Full Power Fc Tune For R33 Gtst Prices? Status, Recustoms?

Recommended Posts

hey guys just wondering where you guys got your power fcs tuned and are happy with the job and how much they charged , typical mods, turbo, fmic, z32, injectors, exhust, for example how much would somewhere like status or re customs charge?

it depends as the AFM and injectors may need more work to have them tune

and you should clarify what you call a "tune" as it might not be the same among tuners

some may just give you a max power tune and some may give you an on-road tune

and some may do a combination of both

if you just get a max power tune, youll likely have sucky fuel economy

so be sure that fuel economy is setup and tuned

and if its just a dyno tune, its likely when you get the car and trash the pants off it on the street, that it will knock

as the load is slightly different on the dyno, so either take note of this or enquire if an on-road check/tune is needed

my max power GTST tunes have been around $400 ish that was back in 2005/2006

and it was setup of car, max power tune, quick economy trim

more work was required to fix on-road knocking and on-road fuel economy later (these would be seperate costs i assume? - i did them myself)

got mine tuned at chasers motorworks (West melb, dynon Rd) . got 340kw at all 4 wheels really happy with the tune. chargers depends on how long Paul (Tuner) takes. chargers per hour. u can let him know what you want and he will work it out for ya  give them a ring or go down for a chat! friendly bunch of guys. who knows i might be there as well. haha. grey r32gtr, mension ken they shld know me. lol..

thanks guys yeah i was reading about the different type of tunes and how people are getting knocking on the street, thanks ujin ill have a chat to them when im ready for the tune .

It's all subjective in a lot of cases. People get quoted $500, and it turns out to be $1000.

So just go there, discuss with the people, get a price. If your car has issues on the dyno, price will go up, simple as that.

No-one can give you a concrete price due to potential problems (ie a fuel reg might die, fuel supply might be shit, parts might be intermittently faulty).

All of which takes time to diagnose and price - goes up. Hence the increase in costs.

Couldn't agree more Ash. I had issues with my fuel pump and had it replace with a Tomei @ Racepace when my retune was done because the first "cheaper" tune I has was rubbish.

Name: Racepace

Location: 9/6 Holloway Drive, Bayswater

Number: 9762 9421

Trent quoted me 550 I paid 550 although it went fairly smoothly at first he was worried if i had enough spark in my coil packs but he said they ended up being fine although I think he said he's bumping the price up to $570 for first tune now

thanks james yeah i heard the price went up just wasnt sure by how much i would be happy with that price for a good tune and happy to pay abit more if needs more attetnion

well status is $570 now as james was only there recently.....

but with trent, that $570 buys you a VERY good tune. and unlike many other tuners, he will fix up any issues that may arise on the road for free, and he then charges a lot less for subsequent retunes when you have new mods :(

i have my car tuned at status, and am very very happy with it... unopened rb25 makes 300rwkw and has been alive for nearly 2 years now

trent spends a LOT of time tuning every car, you really do get every dollars worth

    • Jack the back of the car up, pull that wheel off, pull that sensor out, and put a bore scope into the hole to inspect the outer casing, see if anything looks damaged before you pull the whole thing apart.
    • Ergh... So I pulled the speed sensor out again and the tip was shiny so I think it's rubbing the bearing. The bearing contains the magnets for the speed sensor so I think when the first sensor broke it damaged the magnet ring on the bearing.  This is just a Google image, but there is a hole going to the bearing. So when the tip broke off the old sensor I'm guessing it fouled the bearing... As the magnet is only protected by a plastic cover it would be easy to damage it. So I guess I'm doing a bearing again.
    • My thinking is that if the O2 sensor is shot then your entire above described experience is pure placebo.
    • Here is the mess that I made. That filler there was successful in filling dents in that area. But in the middle area. I can feel dents. And I've gone ocer it multiple times with filler. And the filler is no longer there because i accidently sanded it away. I've chased my tail on this job but this is something else lol. So I'm gonna attempt filler one more time and if it doesn't work I'll just high fill primer the door and see where the issues are because guidecoat is of no use atm.
    • Ok, so I think I sort of figured out where I went wrong. So I definitely overthinked it, and I over sanded, which is probably a large part of the problem. to fix it, I ended up tapping some spots that were likely to be high, made them low, filled them in, and I tackled small sections at a time, and it feels a lot better.    I think what confused me as well is you have the bare metal, and some spots darker and some are lighter, and when I run my finger across it, it' would feel like it's a low spot, but I think it's just a transition in different texture from metal to body filler.    When your finger's sliding on the body filler, and crosses over to the bare metal, going back and forth, it feels like it's a low spot. So I kept putting filler there and sanding, but I think it was just a transition in texture, nothing to do with the low or high spot. But the panel's feels a lot better, and I'm just going to end up priming it, and then I'll block it after with guide coat.   Ended up wasting just about all of my filler on this damn door lol
