Nah I didn't import it myself..But I did go all the way to Melbourne to find it. It took a little time but it was well worth it. The car has been in Australia around 2 yrs.

Good luck with whatever you choose to look for :(

Are there no original godzilla purists left? or am I the only one?

I'm with ya Pentae, 32 GTR's rock. Obviously personal taste is a big issue here. But i'll tell you why 32's 'do it' for me.

Many reviewers of any series GTR consider the 32 to have the perfect dimensions; size, weight, etc. This is the car that won THE (Japanese Group A, etc) races, everything about the car is purposeful and it continues to hold idol worship status as the 'purist' of GTR's. The R33 is considered to be far more comercialised, roomier, - therefore more practical, etc (Still an awesome machine!). It was released

at a time when competitors were starting to catch up in terms of equivalent rivals, e.g. Rx7 Series 6 & TT Supra. I believe the 400R was developed to counter this. Whereas the race 32 GTR is basically the most similar to the road going version, the 33R is heaps different. Lets not forget the wheelbase on the R34 GTR's actually shrank to capture the similar feel of the 32's. V-Spec 1 & 2 32's have the ATTESA-ETS PRO and Brembo's of the 33's so I guess they'd be your most desirable purchase if thats the package you're after.

the 400R wasn't a full scale model variant....it was a limited edition by Nismo=not able to sell thru Nissan dealerships due to the 280ps 'limit'....

Same with other manufacturers who sell their 'over-280ps' machines thru their tuning/sports division like TRD/Mazdaspeed/Tom's/Mugen etc etc...

i love the r32. lighter, with a more balls out racer look, this thing really whets my whistle... to me "godzilla" epitomises why japanese perfomance motoring has become so popular. still, its a good point that in some time, a whole lot of fuc kwits will be driving these weapons around thinking their top dog, yet knowing little about why its such a popular vehicle...

thrashdemon: yeah, I think in early 2005 when r32 GTR's will cost under 20 grand, every idiot falcadore driver will be driving one and these cars will be very common. The majority of bogans will be climbing out of their VL turbo's into one, and rice them on the cheap. ;)

T0ny: Yeah I agree.

I think the best way to treat the car is to service it like a road-registered Class-A Race car. Which it essentially is.

Complete oil change (I choose Motul based racing lubricants) and service every 5000km's for starters would be mandatory, and will probably save you money in the long run.

Making sure the car is serviced by the right people who service these vehicles on a daily basis would be an integral part of owning one in my opinion.

Hopefully this will put the car in the 'too hard and expensive to maintain' basket for falcadore owners or young p-plater drivers who want something to hoon in.

I have driven both the R32 GTR and the R33 GTR.....

Like most guys have said, R32 GTR's feel more like a race car, being more compact and slightly lighter, but I reckon the GTR has the looks, I love those curves.....Interior on both is a bit plain but I prefer the R33 one...Also better ATTESSA system and brembos on the R33 made it the choice for me.....

personally i would go the r32 mainly cos i love them so damn much!

the r33 doesnt really appeal to me in looks...although with the right body kit they can look smick as! but the r32 stock just looks so sexy while the r33 doesnt...to me at least

performance wise the r33 is heavier and a wider body

just cos something is new doesnt make it better does it?

ive seen it heaps...ppl think new is better cos its new but really if u know ur stuff some times its not the case

but if u really want orginal gtr there is the gts-r r31 or even the 2000 gt-r...id love one of those

sorry went off track but i would take the r32 any day over the r33

The windshield on the R32 slopes more than the R33's upright looking windshield.

The small factory wheels on the R32 GTR somehow look so damn awesome on the car.

The fact that the R32 GTR is the original bad boy. Godzilla. It's like The MATRIX vs Matrix 2 and 3 to me.

I want a real race car. Not a daily driver. I have done so much damn research on these cars. Much thanks to these forums. I have read elsewhere that the R33GTR is a better drive. But in the end, after looking long and hard at an R34T-T. I am going for what feels like the top of the range, the real thing. The beast growling below in my garage begging me to take it to Eastern Creek. The R32 GT-R. She's going to be mine. Litterally. Any day now.

Looking forward to posting some more in this forum guys. My Alfa takes a bow, she'll do anything mr GT-R tells her to do or he'll just slap her one!

Wow justin, I remember welcoming you to the board not so long ago when you where still new to the world of Skylines looking at the R34 Tiptronics.. I remember suggesting to you to do just that and research more into the skylines and look at the earlier model GTR's. I must admit it makes me proud to read that post and see someone take such a positive learning curve and ending up with the ultimate street racing machine of all time parked in their garage.

Cheers pentae! Yep it hasn't been long since I've been on these forums. But I always have loved Japanese cars. The Alfa has been another world for sure and the gearbox on it, the Selespeed clutchless manual is just amazing in comparisson to a "tiptronic" which really is just a full automatic gearbox in disguise.

The Alfa 147GTA, with 250hp, a V6 engine and fatter, wider body comes out with the Ferarri 360 Modena clutchless manual gearbox in February! It's going to cost about $75k!!!! But I am still considering trading my normal little Alfa 147 in for it. How I come up with the money I don't know! But I don't want the R32 GT-R to be my daily driver. I will be taking it out to Eastern Creek for sure.

The GT-R is in for inspection today. I find out tomorrow whether it passes or not! If it passes it's all mine!

MUAHAHAHAHA! I am pretty excited! :D

    • I refreshed the OEM injectors with the kit and connected it up. It now ideals okay even with the IACV removed. Driving still has the same cutoff issue like the 550cc injectors so the issue is somewhere else. I bought FPG's Fuel Pump Hanger. I will be installing it next, but it is not as straightforward as I thought it was with my limited wiring knowledge and no instruction on the specific model I purchased (FPG-089). I also got the incorrect billet clamp as I could not find info on the OEM sizing.
    • Stop looking at the garage floor, and turn the radio up a bit louder if there's any strange noises...
    • No. Turbo shuffle and surge/flutter are not the same thing. Specifically, on a GTR, turbo shuffle has a definite meaning. On a GTR, the twin turbos are assumed to be the same thing and to operate the same way, exactly. In reality, they do not. Their exhaust sides are fed and exhaust a little differently, to each other. Their inlet sides are fed and exhausted a little differently, to each other. Consequently, when they are "working" they are often at slightly different points on the compressor map compared to each other. What this means, particularly when coming on boost, is that one of them will spool up and start producing extra flow compared to the other, which will put back pressure on that other compressor, which will push the operating point on that other compressor up (vertically). This will generally result in it bumping up against the surge line on the map, but even if it doesn't, it upsets the compressor and you get this surging shuffle back and forth between them That is "turbo shuffle" on a GTR. It is related to other flutter effects heard on other turbo systems, but it is a particular feature of the somewhat crappy outlet piping arrangement on RB26s. There are plenty of mods that have been attempted with varying levels of success. People have ground out and/or welded more material into the twin turbo pipe to try to prevent it. Extending the divider inside it works, removing material doesn't. There are aftermarket replacement twin turbo pipes available, and these exist pretty mush purely because of this shuffle problem.
    • You can temporarily* use lock collars to keep it in place until you can do the bushes, back the nuts off, slide them in, snug back up. *temporarily is often for ever
    • Thanks for the quick reply. To be clear, when you say turbo shuffle do you mean turbo flutter "stustustu" or referring to something else? I had thought they were the same thing. When I wrote the post my intention was to say it wasn't a flutter/compression surge sound. My understanding was that a flutter sound would be occurring when throttle is released, whereas I can keep the throttle in the same position for this noise
