The thing that amused me most about the British GP (other than Eric Cantona swapping merchandise with Alonso - look it up) was that other than Ferrari all the factory teams got smashed by their respective customer teams, ie Brawn belted McLaren, Red Bull belted Renault, & Williams smashed Toyota. So is it back to the olden days when the manufacturers only supplied motors & money?

The McLaren was horrible. No high speed aero. Made Hamilton look like a muppet & his team mate worse. I am sure LH is massively motivated to race for 15th place.

The other "highlight" was the confession that basically everyone had chucked their KERS in the bin. More brilliance from the FIA. Think about it - all the teams that invested in KERS got owned by it. BMW particularly. Atleast it gave the three competent independents a chance to shine.

I used to think ol Hamo was doing ok for himself with that Mrs of his....but on the weekend leading up to the race i was watching the BBC coverage of an earlier GP this year where she was interviewed on the grid....hmm not impressed. Her voice and persona...ah didnt seem to complex or suggesting she was a thinker

With a body like that, a brain is not required.

We've seen that sort of thing and it's incredibly easy to separate the elite from the good. Damon Hill is another that comes to mind, although David Coulthard was team mate alongside both Damon (at Williams) and Mika (at McLaren) in Newey designed Williams and McLaren's and still couldn't get the job done!!!

Most drivers that have come into F1 and gone straight into a competitive car have more often than not had minimal long term success or none (Andretti, Hill, Villeneuve, Montoya, Zanardi, Coulthard.... these are the first ones that come to mind). Will be interesting to see how Hamilton's career progresses because history isn't necessarily on his side.

Some of the greats (and some not so highly regarded) that I rate have kind of come through the ranks inside F1 (started their careers with ordinary teams), I'd include the likes of Michael Schumacher, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Mark Webber, Sebastian Vettel, Nelson Piquet, Nikki Lauda, Fernando Alonso, Mika Hakkinen who are all won or will win multiple WDC's.

lol @ MW becoming multiple WDC! the Webber love really is strong in here!

baby steps - how about letting him rack up a single win first?

At 33yo he's running out of years to win multiple WDC's too.

far too early to be likening Vettel to any of those others in the list too. 2 race wins does not a champion make.

yeah sadly I'm not sure webber will get a wdc. having said that he's still in with an outside chance this year. anything can happen. remember one year schuey looked to have it all wrapped up and broke his leg halfway through the season. let's hope button, rubens and vettel like to go motorbike racing together, or perhaps are working on an alaskan crab boat in their off weeks... is that so much to ask?

That is a bit harsh. How about some tennis, JPM style?

FIA have come out and said that 2010 breakaway series is dead and FOTA - FIA have agreed on a united championship next year :)

Sux, Max says now that there is peace he wont be up for re-election....lol nice way to side step the fact that you needed to walk if FOTA was to hang around. And lastly it means we still have Bernie, so we will never get fair ticket prices, grand stands in established markets with good crowds etc etc

    • Jack the back of the car up, pull that wheel off, pull that sensor out, and put a bore scope into the hole to inspect the outer casing, see if anything looks damaged before you pull the whole thing apart.
    • Ergh... So I pulled the speed sensor out again and the tip was shiny so I think it's rubbing the bearing. The bearing contains the magnets for the speed sensor so I think when the first sensor broke it damaged the magnet ring on the bearing.  This is just a Google image, but there is a hole going to the bearing. So when the tip broke off the old sensor I'm guessing it fouled the bearing... As the magnet is only protected by a plastic cover it would be easy to damage it. So I guess I'm doing a bearing again.
    • My thinking is that if the O2 sensor is shot then your entire above described experience is pure placebo.
    • Here is the mess that I made. That filler there was successful in filling dents in that area. But in the middle area. I can feel dents. And I've gone ocer it multiple times with filler. And the filler is no longer there because i accidently sanded it away. I've chased my tail on this job but this is something else lol. So I'm gonna attempt filler one more time and if it doesn't work I'll just high fill primer the door and see where the issues are because guidecoat is of no use atm.
    • Ok, so I think I sort of figured out where I went wrong. So I definitely overthinked it, and I over sanded, which is probably a large part of the problem. to fix it, I ended up tapping some spots that were likely to be high, made them low, filled them in, and I tackled small sections at a time, and it feels a lot better.    I think what confused me as well is you have the bare metal, and some spots darker and some are lighter, and when I run my finger across it, it' would feel like it's a low spot, but I think it's just a transition in different texture from metal to body filler.    When your finger's sliding on the body filler, and crosses over to the bare metal, going back and forth, it feels like it's a low spot. So I kept putting filler there and sanding, but I think it was just a transition in texture, nothing to do with the low or high spot. But the panel's feels a lot better, and I'm just going to end up priming it, and then I'll block it after with guide coat.   Ended up wasting just about all of my filler on this damn door lol
