tis much worse after dark > or should I say, out of work hours...

'Tis worse near a maccas, KKs or KFC...

'Tis better if wearing a pin-stripe suit...

'Tis better if you look as old as me...

Gotta love the grey hair Terry, I laugh at the younguns havin a moan about how many times they get pulled over.

How many times have you been driving when a cop pulls along side, looks at you then shakes his head and drives away.

I luvit. :(

Hehe Noel,

I owned my R33 GT-R for 2yrs and a day. I have owned my R34 GT-R just 1 month short of 3 yrs.

Despite my massive tip, I've never been pulled over - not once. RBTs don't hassle me. I wear a beret now to hide some of the grey haha. No, I'm not gunning for a spot on Mythbusters hehe.

I admit tho' that if I went out a lot at night, it would be a different story.

I don't have to see 'blue'; I can smell it!

Cheers, T

C'mon Craig & Noel, sensitivity doesn't get calloused with age ya know.

My optimism only extends as far as this...

"I might be losing my hair on top; but at least it regrows thru the ears and nostrils" hahaha

What have we here? A collection of the DRIEST WIT SAUers on the forum!

...all on this backwater called 'Skylines A Target'

I'll always remember your contribution to "Which Mods To Do In Order" Craig lmao = one of the best posts ever!

BTW where is the OP?

    • Bit of a pity we don't have good images of the back/front of the PCB ~ that said, I found a YT vid of a teardown to replace dicky clock switches, and got enough of a glimpse to realize this PCB is the front-end to a connected to what I'll call PCBA, and as such this is all digital on this PCB..ergo, battery voltage probably doesn't make an appearance here ; that is, I'd expect them to do something on PCBA wrt power conditioning for the adjustment/display/switch PCB.... ....given what's transpired..ie; some permutation of 12vdc on a 5vdc with or without correct polarity...would explain why the zener said "no" and exploded. The transistor Q5 (M33) is likely to be a digital switching transistor...that is, package has builtin bias resistors to ensure it saturates as soon as base threshold voltage is reached (minimal rise/fall time)....and wrt the question 'what else could've fried?' ....well, I know there's an MCU on this board (display, I/O at a guess), and you hope they isolated it from this scenario...I got my crayons out, it looks a bit like this...   ...not a lot to see, or rather, everything you'd like to see disappears down a via to the other side...base drive for the transistor comes from somewhere else, what this transistor is switching is somewhere else...but the zener circuit is exclusive to all this ~ it's providing a set voltage (current limited by the 1K3 resistor R19)...and disappears somewhere else down the via I marked V out ; if the errant voltage 'jumped' the diode in the millisecond before it exploded, whatever that V out via feeds may have seen a spike... ....I'll just imagine that Q5 was switched off at the time, thus no damage should've been done....but whatever that zener feeds has to be checked... HTH
    • I think Fitmit had some, have a look on there (theyre Australian as well)
    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily.
    • Actually, I'd say all three are the automatic option. Just the different trim levels. The manual would be RSFS, no?
