Would this be of any interest, Scotsman?

http://winterrally.ballarat.net.au/

Maybe SAUVIC could enter a 3 car team?

Perhaps...

So is this event similar to dutton in that it's a total event with lots of sub events?

It sounds like there is two events running simultaneously with an observation rally running with a touring rally.

Do these guys close off any cool road sections or anything like that or is it just drive from one motorkhana to another?

Me too man. Have you got much left in the AO50s? I wanna see you get a 35 if the tyres are still good.

there is a fair amount left on them. i will be shitty if i cant break a 35.... but im just pulling numbers out of my ass.

hopefully it is dry... none of this intermittant crap. i wont complain if it pours all day... winton is SO much fun in the wet.

watching some of their vids it looks like you could blow them away in the gemini

Great effort guys, congrats on the win. Ryan, top stuff mate, awesome times at PI and HH. Go the S13!!

Thanks mate, just bridging the gap till you get back... any news on yours??

AND CAR 39!!!! :(

ah yes, who can forget a 1.46 in a stock car on street tyres.

Haha I don't think so, I may be chasing you for a while!

My never-ending-story of a car will hopefully be back over the next few weeks. The engine is out of it again with oil pump dramas, so I've bought a new one and it's being machined and installed at the moment along with a new set of big end bearings. The rest is pretty much done, so it's up to my engine builders to get it back, then bolt it in, tune it and off we go... hopefully... :P

Hey guys,

Just a heads up that all the images are now online - www.atcphotos.com

there was a delay with getting the Lang Lang images on-line due to Holden needing to approve them all first.., but they are alll approved now.

all images are at 800x533pixels in the main galleries, but the Hires section has 1960x1360pixels ( just click on the "FULL SIZE" icon above the image.

Cheers

Jason

Thanks mate.

So when is Winton Ryan? I dont have many lap around the place, i have done more from the passenger seat doign driver training :D But a 36 is 100% possible without all that many laps, so i have my fingers crossed that with some decent weather and 14-16 laps to get dialled in you can get well into the 35s :D COME ON! :)

We need a winton thread. its going to be HUGE! with the way the car handles at the moment god knows how it will actually go... its very different to the way it use to be, im thinkin its because the rear end is now all sweet.

4 weeks, your car could be done and your probably due for some time off... how bout it?

I have no idea, but yeah as of seeing the vids, it doesn't look that hard ( ). I was thinking of entering the Superfunhappyracingswift, but it's FWD and the GF is not up to navigating speed....yet  (plus i'll be OS when it's on)

It looks like a Rally event on tarmac....just navigate your way to each special stage, and then complete on motorkhana kinda stages then off to the next location for the next motorkhana stage.

Motorkhana and navigating skills look like the order of the day. :P

But next year i'll be entering....providing the Swift is gone

Havent given my car a thought since Dutton, so no clue where it is at and care factor is pretty low since i am going to be OS for some time to come...lol project has copped further commissioning delays so how does November now sound :D. So no way i can make it back to Aus...perhaps when i am up for a new visa but even then now that you are setting some good rwd times i am happy to sit back and let you settle my arguments :)

Ah Troy, just throw me the keys, I'll let you know how deep into the 35's I get.

You know you want to... :D

Jak if you could fit into it then no issues with trusting you with the keys. As for Ryan, no way. The guy has an appetite for breaking rear ends, gearboxes and other wierd stuff. I suppose thats the price for going quick

LOL how quickly we forget a particular round at PI a while ago :D

    • After using a protractor for an actually accurate assessment of what is required,  and by NOT using my uncalibrated eyeball I worked out I need a 25° silicone bend from the TB ro the MAF, but, my choice was either a 30° or a 23° (23° is a weird spec), so I grabbed the 23° one from Raceworks I also grabbed 1mtr of 3" straight from Just Jap, I needed 350mm, but they only had 300mm, or 1mtr lengths....meh Also ordered a 1/2" hose bulkhead fitting from fleabay, this has a smoothish mushroom looking head (they are designed for below the water line of boats) that will fit inside the bend, the hose bit and threaded bit looks to long, but nothing that a hacksaw cannot fix if required, the hose will then just get jamed on the threaded bit up to the retaining nut Fingers crossed and the unsightly amount of hose clamps will be reduced down to 4 once all the parts arrive
    • Oil change does not trigger code 21. Code 21 is for coilpacks primary side connection. You can try to clear the code with a battery disconnect, hold down the brake pedal to drain capacitors through the brake lights with the ignition on for 10-15 seconds before you reconnect the battery. I have seen R35 coil conversion permanently cause this code with no ill effects so it might be the resistance it wants to see isn't quite right on one or more coilpacks. Could be inside the ECU, could be the harness, could be a coil. You can test it all if you want or just ignore until the car actually starts misfiring.
    • I forgot you have a Nistune ECU. Use Nistune to do all the tests I mentioned instead of faffing with 30+ year old electrical connectors. You can read MAF volts off that too, there are reference values in the service manual to tell you roughly what it should be in different conditions.
    • No. I think it might be the AFM. Hence the use of the terms "swaptronics", which implies the use of swapping out electronics for the purpose of diagnosis. It's about the only way to prove that a small/niggling/whatever problem with an AFM or a CAS or similar is actually caused by that AFM/CAS/whatever. A known good item swapped in that still gives the same problem is likely to be caused somewhere else. They're all the same. Spraying AFMs with cleaner is an each way bet between cleaning it and f**king it.
    • Oh wow! This might actually work amazingly. Do you know the ratio of the diff? I was told the only thing you need to make sure of is if the front & rear diff ratios are the same. Ours is a 4.083 Thanks!
