i have an HKS 1 bar actuator (came with the turbo)

so the ebc (blitz DSBC spec s) is holding 4psi above that with a 6psi spike

exhaust wise i have a 3" straight through with decat and pathetic muffler that does basically nothing

what boost are you seeing and when?

you can try all you want gary, but i'm not EVER gonna run my car @ your recommended homo-spec guard fisting 4wd clearance... :)

(p.s. car is even lower now cos i'm cool like dat...) :)

That's OK, it's your choice after all. You are fully entilted to choose to look uber cool rather than go fast. :)

Heck, take the springs and shocks out all together, whack a bit of 4 x 2 in there instead, you can get it even lower then, no need for suspension travel :bunny:

Just don't brag about how powerfull your car is because it wheelspins all over the place, when the truth is it has no traction because looks are more important to you than going fast. :)

BTW, why have bothered building a big power engine when you can't use it? :)

Hey, it's a free country, other than the taxes, the police, the inspection nazis in SA, speed cameras, toll roads..............maybe it's not all that free when you think about it. :bunny:

Cheers

lol... traction is not a problem until > 300 so i recon its doing pretty well :P

truth be told i recon its not gonna be a problem with better rubber... atm the car has 235 federal 595ss cheapies on it, so i'm not that concerned... i'll see how i go with adrenalins @ the next tyre change and go from there.... atm i can stand on it in 2nd no worries on pulp, which is my daily fuel.

the suspension in my ke70 would really make you cringe :( but hey, you gotta look good man..... NS.com told me so :P

my standrard actuator that came with the hks 2835 pro wont hold more then .7bar without going nuts....so not too sure there...also having an issue with my hks evc 4....going to go sort that out tomorrow as it wasnt responding to learning mode.

i will see how we go by tomorrow if i make it to the tuners before end of day.

try running without the evc... they are not the easiest things to get setup... although usually its a >20psi issue...

you should be able to see 1 bar nicely.... also try running it with your exhaust dropped and see if that eliminates the prob

My car is slow by today's stds, sonds fast ad looks gay as its too high. If i deck it down to 325mm it will sound fast, look fast, and still be slow...so i have kind of made progress:)

Be interesting when my car finally sees the road again how much good the E85 does on it with the new manifolds and bogger exhaust housing.

my uber spec rear is set to 340 and looks ok, not as nice as 325 but my tyres last alot longer, 265 toyo t1r's, kaaz 2 way, whiteline camber kit set to max, groupbuy springs and shocks, cant complain, works great!

yeh we fixed the boost controller issue...but now there is another issues...its holding boost just fine til about 250rwkw and then boot drops....so there either must be a restriction and or a very fair sized air leak.

going to asses it tomorrow.

any hints?

Where are you measuring the boost? I always have at least 2 places for measuring boost, one at the compressor outlet and one past the throttle body/ies. That way I can tell if there is any boost drop due to restriction in the inlet ie; the pressure at the compressor outlet exceeeds the pressure at the engine by more than a couple of psi. If they are both the same (the boost drops the same) then there is either an air leak or the turbo has run out of airflow.

NYTSKY,

Is it your boost controller perhaps....the boost curve seems lazy when it comes onto boost as well....only making peak boost at 4900 rpm and immediately starts declining.

ke70! Hamish please throw some pics and specs up... I'm seriously considering one as a bit of a track hack/project

so far the car is running on corona struts with commo springs, xt130 lca's, lock spacers, 15x8 -9 ajps challengers, and flared guards

the car has a flat front conversion, and is getting a spraycan satin black job soon

motor is currnetly a 4ac in an AE71 crossmember, AE71 radiator & thermofan, and webber carby

gearbox is a t50 and the diff is an AE71 item welded shut.

new motor going in is a 4agte (ze block with custom turbo and cooler setup) with toda cams/gears should see around 150-160rwkw and car is getting stripped and caged

car will also be getting swaybars and possibly coiliver conversion....

ecu will be mocrotech... probably

will get pics up at some stage soon

    • Hey keep the ideas coming, I'm always keen on projects! But, problem fixed!  I got a cheapie ozito scope from Bunnings and had a good look in and around the bearing and sensor hole. I couldn't see a smoking gun but the bearing looked a bit strange, especially when comparing with a new one. I thought the cover had come off the bearing magnets.  Sorry for pics of a screen, I didn't have an SD card.     Good thing I had the old one to inspect. So, given I'm like a pit crew with wheel bearings and luckily I had a spare bearing because I f**ked up my parts order, I decided to just smash it out. Got the old one out in about an hour. So much easier when the parts haven't had a chance to rust together yet. 😂 And, well, found the problem.    In the second pic at about the 8 o'clock position, you'll see what I think is the tip of the old sensor.  The new sensor has definitely been rubbing but it's all intact, just a little shiny so I'm hoping it's fine.  The car brakes perfectly now and no errors.  I think the job took about 2.5h in the end. 👍🏻 I really appreciate the help in here as usual. Thanks guys.
    • I was only looking because I saw some drops on the ground but it wasn't alot. Recently had it serviced will ask the mech to confirm. Find it strange that it looks standard though, can see in another photo of a random box
    • So...not sure if you know if that has always been there or why you went looking. It could be old damage from a clutch explosion, or even just the gearbox got dropped somewhere along the line. Basically, you should seal it up to stop oil and dust getting into the bellhousing, but it doesn't matter too much and is not structural. I'd suggest something like a glob of JB Weld. BTW what gearbox oil are you running, I would guess the breather has been spewing it everywhere.
    • Hey Duncan thanks for your reply. Sorry mate I know the photos are shit.  Took another photo for reference. Seems the casing does have a hole in it looking on the net, fluid seeping out. Added a photo
    • Very hard to make out what you mean, is it the squarish hole with redline shockproof (probably) under it? Is that pic from on top of the engine with the firewall to the left of pic and engine to the right? Either way, spray the area liberally with degreaser and try again, maybe circle the part you are worried about
