Guys I am looking at getting a tune (1st time) as I will pick up my 96 r33 probably next weekend. I want to make sure that its been tuned properly from the 1st time I drive irelevent from the previous owners tuneup. I would like to know the rwkw so a dyno would be great but I have no idea of what these cost? Now this car has a 3' exhaust & pod filter (which i want back to original) and suposedly a slightly bigger standard high flow turbo running 10psi? (how can i tell if this is true??)

I live in Cranbourne so anywhere in the dandenong/frankston area would be fine i guess.

Can you guys suggest some places & prices?

oh another thing is that I dont beleive its had the timing belt done either and its at 103k km, so what would be the price of doing this as well?

Thanks guys and i hope you can help me out with this as I am a little dumbfounded by all this...

ps: I will post up spec's once someone can confirm them for me...

And of course there's the cream of the crop - Racepace

he apparently used to have a mofified ecu but I beleive evrything has been put back to standard except for the exhaust (not sure what brand but is 3" , pod filter and ?modified turbo?

I does smell rich when running but I am not sure as if this is the case with every large bore exhaust?

with regards to a

1- standard service

2- major service

3- dyno

any idea what the breakdown on cost would be if thats all that is performed....

I wouldn't bother with a tune until you get some sort of aftermarket ECU whether it's piggy back or complete replacement. Tune for a stock PFC is ~$570 from trent @ status who does good work

a standard service i would pay around $150 for

this would include oil, oil filter, check of basic mechanics, water and coolant top up, check brakes etc

plugs if need be, check diff fluid etc

a major service i would pay around $500-$700 for

this would include standard service + new plugs + fuel filter + air filter + gearbox oil and whatever else may be needed

timing belt at 100,000 allow $400 for that alone

for dyno check around $60

which is just a power check, theres nothing to tune here

Like paul has mentioned above a timing belt replacement alone is $400 plus. Along with a major service and its $1,000 easy depending on what needs to be done.

Assuming the car is supplied with a legitimate RWC then brakes, exhaust, suspension, bushes and oil leaks etc should of already of been taken care of at the sellers end.

Dont take this the wrong way but why on earth are you asking these questions after committing to buying the car? You say it "supposedly" has a high flow? And "apparently" had a modified ecu?

Someone else has also recently bought an R34 and then decided to come on here asking questions that should be answered before purchase.

You should of piped up in here before deciding on what car you buy and asked for the name of decent workshops so you knew where to take a potential new car to get a pre-purchase inspection, dyno , leakdown test etc. May cost a couple hundred but can save you many thousands.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
