Blue us RB30 orange is rb25. full comparison and nothing else has changed except the bottom end.

turbo is 3076 56t with 0.63 rear... falls over pretty hard and adding more boost doesnt increase it.. so rear is a restriction thats for sure. Need a .82 rear for it.

didnt have any issues with the car apart from oil pissing out the catch can due to the sump being 2L overfull... after spewing oil out several times and filling the can its finally reached a happy level where it wont do it any more haha. still a fair bit above the H mark too. i now have a massive mess in the engine bay which i need to clean confused.gif

in terms of power and performance... wow.. its like night and day. can leave it in 3rd in the esses, even if following someone and you have to adjust your line in the entry to a slower one you can back off.. get back on the throttle and it just spools straight away haha. exiting the esses you can shift straight to 4th and it pulls HARD up the straight and just bakes 1 and 2 in 4th. loves it!

have a slight oil pressure related issue... not sure whats going on. have a read here if you care http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/405788-oil-pressure-dropping-when-no-load-on-engine/page__fromsearch__1

all in all... decent shake down. plenty of grip with the rear DW knuckles in now.. not a fan of the front DW knuckles. i wouldnt recommend them to anyone thats for sure. as a drop spindle they are wicked but for big lock with no bind... nope they dont tick that box. I will be cutting and shutting (in a not so dodgy way) and repositioning the tie rod mount on the knuckle so its more in line with my modified knuckles that i do. It should be easy enough to do due to the construction of the DW knuckle as its just made out of welded plate steel. I wont do it before WTAC as theres to much to do and EC isnt a big angle entry track anyway so worry bout it when i get back.

good results

would have expected more kw power with the extra capacity and higher comp ratio

seeing that camshafts alter power band, no chance that changing shafts to suit the 30 while keeping the 0.62 rear would increase power with more psi ?

just a thought

  • 2 weeks later...

WTAC run and done.. just got back 3am this morning so im running low on energy.

full write up coming soon.

25 dollar bottom end loved life. smashed limiter and shredded tyres. Missed out on top 16 battles but won the bottom 16 battles beating the NZ guy who won it last year so reasonable effort!

car's a bit smashed up.. quick vid here

    • Which solenoid? Why was it changed? Again, why was this done? ...well, these wear..but ultimately, why was it changed? Did you reset the idle voltage level after fitment? I'm just a tad confused ~ the flash code doesn't allude to these items being faulty, so in my mind the only reason to change these things, would be some drive-ability issue....and if that's the case, what was the problem? Those questions aside, check if the dropping resistor is OK ...should be 11~14 ohms (TCU doesn't throw a flash code for this) ~ also, these TCU designs have full time power (to keep fault code RAM alive), and I think that'll throw a logic code (as opposed to the 10 hardware codes), if that power is missing (or the ram has gone bad in the TCU, which you can check..but that's another story here perhaps).
    • Question for people who "know stuff" I am looking at doing the new intake like the one in the picture (the pictured is designed for the OEM TB and intake plenum), this design has the filter behind the front bar, but, the filter sits where the OEM duct heads into the front bar, and the standard aperture when the OEM ducting is removed allows the filter to pulled back out of the front bar into the engine bay for servicing, a simple blanking plate is used to seal the aperture behind the filter This will require a 45° silicone hose from the TB, like the alloy pipe that is currently there, to another 45° silicone hose to get a straight run to the aperture in the front bar Question: how will it effect the tune if I move the MAF about 100-150mm forward, the red is around where my MAF is currently, and the green would be where it would end up Like this This is the hole the filter goes through  Ends up like this LOL..Cheers
    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
    • Pull codes via the self-diagnosis procedure. As far as I can tell this is just a sign of transmission issues but not a code unto itself.
    • Hi All, putting the engine back together and everything is perfect except have this plug left over.. any ideas what it is for and where it goes? Is on cold side under the intake plenum *note not a stock plug, as everything has been modified Cheers
