Oh yes the smell is terrible. Some telfon lines are definitely needed! Unless there is some sort of insulation sleeve or tape you can wrap around the lines...

i also wondered whether there was a teflon sleeve available - i asked earls & they said it doesnt exist

naturally they would say that though as it would directly impact their product sales

The pumps are not just good for E85, they flow a shit tonne also. Highest flowing pump in it's application. They are factory fitted in AMG Mercedes Benz and the same company that designs and manufactures them makes the pump for the Veyron.

The only currently available line that can be used 100% with E85 is the Teflon braid 200 series stuff. However the cost to get all the fittings crimped is astronomical so we went with what the sprint car guys are running and it's the blue Goodyear pusklock hose. It's not impervious but we will be changing it out each year. At $15 a meter it doesn't brake the budget.

(Which is extra good for someone like Noel)

EFI Performance sell the pumps as do we. They retail out for $450 each but I'm sure you can admire the price vs quality/flow (~350L/hr).

I'll post up some more pics as soon as we're finished and let you guys know about the smell. Noel is unable to as both his sense of smell and ability to use intermanets has deteriorated since he turned 72

thats a good flow rate, bosch 044 flows 300lph

really?

im running 2 044's (actually 3 if i count my intank pump lol) & it easily supports my purpose

044s are great but those pumps u have look pretty cool

Yeah the rating that Bosch give them is (off the top of my head) 209Lph at 5bar.

I have heard of them as high as 220Lph but never higher than that. Having said that, though, Noel's car made 530hp at the wheels on one bosch 044 at some stage. It consistently pulled 500rwhp in race events for a long time with one.

He had SARD 800cc injectors but the pump was running out of flow as we couldn't make it any richer, the pressure would start dropping at full noise when we did.

So I would say one Bosch pump is good for 600hp (500whp) give or take a few.

044 200l/hr (5 Bar) M18 x1.5 M12 x 1.5 196 60 15.5 M5/M6

That is at 12V though... not 14.7 which your pump should be running at...

just what i was gonna say, bosch do them @ 12v not 14

also you other blokes like marko, you sure you are not getting confused with 040 & 044?

sometimes people do that :P

Sweet.

I'm looking to change lines to some Aero grade stuff, the smell just takes over and I've got about 1/3 the line :P

Not cheap, but smell = gotta go

Whoever's fuel system that is in the picture- You have to be very carefull putting hose clamps on pushlock hose/fittings.... it will cut the inside if the hose and lift the hose off the barbs either side of the clamp.... it's more likely to leak putting the hose clamp on!

It's not cheap, but aeroquip starlight hose and fittings have been designed for all sorts of ethanol/race fuels... awsome stuff!

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
