W00t! It's that time again!

SKYLINE CHARITY CRUISE 2009

Last year we received a lot of comments on the timing of SCC - this year we've listened to our members and bought forward our annual Skyline Charity Cruise 2009 to a cooler month!!

That's right - SCC09 is scheduled for Sunday 23rd August 2009.

We have a new starting destination this year- the Yatala Drive In Theatre at Staplyton : Map

Gates open at 9am with a prompt cruise departure time of 10am. This year we will have smaller meets @ Gold Coast and Sunshine coast to pick up members along the way, with everyone cruising to meet up at Yatala for the main 10am cruise.

As per our usual SCC rules the following apply:

1. You must have a car that fits into 2 out of 3 categories

a. Nissan

b. Skyline

c. Rb powered

The only exceptions to this rule are the Stagea M35, R35 (not officcially a skyline but we all know better) and any car that has contacted the organisers (Events Committee) and sought permission for exemption from the '2 out of 3 rule'. Please post or PM one of the club execs.

2. You will abide by all road rules.

The police have been notified of the meet and of the cruise route - we expect their presence. It will only ruin your day if you get handed a ticket by the boys in blue, so drive carefully. Leave your anti-social behaviour at home-it will not be tolerated.

3. The final destination will be revealed on the day.

Maps and stickers will be provided upon entry to the Yatala Drive-In for a $5 donation fee. The destination is a closely guarded secret and we try to keep it that way.

Food will be available-BBQ & Drinks will be on sale with proceeds going to charity.

Some FAQ's

- Yatala Drive-In has toilets but little shade - please bring along hats and sunscreen.

- The destination location has plenty of food, drinks, shade and toilet facilities.

- The trip will be about 90km in length from Yatala to the final meeting place.

- This year's charity is TBA. Further details supplied soon.

- There will be a Show n' Shine with prizes at the final venue.

- We will be running raffle's with prizes provided by the club's sponsors.

- There are plenty of servo's along the freeway leading to the Yatala Drive-In. Please ensure you have at least half a tank of fuel for the cruise and trip home.

- If you have a UHF radio, please bring it. Channel will be verified closer to the day.

- We'll have some photographers positioned along the cruise route, so make sure your ride is clean!

- This will also incorporate the Members Sign-On day too!

All in all it's a great day out, and SAUQLD's biggest event, so spread the word!

    • The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow
    • Good luck on the weekend mate
    • Must have been an absolute nightmare to drive when the power steer was out, the rack ratio/wheel size/caster is all set up for power assistance
    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
