Malaysia is only a week away and somehow I unfortunately can't see there being enough time to rush new and untested bits onto the car.

Full credit though to the Brawn GP team, Jenson and Rubens. A nice weekends work

pretty sure they (the big teams) already have something designed and made. They'll probably bring it out at the next friday and saturday practice session and if it doesn't work then they won't use it. If it does, then it'll make for even better racing

unfortunately can't see there being enough time to rush new and untested bits onto the car.

They won't need new bits, just use all the data from the past 3 days to create a better setup for next weekends race which will put them comfortably in the top 10 for qualifying.

As a result the Toyota driver was slapped with a 25second penalty, which dropped him from third place to 12th with Mark Webber the only runner behind him in the classification.

Stewards docking Vettel 10 places for Malaysia is 100% BullSHIT! What are they playing at? It was tough, hard racing that didnt end well for either driver. If they are going to hand out penalties for such moves then how is it that Rubens gets away from his 1st corner antics and the tapping of Kimi?

Looks like we are set for another year of FIA stupidity

I can't believe he got a $50,000 fine! I would still call it a racing incident and you see it numerous times in other rounds and a blind eye gets turned, fair enough he drove on but his car was STILL drivable to an extent.

Mind you I don't see any penalties being slapped on R.Kubica??? wtf?

There seemed to be alot of mis-communication (or lack of communication) between crews/drivers/stewards. Take the first safety car issue, there was a good 2 laps wasted cos a few drivers didn't know whats going on and i mean how can you expect them to they don't have track side coverage.

I was standing on turn 3 when Kubica and Vettel hit eachother and it really looked as though Vettel tried to give Kubica the squeeze. I haven't seen a replay, but I think vettel was trying to shut the door way too late.

EDIT: After seeing this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQdiGI7b2dY and http://www.motorchili.com/video/3325/F1-Au...nd-Kubica-crash, I stand by my original comment. Though I do think Rubens deserves a similar penalty.

Well done for Brawn GP for getting the 1-2. Let's see what other sponsers they will get other than Virgin since there have done well...They will be up there until the big teams improve their aero packages. They will be alright for Sepang.

I don't beleive that Vettel should have got a 10 grid penalty and the fine...it was a racing accident...Vettel should have gave way for Kubica but in the same way Kubica should have gave more racing room for Vettel...

Also it's a Mercedes 1-2-3 as Hamilton has been promoted to 3rd because Trulli was given a 25 second penalty after the race for passing Hamilton under the safety car

this is going to be a crazy 2009 season

I really enjoyed the incar footage. It seemed way better than lst year.

All we have to do is find a way to block out the ridiculous ravings of the commentators,

I wish they would just SHUT UP.

Good to see Lewis in 3rd place from 18th  (after Trulli gets the inevitable demotion to 4th for passing under safety car conditions :O )

there's nothing like being (more or less) right :D. that'll teach these sneaky Toyota bastards for ignoring yellow warning lights, lol

6 points to the champ to start his title defence.

Kubica looks good for the title i reckonz

already changed your mind about Gonzo being the lock for '09?

It was a good race - I really see these new tyre regs playing a big part in results this year as well. It was amazing to see how fast some of those cars were when first on the soft tyres but then how at the end of the stint they really went off. I reckon we'll see some good action this year with tyre conditions during races.

However my biggest worry for the season is this dffuser thing. From my understanding of the rules wording I can't see how the Diffuser3 crew can lose (but then one of the teams isn't Ferrari so I can see it happening). So Brawn haven't won a GP yet.... It's almost unbelievable to think that Hamilton may end up being awarded the victory in Melb and Webber in the points!

But the biggest problem is the fact that which ever way the FIA do decide on the teams in the wrong are screwed with the new no Winter testing rule. Because the problem is as far as I'm aware that the cars have to present for scrutiny on the Thursdays before the GP which means they can't actually play around trialing new parts on the Friday / Saturday. They basically have to make a choice before the weekend starts and if as Mclaren has said that their diffuser style is part of their overall car design these guys won't simply be able to whack on a new diffuser with-out testing in real life if things are going to work. So if the Diffuser3 win I can't see how any of the other teams can take the punt on putting out a car with untested parts. If the ruling goes the other way then the Diffuser3 lot are screwed as they won't have a choice.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
