Martin/Noel what do I need to run in the sprints?

AASSASASA License?

Helmet

Long sleeved shirt, pants enclosed shoes.

Extinguisher req'd?

I want to start doing a few sprints this year so I want to start getting this stuff sorted out.

Car wise the only plans are

Service

New pads, rotors, fluid, braided brake lines

Oil cooler

???

Profit?

No extinguiser required Col but it isnt a bad thing to have.

Other than your above list all you need is a helmet. Its a good idea to have your spanner do a pre track inspection if its your cars first serious outing.

Pre track inspection sounds like a good idea. Will have to speak to the resident ogre.

AASA licence yep. Can buy one on the day $20 for day licence or $55 for yearly licence (from memory).

Helmet yes.

Long sleeve shirt and pants yes (technically must be flame proof or some sh*t)

Enclosed shoes yes.

No extinguisher required.

I always carry a tonne of tools, but that is probably just because my car always breaks :P

Yep always a good idea.

So... Ice Cream tonight? Who's keen?

In.

Will be there most probably.

Probably? What's this probably sh*t?

Probably something non synthetic that won't melt if you do catch it on fire.

Anyway i'll rock up tonight, hell i might even wash my car first if its not going to rain.

The chair.

Cool. I must ask you about that tonight...

Probably something non synthetic that won't melt if you do catch it on fire.

Yeah that's the one. Cotton is good.

I should be there this evening, pending no last minute complications

Kids had their shots last night, so are a bit fussy at the moment

Deal them some tough love.

Car back at 4pm :) Who's a happy man? I AM!

Race? :P

One way to figure out what the next weakest link in the car is :P

Then it can go back to Dan and he can put up with my bitching all over again!

Bitching? hardly!

Gave the car a quick wash. Effort spent waxing it last month finally pays off! and will again and again for the next... few months. (its turtle wax that's supposed to last at least 6 months, however the manufacture date is 2001.)

    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
    • I don't get in here much anymore but I can help you with this.   The hole is a vent (air relief) for the brake proportioning valve, which is built into the master cylinder.    The bad news is that if brake fluid is leaking from that hole then it's getting past the proportioning valve seals.   The really bad news is that no spare parts are available for the proportioning valve either from Nissan or after market.     It's a bit of a PITA getting the proportioning valve out of the master cylinder body anyway but, fortunately, leaks from that area are rare in my experience. BTW, if those are copper (as such) brake lines you should get rid of them.    Bundy (steel) tube is a far better choice (and legal  in Australia - if that's where you are).
    • EMU Classic. For what I need it to do I see no reason to upgrade. Link and Haltech would both cost an extra chunk of money for a lot of unutilized features
