Mine will be sprinted so I'm half thinking that I might need to upgrade

Yeah, maybe I'll just get the struts chopped and get some slightly lower springs made and run some new R31 Monroes or something, I really don't want to spend $$$ on more shocks

Do the Z31's run the same struts as DR's?  I'd like to modify a second set so that if I get done for having height adjustable suspension and they want me to weld it up then I can put the standard struts back in

Ta for the heads up but I missed it by 20 minutes.

Sent an email so I *might* get it

Theyve also got a modified inlet manifold to take additional Z31 injectors

Is it a good deal that price? And I'll get in the sh!t for putting you up to it, but thought it on open forum then anybody could have seen it if they wanted it.

Hope all works out, you might keep up with our RB's then :)

I dont have a huge desire to make it heaps more powerful its quick enough for what I use it for and I have to drive it every day (well... I dont have to but if I take the Triumph I have to leave earlier), so a plug-in box even with a fairly crude level of adjustment would probably do me... though I was thinking about going all out and getting an Autronic

But thats if they'll sell it to me outside of an auction

i didnt even know you could get PowerFC for DR's haha

Thinking of getting a Malpassi Rising Rate Fuel Pressure Regulator for my car tomorow, coz apparently its not good running like 14-15psi of boost with the stock computer coz it goes too lean up around 6k+rpm so i think it may be worthwhile getting one to keep things safe til i can afford a microtech or the like.

see how i go i guess !

Yeah but I'm talking '68 2000 Auto

I dunno how your TC went quicker than a PI, PI has 33% more power, a crap load more torque and at lower revs. The only drama we have with our Mk1 PI (daily driven) is that very occasionally the number 5 injector gets clogged which is easy to fix... leave the car going, undo the two nuts that hold the injector in place, pull it out and flick the end of it till it sprays again. That has had a $$ rebuild though (dad could have put a 1JZ in there for what he spent :))

Our S will be quicker than a PI though.... because its got a stroked PI race engine in it and a side pipe lol

Just looked up the specs:

285 degree cam 0.400 lift, 10:1 compression, Extractors, triple 1 3/4 SU's re jetted by Carburettor Service at Auburn and O/Drive transmission.

Had 185 BHP.

Hmm.... I've never see a 2500 triple SU manifold.  I've got manifolds for triple Webers, and I know that the MD had triple Strombergs but that was on a 2 litre.

Hmm.... 185hp would go ok... wasn't mustard yellow though was it?

I had the car in late 80's, 88/93 and guess what?

I had never seen one either until I was talking to a guy at Triuph Tune at P'matta I think. He had it made up some years before and never used it. Just made aircleaner/ram tube difficult on number 2 carbie, as it was right on the strut tower.

I settled for short ram tubes with filter foam in them.

Early 80's I built a Hillman Hunter Wagon, 54/86 cam, 12:1 comp, twin 40mm DCOE's, extractors and that had 170 BHP going through a 5 speed celica box. Geoff Dellow made the sandwich plate to mount the celica box to the hillman bellhousing and the celica input shaft was machined down to hillan dimensions.

5L XLE C'Dores couldn't go past me.

That was a fun thing to drive.

Cool! :(

We've got a TR3A with 12.2:1, big cam, twin 40's (I think theyre 40's and not 45's) that runs avgas and has overdrive on second third and fourth, a Detroit Locker and LHD... thats fun

I aspire to own a TR4A or TR5 some day, I think the yanks have the TR5 as a TR250, but that's my all time favourite triumph.

Maybe when I'm old and don't need 400HP to thrill me anymore.

Maybe then I can co opt Tim down tassie to navigate for me in the Targa.

where have we gone now?

NOWHERE!

We all still here, Adam & I just having a chat.

But remember this: We wouldn't be driving what we are if it wasn't for the poms.

Nissan/Datsun bought their original blueprints from the then, British Motor Corporation

R30 series is sooooo what I reckon Triumph would have ended up with if they leyland merger hadnt occured.... sedans could have replaced saloon series and coupes could have replaced the TR's lol

Yeah, TR250 is a TR5 shell with a twin Stromberg 2.5, pretty gutless, about the same as a standard TC. Dad restored one 15 years ago, was the only registered one in SA for years, but it ran triple Webers and had black powdercoated 72 spoke wires

I have an urgent question.....i need to know can the rear oil pickup in an L24E block be used.....i need to make a new sump with the pickup at the back....and ive found a second location for the pickup to bolt to, but i dont know if it can be used...does it need to be drilled? or just bold the new one into place!!!

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
