It is with pleasure we enclose information for a new and exciting event to be held in Mount Gambier South Australia on Oct 31st to Nov 1st 2009.

Australia’s longest running Street Machine motoring event. The Mount Gambier Show N Shine has just celebrated their 30th anniversary and was seriously looking at ceasing this landmark show and after hearing of this we immediately contacted the organisers, talks were held with the South East street Machines, Mount Gambier City Council as well as the A&H Show Society and a partnership was formed to continue the event with Autofest steering it back to one of South Australia’s premier events.

Between us we could see the benefits of combining resources and by adding the Autofest trademark driving events to the static display Show N Shine it is anticipated that the Mount Gambier event will have more appeal than ever to both Competitors and Visitors.

Mount Gambier Autofest and Show N Shine is a promotion of a performance car festival that provides the true motor vehicle enthusiast with the opportunity to display their skills and vehicles against other enthusiasts in a safe, controlled and friendly environment.

The venue for the 2009 AutoFest is the Mount Gambier showgrounds which offers an ideal location with its unique, ready-made roadways suited to driving events and display areas set on landscaped surrounds. AutoFest is all about admiring the best cars in the land and spending quality time with family and friends, whilst witnessing some of the most powerful cars compete side by side in events such as Go To Whoa, Motorkana, Show N Shine, Car Audio Competition, Dyno Challenge and the fiercely competitive Burnout Title.

The Mount Gambier Event is alcohol free and thus promotes a true family atmosphere where spectators are able to enjoy the enthusiasm and excitement of a motor vehicle event in a friendly environment. This has been evidenced by the fact of strong crowd attendances consisting largely of families of all ages.

AutoFest presents itself as a fantastic marketing tool for companies to profile their products and/or services to target audiences covering a huge range of people from across Australia with the main audience coming from SA, Victoria and New South Wales

Street Rods, Street Machines, Restored and Kustoms are All Welcome.

+1

I would love the enter it but unfortunately the Extreme HP show is on the same weekend...

Autofest is all about enjoying your ride with family and freinds. Events include,Dyno Challenge, Go To Whoa, Motokana/Corkscrew, Show N Shine, Burnout Comp, Side Show Alley and More

That sounds like much more fun than extreme HP :) pity its so far away tho - might wanna make sure you're not running the event next year at the same time as any other events in SA, would get many more people i suspect

-D

Mt Gambier is only 4 - 4.5 hours drive away which isnt that far as we are going to berry which is like 3-3.5hrs away....so only like another hour to drive.....pretty much its just straight roads and awesome roads as you get closer to the Mount.....cant wait to get back down there

As the others have pointed out Les, this clashes with the Extreme Horsepower Show at Wayville. We'd love to enter both, but unfortunately having to pick one the EHP show is just more convenient. For the benefit of the SAU:SA Chapter too, we are also seeking an R35 for our club display, and its just easier to gain an R35 in the display for EHP than down at the MGAF.

:D

id eb more interested in this than whatever the hell else is happening that weekend. seems like theres an opportunity to engage in some spirited driving at this one instead of just polishing your car 4000 times over the course of the weekend to keep it pretty for the judges.

Or well for me its - polish it once, then sleep in it the rest of the day :)

Given there are a whole 10 or so car shows in SA every year, this is unbelievably poor planning to have it on the same weekend as EHP.

+ 1 and considering the dates for EHP were released first...............

As most would understand its always very difficult when allocating dates for motoring events.

Considerations are given for all types of reasons including, weather, venue availbility, other similar events around proposed dates etc etc.

When consulting with Mount Gambier Council and the Venue all facets were considered including the indoor event at Adelaide and as Autofest events differs from an indoor event and includes driving events that involves entrant participation this was considered not to be a detrimental factor to either event.

Those who wish to only display their car and live within easy distance of Adelaide would suport the extreme event whilst others that wanted to be more involved with driving competitions and the like would be catered for at the Mount Gambier event.

With entrants already from both Victoria and South Australia booked into the Mount and i'm sure that extreme would be seeing similar within their event i beleive that both will prosper and have their own appeal to those that attend each event.

Unfortunately ppl are becoming less and less interested in traveling to a premier car show such as this, because its a given that we are all enthusiasts and want to drive our pride and joys to the event, but all that happens is that we get defected along the way by the cops. An event such as this is a real economy boost to the local area, but every single person I know, including myself will not be attending due to the associated police presence. Sorry.

Organizers of such events really need to take this up with the SA government. Anyone tried to drive an import out to Malalla to watch an event lately? You all know what happens.

    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drive beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
