Not when you launch it from redline a 26 is not laggy and when your changing gears at 7.5 k there is no lag. A 26 with -5s has to be driven a certain way to be raced properly and the motor has to be built properly for this purpose to be reliable. -9s on a stock motor is a much better setup if you don't want to kill your motor.

An RB 20 with a T88 ain't laggy either if you drop it from 11ty RPM and keep it on song.

If all you are talking about is lag the only difference between a stroker and 26 is about 1000rpm, so you need a 26 built that is happy to sit at 7k+ on a consistent basis. At the right revs at wot there is no lag in any engine but it has to be built properly to put up with it.

1000 RPM is bloody night and day!

To pull out of a corner at 3500 rpm and actually move is a good thing!

As you noted yourself piggaz the mines drop off it's happy zone in one corner, the rest of the lap it ripped the supra to shreds and would have done the same to any Setup with 7 or 9s. Period. End of discussion. That's final.

except u still don't know how much power your makin because it hasn't been dyno'd yet or tuned, end of discussion lol

-9s not to kill a stock motor. Would a rebuild be considered stock? Or are you talking about racing..

Stock motor means stock internals rebuilt or not. -9s if you don't want to rev it too much to stay on boost. But there are a lot of guys with

- 5s on stock engines but not sure how they drive. It all comes down to how much coin you have. But this is where you need to speak to a good engine builder to weigh up your options and listen to them

Yes, they are very lightly modified with the ex. housing ported (very similar to what I did with my -5s ) but that's it. Its a built 2.6 alright but still a 2.6 and not a 2.7 nor a 2.8 stroker

I guess, think of it as a whole package then just what's done to the turbos itself.

The Mine's built RB26 also has the cam gears dialed in:

260 degree Inlet and 252 degree Exhaust.

So in addition to the lightly modified turbos + cams + whole engine = You wonder why it runs so well :)

Makes you wonder how the Mines R34 GTR is so responsive using 2530's on a 2.6ltr engine doesn't it?

Fact is - it's not.

Once it's on boost (4500rpm or so), the ONLY reason it rips through the gears, is because the diff ratios were changed.

Can't believe the last 6 pages, talk about rubbish...

Any idea on the gear ratios? Im using GTS4 gearing and they take no time at all to rev up, I asume they have the same or something similar

    • Hi SAU family, having issues with my R34GTT which is slightly modified and tuned to e85. so scenario is, I’m driving the car to work (30km oneway) and then coming back in the arvo. Car starts and runs fine in the morning and on the way back home (in the arvo). I stop the car when i gets home and after 10-15 mins, it wont start. Battery is fine, fuel pump seems to be working. All i hear is engine clicks but wont start.  Last time, i disconnected the battery terminals and re connected them. Check fuses. Didnt start at that time but started after an hour (so I say when its cool down). Mechanic cant find the issue as its running now and nothing coming up in the diagnose. any advice, opinion or anyone gone through similar issue.   thanks 🙏🏻
    • 9" +35 will rub on the suspension. R33 GTR wheels are +30.
    • I know a guy with 18x9 +22 on the front of a 32 gtst, needed quite a lot of guard work, tyre stretch (215) and camber. Not sure what your current set up is, +35 won't be as much, but still a fair bit of guard work and camber.
    • Well as expected the ECU wasn't getting proper manifold pressure reading.  Once I switched to a 3rd vacuum line directly off the back of the manifold the car runs amazing.  Still slightly lean on full throttle but only like 15 AFR, probably fixable with some tuning.
