haha, me and the missus were discussing that when in the city over the weekend... we decided we either wanted the plates "NOTCAR" or something like "BIKE" just to confuse those people ;)

LOL!

I always wanted to get the number plates STOLEN.

Drive around with those on and watch the attention you get from Police and Public alike...

plates ive owned and the price sold for

HKS32 - $350

IDV82 - $350 ( I Deviate Too )

XXR34 - $400

OIM007 - Current (Im 007) < forsale

OFA79 - Current (FAT) < forsale

FASTCAR - Current < forsale

Personally, I've never bought the really expensive Number Plates for fear of overcapitalisation and waste of money.

That's never stopped me from admiring the good ones though.

Funny how the US ppl call them 'Vanity Plates'

What I did find however, after buying sets for cars I've owned, is that they can actually help to sell a car; particularly to an enthusiast.

3 Cars that we've had, come to mind...

GTR33Z off a R33 GT-R

MYI64Q off one of only 40X Alfa Romeo 164Qs in Oz

N.BM523 off a BMW 523

All 3 new owners admired the plates that came with the cars.

Please, no-one ask, "Yessss, but were the cars any good?" Because the answer is, "Yesssssssssssss they were!!!" ;)

i picked mine up for 200 bucks brand new.. he was asking a thousand.

only GOOD plates are worth money, and its a matter of luck of a person who is willing to spend it coming across you.

Was speaking to a bloke about a week ago.. just bought himself a Porsche Boxter. His wife has a particular number plate that I never seen before on her Mazda 3, said he collects them for all his cars... One for the Porsche he wants was $20,000 or $40,000. Cant remember, but anyway... ridiculous for a number plate!

Saw some Government Holden the number plate was Black with a gold Crown on it and that was it. Was turning into the government house in rosalie

I saw this in Ballarat in Vic about 12 months ago. Anyone know what this plate is for? Wonder what the rego sticker looks like lol.

That would of been the Governor Generals car. The crown representing the Queen.

The Prime Ministers is 'C 1' (Commonwealth One)

Out of nearly all the plates avaliable, i would choose to purchase the 'QLD' Q Plates. Because they were the sets of plates released in 1921 to 1955. From what I have seen they are the ones that are rising in value and are sought after.

For example:

356spd_3288_1024.jpg

'Q21' sold for $97,000, 'Q575' sold for $25,000, 'Q890' sold for $15,000. This was back in 2007 at the official PPQ auctions.

'Q2' and 'Q3' were passed in for $280,000 and $270,000 respectively back in 2005.

'Q1' owner was rumored to have turned down a $1m+ offer on it. He had it on his Porsche for a bit, but now resides on his Bentley.

I have been watching the QLD number plate market for a while now, and am looking/waiting for the right 'Q' plate to pop up. Lowest number possible with the amount i'm willing to pay.

All the ridiculously stupid prices people have on their 'personalised' plates (NVS42 or shit like that) are just that, ridiculously stupid.

And i can't believe there are still people stupid enough to 'buy' NSW plates.

A forum member on here had "OMG" in Vic slimline... about $500 brand new, he sold for $1,000 I think something that he coulda got way more for.... :)

Some plates are absolutely ridiculously priced though, some that aren't even half decent.

Ive had offers of 2k + for my typer number plates when i owned one! only cost me 495 haha

man RTA is a major d0uchebag of an organisation

I pay $130 annual fee for my personalised plates and now they charge $90 annual only for my exact type and style :P

I knew it was a stupid idea to get them and pay an annual fee in the first place, but I splurged on buying my current car so I thought what's a bit extra?

I'm now considering handing them back and going back to standard white slimlines

apart from NVDIS, VL2NV, YBNVS, YPURV4, QUPNCY etc etc etc which are so bad they should be melted down and poured over the owners face, the ones that i cant stand is when people cant get what they want so they put an "X" or "O" on either side, like XBIMRX etc

+1 ^^^ because by the time I've worked it out, I've just about rear-ended them...

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
