A great few days away, really enjoyed it, hopefully go along next year...and maybe win something. I would also like to thank Cara for getting this started and sorting out my paperwork and payments, also Ben for the cooked food, and the organization of the rest of the event after Cara left.

Congratulations to Shane for PURESX and Pete for his chopper "SLED", and of course the raffle winners...even though one sort of cheated.

Saturday at the show was indeed rather hot, so everyone kept there fluid levels up....some more hydrating then others. After the show, Krishy, Ruby, Inline6, Luke_ENR34, Fliggy and myself went for a dip in the pool...which was really good.

Our token drunk, Luke, did get drunk on Saturday night, but not as nearly as we had hoped :( , so unfortunately he didn't end up with any art work, but did almost end up in the pool.

We were going to draw on his face this morning but he woke upicon7.gif. Again thanks to Cara and Ben for organising it all. Congrat's to all the trophie winner's and raffle ticket winnersicon1.gif. Keen for next year's show.

Ahh yes, forgot to thank Stuart Edwards, Cara and the crew at Autopro loxton for securely storing some vehicles, for their organization of the show and for all the hard work in general. I think it was over 150 entrants too, this time we had some boats there as well. It was a bit too hot for me to own the bouncey castle but maybe next year eh

Also had great fun with the UHF radios on the way up. I'll be sourcing myself a 5 watter like Pete has, which means I have two 0.5 watt digitechs for sale @ $20 each - they transmit up to 4 cars in front of you and can listen in to any signals within 10 km

PM me if you're keen - I know some of you had UHF's but didnt bring them, and I reckon I'm going to want to pursuade every car to have a radio of some sort for any long distance cruises. Not sure when the next Kadina show is, but I'll definately go to that and plan it, and maybe if Les Adams schedules the Mt Gambier show at a time other than a) so close to loxton b) same weekend as extreme HP then I'd like to do that one as well.

Time to relax and rest my sore legs and swig on more alcohol.

dude luke was f ing off his face, it was only threats of him walking home and shoving water in his face every 10 seconds that kept him in a resonable state in the morning. not sure if i should break out all the sh*t luke was saying to anyone and everyone that would listen to him for 2 seconds. dude that iphone gonna get you put in jail 1 day, u should go back to a non picture phone. o and by the way see this guy here, he's got a GTR lol

kudo's to ben for organising what was a great time away. call me the odd 1 out but the car show is very lil of the reason i went, was more about just getting away from the city n drinking some booze

n ryan& bec team antisocial. you shoulda come had brekky with us, unless you got the sled andrew honeymoon package 2 ;)

feel bad for chris and the incident as it was my idea to head back to the hotel room then :D rednecks can strike at any moment without warning. had 1 nearly sideswipe as we turned onto the main st on arrival.

also for the 4am morning wake up call to abe, i shall accept 20% blame for that incident.

Dude..it was 3am, wasnt it? the clock said so...and don't worry about it, you were looking after Luke, i am more surprised that Tim didn't get woken up by the knocking at the door and Luke's carry on when he got inside. Oh, whoever as snoring kept me awake. Had an interesting drive back through Murray Bridge, got to the BP there to fill up, they were sold out of Ultimate :( , so i had to go put Shell in. How did your fuel issues go on the way back Luke?

Thanks Pete, Shane, Martin and Luke for cruising back together from Loxton, how did the other way go for you guys? Sorry about the phone call too Pete, i couldn't really hear you, next time i should have a 2way.

the club shut at 3 we left about 10min before that when i was satified luke wasnt gonna chuck in my car, also piss poor form on bar staff refusing to give any more glasses of water and charging me 3bucks for a tiny bottle. i was like wtf he just bought $60 of vodka and clearly off his tree but all part of the adventure :(

what was also wierd was the 3 punch ups there, like its a country town you have to see those people every day still

Slight paint fractures from bottoming out, some scuffing on the front bar, but ya get that.

prolly get the lip removed for phase 3 of painting etc -might very well leave it off until we have a show

you'll always get that shit in rural shows, thats why judges are a little lenient for the random stone chip - they know that theres no way we're putting car bras on

Yeah I had fun too. We scored well with raffle tickets, Luke got 2 prizes (some oil and something else), pete got a CD rack, I won a DVD player and Dion won a digital tv set top tuner... shane scored 2 awards for puresx and pete won 2 awards for the sled (which positively had the locals drooling).. had many many drinks on the saturday night (except for pete who is old and needed his nap), with more than a couple of us waking up this morning feeling rather seedy... Andrew in particular was worse for wear, after we hit martins supply of cigars and rounded off the second bottle of bourbon.... capped it all off with a midnight feed of bacon and egg sandwiches cooked on the outdoor bbq.... too good. I managed to get 2 breakfasts, a midnight feed and a sausage sizzle lunch today for everyone and I still had leftovers to take home. We also got given a bunch of free yiros' by the Loxton Cricket Club at the end of the day - they had a fundraiser stall set up next to us.

Sunday we went on the Riverland cruise from Loxton to Berri to Renmark... loads of great cars came out - I can't think of any event which would have jap imports, american and aussie muscle next to restored morrises, a ferrari, a lamborghini, a couple of replica shelby cobras (not that you can tell they're replicas) and all the other esoteric cars that came for the ride.

On a down note, Dion blew his turbo while we had a little run around the riverside this morning, however it didn't stop him from keeping up with us on the way home, and has given him some new toys to buy

Bring on Riverland Expo 2010. I'll be there.

Yeah i can do that for ya.

Well I'm typing this from a motel room in Kingston SE so I won't be uploading any pics until I get back to Adelaide.

I had a great time on the weekend....something very special about country shows as locals are always very welcoming and accommodating, not to mention that they appreciate our toys as some don't always get to the big smoke too often.

The peeps that eventually made it to Loxton where all a great bunch and had lots of fun with them. Was good to spend more time wth Shane & Christine and my thoughts of him as SAU-SA President have only been vindicated.....will be a travesty if he's not there after the upcoming commitee election.

Congrats to all members contribution for the weekend, Ryan & Shane for the trophy wins, the few that one raffle prizes, and a special thanks to Ben (Dohmar) for his tireless effort in organizing the whole event and then feeding us on top of that, well done.

And last but not least, Andrew (Nightcrawler), where do I start??

Apart from being my room buddy and a top mate, we had some huge laughs.

We had a pretty heavy session of drinks Frid night that started at 4pm and finished approx 12am for Andew and after 1am for me in Krishy's room where mixing drinks was mandatory. I was pretty smashed that night and took it easy the rest of the weekend, however, the following night I crashed early and the last I remember, Martin (Hostile) and Andrew disappeared into Krishy's room for another session.....hours later Andrew staggered into the room and passed out on his bed....dam, so many opportunities with a texta and a camera were missed, lol......he was under the weather before touching any alcohol so he would've never woken up!

And a quick message to the black prince who somehow picked up a local gangy on Friday night within seconds......look at my daughter for longer than 3 seconds & I'll stab you in the eyes!!

    • I'm looking for some real world experiences/feed back from anyone who has personally ran a EFR7670 with a 1.05 exhaust housing or a .83 I'm leaning towards the .83 because its a street car used mostly for spirited driving in the canyons roads. I"m not looking for big numbers on paper. I want a responsive powerband that will be very linear to 8000 rpm. I dont mind if power remains somewhat flat but dont want power to drop off on top. The turbo I've purchased is a 1.05, although the mounting flange T3 vs T4 and internal vs external waste gates are different on both housings, I not concern about swapping parts or making fabrication mods to get what I want. Based on some of the research I've done with chat gpt, the 1.05 housing seems to be the way to go with slightly more lag and future proofing for more mods but recommends .83 for best response/street car setup. AI doesn't have the same emotions as real people driving a GTR so I think you guys will be able to give me better feed back 😀
    • Surely somebody has one in VIC. Have you asked at any shops?  Is this the yearly inspection or did you get a canary?
    • This is where I share pain with you, @Duncan. The move to change so many cooling system pieces to plastic is a killer! Plastic end tanks and a few plastic hose flanges on my car's fail after so little time.  Curious about the need for a bigger rad, is that just for long sessions in the summer or because the car generally needs more cooling?
    • So, that is it! It is a pretty expensive process with the ATF costing 50-100 per 5 litres, and a mechanic will probably charge plenty because they don't want to do it. Still, considering how dirty my fluid was at 120,000klm I think it would be worth doing more like every 80,000 to keep the trans happy, they are very expensive to replace. The job is not that hard if you have the specialist tools so you can save a bit of money and do it yourself!
    • OK, onto filling. So I don't really have any pics, but will describe the process as best I can. The USDM workshop manual also covers it from TM-285 onwards. First, make sure the drain plug (17mm) is snug. Not too tight yet because it is coming off again. Note it does have a copper washer that you could replace or anneal (heat up with a blow torch) to seal nicely. Remove the fill plug, which has an inhex (I think it was 6mm but didn't check). Then, screw in the fill fitting, making sure it has a suitable o-ring (mine came without but I think it is meant to be supplied). It is important that you only screw it in hand tight. I didn't get a good pic of it, but the fill plug leads to a tube about 70mm long inside the transmission. This sets the factory level for fluid in the trans (above the join line for the pan!) and will take about 3l to fill. You then need to connect your fluid pump to the fitting via a hose, and pump in whatever amount of fluid you removed (maybe 3 litres, in my case 7 litres). If you put in more than 3l, it will spill out when you remove the fitting, so do quickly and with a drain pan underneath. Once you have pumped in the required amount of clean ATF, you start the engine and run it for 3 minutes to let the fluid circulate. Don't run it longer and if possible check the fluid temp is under 40oC (Ecutek shows Auto Trans Fluid temp now, or you could use an infrared temp gun on the bottom of the pan). The manual stresses the bit about fluid temperature because it expands when hot an might result in an underfil. So from here, the factory manual says to do the "spill and fill" again, and I did. That is, put an oil pan under the drain plug and undo it with a 17mm spanner, then watch your expensive fluid fall back out again, you should get about 3 litres.  Then, put the drain plug back in, pump 3 litres back in through the fill plug with the fitting and pump, disconnect the fill fitting and replace the fill plug, start the car and run for another 3 minutes (making sure the temp is still under 40oC). The manual then asks for a 3rd "spill and fill" just like above. I also did that and so had put 13l in by now.  This time they want you to keep the engine running and run the transmission through R and D (I hope the wheels are still off the ground!) for a while, and allow the trans temp to get to 40oC, then engine off. Finally, back under the car and undo the fill plug to let the overfill drain out; it will stop running when fluid is at the top of the levelling tube. According to the factory, that is job done! Post that, I reconnected the fill fitting and pumped in an extra 0.5l. AMS says 1.5l overfill is safe, but I started with less to see how it goes, I will add another 1.0 litres later if I'm still not happy with the hot shifts.
