I think we can all agree hamilton is a cock. he's now known for his great hero moves that only ever come off if the other guy lets it happen, or he has a miracle. most of the times (like turn 1 nurburger) he ends up off the track and rapidly loosing spots. he really is a clown driver.

Wasnt it the GP after he got d1cked by the FIA for SPA? So he was driving a little agro that weekend daring the FIA to penalise him again

yeah LH was stripped of his victory at Spa becuase he cut the corner (at the bus stop chicane) and failed to yeld position. I remember this well because it was a real close quarters battle because the rain was coming down on spa and they (LH and KR) was battling for the lead, KR broke early and LH took advantage but KR wouldn't yeld which forced LH to cut the corner to take the lead. LH gave the lead back to KR on the front straight and at turn one, LH passed and went on to win the race (KR crashed out). Stewards investigated that incident and gave LH a 25 second penalty moving him from 1st to 3rd.

What do you think of Jean Todt becoming FIA President...why Mr. Spanky (Mosely) throwing his support behind him? from what I've read, Ari Vatanen has also thrown his hat into ring for the job.. Personally I would like to see Ari Vatanen be president...someone who's not from F1 and be netural....If Todt became president...you can see all the Ferrari haters come out and say that the FIA will protect Ferrari

Edited by BigDirtyJase

Sure Todt was successful at Ferrari but is he that much of a Ferrari man? I mean he has a history with Peugot as well..he walked away from a CEO position...so perhaps its a little different if he was leaving a Ferrari position to fill the FIA role...or am i giving the guy too much credit hoping he is professional enough to not be biased by his former employer?

Well I would like to see Ari Vatanen over Mosely. Maybe that way the WRC would get looked after properly instead of being permanantly fkd about.

He is already a politician so doubtless will be familair with the back stabbings etc. Hard to see how he could do any worse than Max has done these last few years.

"deliberately moving across on RB" eh, see thats an assumption on your part so drop the 'I am so objective' act. Your are assuming intent by using the word "deliberately" when you have no way of knowing what MW's intention was. Plus he has given a perfectly reasonable explanation which you obviously do not accept. Which is your right of course but at the same time shows your bias.

Also why would MW intentionally try to hit RB and so consequentially risk damage to his own car? Does not make sense.

Any moron knows he didn't intentionally try and hit RB. He obviously tryed to intimidate RB into getting out of the throttle... it didn't work and they made contact.

So who steered Mark's car towards Rubens car?

How exactly am I being biased? What because I don't take the word of an Australian GP driver as gospel..... You know nothing about me so you can assume whatever it is that pleases you :)

So Mark banged in to Rubens, shit happens, he had a little brain explosion, usually its Rubens baning into everyone lol.

Its done, the penalty served and no harm no foul. lets get over it and look forwad to Hungary. Red Bull one two anyone?

I think for Mark to still go out and win either with the penalty is testament to his team's budget, and the ability of the designers/engineers to build the fastest car.

fixed :iluvff:

it has been proved over and over again that the driver is far less of a factor in performance than the car. how many times has someone gone from world champion to being lapped the next season. No WDC in the current series is in the top 5 and it's not because they suddenly forgot how to drive.

every one of those drivers is in the top 1% of driver ability in the world. But I bet none of them are among the best 50 drivers in the world....it takes way more than being a talented driver to get to the top. Otherwise fatz would be running a red bull this year

the behaviour of f1 drivers in blocking and carrying on in a straight line is disgraceful and has been going on far too long. It's right up there with going 110% to catch a safety car instead of slowing to a safe speed. I don't care who does it or what country they come from it is dirty driving

My sentiments exactly.

Pretty big call to make that none of them are in the top 50 in the world. I'm not saying you're wrong, but it's kinda hard to prove a statement like that.

yeah I could never prove anything one way or another. but I know a lot of drivers and a lot of race drivers, and the most naturally gifted drivers I know don't race cars.

webber for example, never won any national championship here in aus....skaife on the other hand won 2 in the same year (F Holden and touring cars)

Webber might not have ever won a national championship but I'm sure if he hung around in each series until he won said championship then he wouldn't be where he is today. I'm sure that if any of you guys came 2nd or 3rd in the ute series and then got a drive in the V8's you wouldn't be saying "no I wont do that yet cause i haven't won the ute series" You'd all jump at the chance. He simply advanced he career as fast as he could just as anyone would and no matter what any of you think of his driving ability he's racing F1 and your not. Besides it's a well know fact that if your parents don't have money and lots of it then your not going to be a race car driver, Dick Johnson even said it him self in an interview a few years ago.

You can complain as much as you like about current driving styles/standards but you all have to remember that F1 is a business and teams and drivers will do whatever they can get away with to win and make the big dollars and that means blocking on straights and racing to catch a safety car. It's just the same as a telemarketer calling at 8pm to try and sell you something. We all hate it and it's rude as hell but they're aloud to do it so they will to make money. Any form of top level motorsport is the same. Hell, club motorsport can be the same. If your half a lap behind the safety car and about to restart your going to push to close the gap so your not left behind.

Webber has hardly brought the big bucks to the teams he has driven for so there is a fair bit of merit to most drivers there with a few notable exceptions from Japan and India in recent years.

You need to be a jockey to race formula 1 so that ruled out some great drivers like Walter Rohrl. Clearly the best drivers in the world won't all be 55-65kg runts with massive egos and/or chins.

Yeh, my observation wasnt a criticism. He never won any feeder series because generally to do so you have to hang around longer then a single season. Second season you get picked up by a better team and then with the experience of the team, tracks and championships you make a run at it in your second or 3rd effort.

Mark on ability was able to catach the attention of the people at TWR, Mercedes, Flavio and Benetton...all on ability. He got his F1 seat at Minardi becase he was an Aussie , but his testing for Benetton, Arrows (Driving for them in F3000) shows that he either gives great reach arounds or guys that know far more about motorsport then any of us ever will thought the guy could drive and had potential.

So that is enough for me...if the likes of Mercedes, TWR, Flavio, Frank Williams, Christian Horner think the guy deserves a paid seat, just based on testing ability and from what they haev seen of him. Another thing, is he has never been dropped from a driving line up so its not like any of his F1 teams have shown him the door. He has always left based on a stronger race offer.

So, doesnt really mean anything, other then i dont think not winning FF, F3000 etc isnt a huge sin.

:D I'm only going on what you actually said, not in the mind reading business :domokun:

    • Surely somebody has one in VIC. Have you asked at any shops?  Is this the yearly inspection or did you get a canary?
    • This is where I share pain with you, @Duncan. The move to change so many cooling system pieces to plastic is a killer! Plastic end tanks and a few plastic hose flanges on my car's fail after so little time.  Curious about the need for a bigger rad, is that just for long sessions in the summer or because the car generally needs more cooling?
    • So, that is it! It is a pretty expensive process with the ATF costing 50-100 per 5 litres, and a mechanic will probably charge plenty because they don't want to do it. Still, considering how dirty my fluid was at 120,000klm I think it would be worth doing more like every 80,000 to keep the trans happy, they are very expensive to replace. The job is not that hard if you have the specialist tools so you can save a bit of money and do it yourself!
    • OK, onto filling. So I don't really have any pics, but will describe the process as best I can. The USDM workshop manual also covers it from TM-285 onwards. First, make sure the drain plug (17mm) is snug. Not too tight yet because it is coming off again. Note it does have a copper washer that you could replace or anneal (heat up with a blow torch) to seal nicely. Remove the fill plug, which has an inhex (I think it was 6mm but didn't check). Then, screw in the fill fitting, making sure it has a suitable o-ring (mine came without but I think it is meant to be supplied). It is important that you only screw it in hand tight. I didn't get a good pic of it, but the fill plug leads to a tube about 70mm long inside the transmission. This sets the factory level for fluid in the trans (above the join line for the pan!) and will take about 3l to fill. You then need to connect your fluid pump to the fitting via a hose, and pump in whatever amount of fluid you removed (maybe 3 litres, in my case 7 litres). If you put in more than 3l, it will spill out when you remove the fitting, so do quickly and with a drain pan underneath. Once you have pumped in the required amount of clean ATF, you start the engine and run it for 3 minutes to let the fluid circulate. Don't run it longer and if possible check the fluid temp is under 40oC (Ecutek shows Auto Trans Fluid temp now, or you could use an infrared temp gun on the bottom of the pan). The manual stresses the bit about fluid temperature because it expands when hot an might result in an underfil. So from here, the factory manual says to do the "spill and fill" again, and I did. That is, put an oil pan under the drain plug and undo it with a 17mm spanner, then watch your expensive fluid fall back out again, you should get about 3 litres.  Then, put the drain plug back in, pump 3 litres back in through the fill plug with the fitting and pump, disconnect the fill fitting and replace the fill plug, start the car and run for another 3 minutes (making sure the temp is still under 40oC). The manual then asks for a 3rd "spill and fill" just like above. I also did that and so had put 13l in by now.  This time they want you to keep the engine running and run the transmission through R and D (I hope the wheels are still off the ground!) for a while, and allow the trans temp to get to 40oC, then engine off. Finally, back under the car and undo the fill plug to let the overfill drain out; it will stop running when fluid is at the top of the levelling tube. According to the factory, that is job done! Post that, I reconnected the fill fitting and pumped in an extra 0.5l. AMS says 1.5l overfill is safe, but I started with less to see how it goes, I will add another 1.0 litres later if I'm still not happy with the hot shifts.
    • OK, so regardless of whether you did Step 1 - Spill Step 2 - Trans pan removal Step 3 - TCM removal we are on to the clean and refill. First, have a good look at the oil pan. While you might see dirty oil and some carbony build up (I did), what you don't want to see is any metal particles on the magnets, or sparkles in the oil (thankfully not). Give it all a good clean, particularly the magnets, and put the new gasket on if you have one (or, just cross your fingers) Replacement of the Valve body (if you removed it) is the "reverse of assembly". Thread the electrical socket back up through the trans case, hold the valve body up and put in the bolts you removed, with the correct lengths in the correct locations Torque for the bolts in 8Nm only so I hope you have that torque wrench handy (it feels really loose). Plug the output speed sensor back in and clip the wiring into the 2 clips, replace the spring clip on the TCM socket and plug it back into the car loom. For the pan, the workshop manual states the following order: Again, the torque is 8Nm only.
