Hey all, hope everyone had a good chrissie and new years.

Just a quick question...does anyone know if you can fit stronger hid globes (being 4000k 6000k etc) to the existing standard setup. i have been told that there is a possibility of burning out the lines because factory wires cant cope with more current drawn.

Cheers all.

4000k,6000k,8000k etc has nothing to do with how much power they draw, its to do with the temperature of the HID and therefore the colour it produces on the colour spectrum. They will be fine. My mate has 6000k in his R34 and i have them in my R33 aswell.

If you're just chasing drop-in bulbs to replace the factory D2R's I've got 2 pairs of 6000K and 3 pairs of 8000K....you don't need all of the extra ballast and stuff with the factory setup.

Viet boi...you'd want 6000K to see more of a blue-ish white over stock, 8000K have a definate blue look like the Honda Accord Euro headlights

  • 5 months later...

hey guys I have an R34 with the factory Xenons and my left hand side one just blew it seems .. does anyone know how to pull the bulb out? There's a cover at the back of the xenon bulb BUT it's not turning either clockwise or anti-clockwise. Does the whole headlight have to come off ??

Also does anyone know what the factory temp is (4000k or 6500k etc) because I don't wanna end up with 2 headlights with diff temps...

Denis, you'll notice there is a little screw head that prevents the cover from turning, you can either slightly pry the lug that is hitting it and "jump" the screw (easiest way) or undo and remove it (think it's a torx type)

The factory ones are 4500K but the thing is your not going to be able to match the bulb as it has aged, with age they colour changes from the orignal 4500K heading towards 3000K, so a new bulb will be way off.

My factory ones turned fairly yellow quickly. The 6000K ones are probably as far as you'd want to go to retain a less-blue look.

If you're keen I'm selling off my last sets of brand new D2R bulbs for $65 a pair delivered.

    • Ok thanks..that was my second question if i can somehow bypass this even with Nistune(that is all i have right now...aparat from stock ECU. So with some aftemarket it can by "bypassed" or make it work?  I know there is Link or Haltech (mainly used). We have ECUmaster here so i will gather some info about it.
    • Yes. You will need to get the original boost sensor and wire it in. That is.... if you plan to use a stock ECU - even a Nistuned ECU. The Nissan ECU will not operate correctly without it connected. And yes, it will do annoying stuff like you are experiencing. You will almost certainly be better off with some aftermarket ECU, than trying to hunt down rare sensors.
    • Ok so ABS/TCS is "not" the problem. Yeah i know now about the ABS with Nistune(i told that to the Nistune guy) but iam not 100% why or why i dont have ABS. ABS cube is in the engine (always has been) but i had braked couple of times rly hard and brakes just locked and scream. Does all Skylines have ABS cube? That boost sensor https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/367633-wtb-r34-gtt-turbo-pressure-sensor-pics-inside/ Is this it? I need to ask but i have a picture of engine bay and i do not see that (100% is not in that place) If i do not have this the car can do what mine is?(cutting around 4000 rpm) Here is the pic of my engine bay(only one i have) BUT i think i dont have that cuz loom was used from my RB20DE NEO and i know (obviously) that it does not have boost control or any wire to that...) so maybe that is the problem? (i dont know for 100% if that car where the engine is from had that)...but i dont have the loom from that
    • I'm with you here. It's either loom has an issue, OR, injectors are not functioning properly. It could even be they're just constantly dribbling, hence the wet, but not firing.
    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
