Tein super street is cheap shit that Tein make a shit load of money off because ppl buy it because it's Tein. The shocks are shit and the height is only adjustable on the spring perch so if U don't have it within 15mm each way of the centre of the suspension travel, u'll either be hitting bump stops or lifting wheels.

Greddy Type S would be better but far too stiff.

Tein Mono Flex are a far better option. They're about $150 more a set than Greddy Type S. The shocks are better in them but again, although better than the Greddy's, the springs still seem too stiff for street use.

EDFC is for VERY lazy people and you're much better spending the extra money on a better product than bling like that.

Tein Mono Flex for R33 - $1908 with today's exchange rate plus shipping on perfectrun.jp . If it was me, I'd ditch the 8k front and 6k rear springs and fit some 5k front and 4k rear and a pair of whiteline swaybars. It'll handle better and be much more comfortable than 8/6 with stock swaybars.

Edit: ah shit I just realised U already have em.

Yeh I already have them! The option of changing the springs may be a good one down the track depending on availability/cost/plans down the track. Cheers

Hi Guys

Sorry for bringing up an old thread. Found an almost new Tein SS for ER34 for sale, willing to try them out after many years using Nismo R-Tunes which are terrific but can be too harsh for daily usage. Just wondering is the Teins made in Japan or are they sub-out to China to manufacture? Are there any fakes around? From my understanding the spring rates are 6/4 for the Teins, would i be able to swap the Nismo 9/9 which has higher spring rates should i find the teins too soft?

Appreciate feedbacks...thanks.

The nismo shocks would be heaps better than tein super street. Just get some 6kg front and 5kg rear springs for the nismo's and it should be sweet.

I really like the Nismo's but i the front pair was rebuilt once a year plus ago, now one side is making noise. And recently did the rear just a couple of months ago which i suspect that the rebuilt was not very good, as there is no feel of rebound at all (loss of compression feeling). Anyone knows how many times can the shocks be rebuilt? Been using the Nismo's for 4 years already.

Regards to Greddy Type S, i believe they are the same as BC Racing BR spec series because both body & spec are the same. Hoping someone can give more input on the Greddy which is my preferred choice compare to Teins.

i have been running the greddy's for a couple of years now and they are a great coilover for a street car that hits the track occasionally.

they dont bother me as a daily and i run them on max the whole time as car is very low

Nismo & Greddy probably put more testing plus QC on their products. I get some good & bad feedback bout the Teins SS, the only good thing is they are comfortable for street driving. But they lack precision & too soft for track use, plus I heard of early rebuilt after few months of use. That's why i am sceptical on the Teins QC. Hope they do something about it.

Anyone know how many times can we rebuilt coilovers before the wear&tear of shaft is beyond it's usage?

i have to say dude, i had a set a of tein ss in my s13 for a year and they never made a sound or gave me a problem apart from the damper adjuster playing up a bit. it didnt affect the damper rates was just a pain to adjust at times. a mate of mine has had his set of teins for god knows how long but they look pretty damn old and are still fine with no noise either.

i havent really heard bad things about the teins myself, only people wishing they got the higher spring rates!

ive had a look at the greddy and they look really well made and they get a lot of good feedback as well, another great brand is ISC, i think if i were to replace mine thats what ill be getting next. they are built well and for a great price!

Heard about the damper adjuster problems on the Teins too. My Nismo is still precise after 4 years using cos there is only 4 settings for the front which need to push & twist to change it. The rear are 8 settings with a knob on the body. I wish to keep my Nismo R-Tunes until there is a proper rebuilt place who has the spec and now I want to try out the BC Racing (aka Greddy Type) which is selling at a resonable price, plus it is monotube. There is no Greddy selling in my country and the closest place to get the BC is in Singapore.

Btw is it possible to fit higher spring rates for the Tein SS since the damper settings are more for the softer springs?

Anybody have any more info on the comparison of the Greddys and the BC's? I have been told the Greddys are built by BC. If anyone can confirm I would like to know if I'm better off saving my money and going for the cheaper BC's?

Thanks.
