I can't wait to see the footage as the camera fell away.... I did a massive evade manouvre as I didn't want to run over it!! In hindsight I think the damage was done when it hit the ground but in my mind it went like this "damn camera fell off, must not drive over and break it " ... lol

Too bad it wasn't a wireless camera or I might have had footage of your underbelly... er.. we'll not meaning to be rude or anything.

I went back on the putty and kind of slowed down around the area it might have fallen off but no joy. I'm glad it was just a cheap reversing camera CCD and $5 mount. No bit loss for some great footage.

I've got about 30 gigs of video from the day ;) Started editing it yesterday afternoon but there is so much there to get through. Should have something to show by the end of the week.

stay tuned...

How much did the Cam cost Eric?

Would it be OK with you to run the charity cruise for "Pezhead" and then we can donate some...

PEZ Candy Dispensers for your collection??????

Any chance for another cruise...

Gold coin donation???

hey all.... second year in a row my car has been out of operation for the putty cruise.... maybe next year ;)

great day.. lots of fun.. great to hear the 3 gens of RB's in full song... funny how they all sound soo different.. great to see that everyone can have fun and drive with spirit but not have to do anything stupid or ridiculous.. thats the way it should be.

btw... who was the poor sap with the really low white r32 gtr that wet itself at the singleton end?? hope everythings ok with it..

i forgot to charge my camera up so no shots from me unfortunately..

cheers

Linton

It was a great day. The drive was way to long though, my bad killed halfway so i just turned back. The black r32 gtr with the orange wheels was just sex on wheels!!!

by the way, halfway back down putty road i noticed a a black gtr was pulled over and changing his tyre(i think) what happened?

Erm yeah that was me removing the plastic wheel arch shroud that decided to come loose. Was actually the reason why I turned around earlier. The cammo skyline had to do the same thing at the halfway house. I had some strange counrty folk stop and watch me, at first I was scared - thought they might eat me and my friend but turns out they were cool and were just offering some help.

Was an ebay special less than $25 so no big problem.

Actually I'm thinking we may need a cruise/sausage sizzle/picnic at a park location. Nice that we all drive somewhere but would be nice to have a bit of social time somewhere we can lounge around. May try to organize it but pretty busy time between now and end of the year.

That sounds awesome :)

Always fun to meet new people

Wow looks really fun... I am very dissappointed i sold my Line now im missing the fun stuff... btw terry can you send me an sms i lost all my contacts in my phone and I know you still have my number.... thanks

I'm pretty pleased that the Event wasn't to-day!

The Putty Road is currently closed due to a fatality > RIP

It's happened at the southern end. Wet... wet... wet... Oil residue would be sitting on top of the water too with this downpour.

I only saw good responsible driving on Saturday BTW = good stuff.

Hi,

I posted this up earlier this morning (at the bottom of the page tho') ^^^

Yeah Pezhead, I was thinking of helping another SAU member run a cruise next year that would interest you...

"The 15th Anniversary of the R33 GT-R" > a park location just you had hoped for via Mac Pass.

Yes Rafael, I'll sms you my number in a sec.

And thanks for the vid Aggroman > I must say you took the straightest line through those curves!

Cheers guys,

whos car had sticker on front bar "barbie is a s%$t"hehehe

Yup that would be me :)

hehe at underbelly... would of been an interesting angle passing under my car!!

I thought it would be pretty much cactus, it fell off mid corner so it probably went off the side of the road :D

MBS206 ^^...Did you mean AN-80-WL?..If so that would be me.

You were behind me in the jazz..i couldnt believe how that kept pretty close to us all. :ninja:

Ahh yes yes, sorry...

As to keeping up... Until the halfway house I only downshifted out of 5th gear about 5 times... LOL Through those bends that were nice and tight, she just grips grips grips! Good little chucker of a car, and pretty darn predictable!

But thought i'd let you know, on those hard left hand turns, you were dropping what looked like water out the back drivers side (Behind the wheel) could be water in your inner guard from the boot area breathing out even.

man i swear their wuz dis blu r34 gtr it has big rims and it was dumped on its ass n d guy drivin it was on steriodz and his gf was hot ....i swear bro dat wuz 1 of da best skylinez i have ever seen in my life...whos wuz it here is a pic of it

That blue beauty looks like the one formerly owned by Garry from Top Secret imports.

Of course the livery's been removed but the wheels look the same - and it's lower.

And back on thread, I was flabbergasted to not just see the folks coming up from the Gong, and Nowra too - but the couple from Wagga Wagga??? WOW! Fantastic!

This is pretty much what the Show N Shine will be  Don't bother organising anything else, just come to that!

    • I agree with everything else, except (and I'm rethinking this as it wasn't setup how my brain first though) if the sensor is at the end of a hose which is how it has been recommended to isolate it from vibrations, then if that line had a small hole in, I could foresee potentially (not a fluid dynamic specialist) the ability for it to see a lower pressure at the sensor. But thinking through, said sensor was in the actual block, HOWEVER it was also the sensor itself that broke, so oil pressure may not have been fully reaching the sensor still. So I'm still in my same theory.   However, I 100% would be saying COOL THE OIL DOWN if it's at 125c. That would be an epic concern of mine.   Im now thinking as you did Brad that the knock detection is likely due to the bearings giving a bit more noise as pressure dropped away. Kinkstah, drop your oil, and get a sample of it (as you're draining it) and send it off for analysis.
    • I myself AM TOTALLY UNPREPARED TO BELIEVE that the load is higher on the track than on the dyno. If it is not happening on the dyno, I cannot see it happening on the track. The difference you are seeing is because it is hot on the track, and I am pretty sure your tuner is not belting the crap out of it on teh dyno when it starts to get hot. The only way that being hot on the track can lead to real ping, that I can think of, is if you are getting more oil (from mist in the inlet tract, or going up past the oil control rings) reducing the effective octane rating of the fuel and causing ping that way. Yeah, nah. Look at this graph which I will helpfully show you zoomed back in. As an engineer, I look at the difference in viscocity at (in your case, 125°C) and say "they're all the same number". Even though those lines are not completely collapsed down onto each other, the oil grades you are talking about (40, 50 and 60) are teh top three lines (150, 220 and 320) and as far as I am concerned, there is not enough difference between them at that temperature to be meaningful. The viscosity of 60 at 125°C is teh same as 40 at 100°C. You should not operate it under high load at high temperature. That is purely because the only way they can achieve their emissions numbers is with thin-arse oil in it, so they have to tell you to put thin oil in it for the street. They know that no-one can drive the car & engine hard enough on the street to reach the operating regime that demands the actual correct oil that the engine needs on the track. And so they tell you to put that oil in for the track. Find a way to get more air into it, or, more likely, out of it. Or add a water spray for when it's hot. Or something.   As to the leak --- a small leak that cannot cause near catastrophic volume loss in a few seconds cannot cause a low pressure condition in the engine. If the leak is large enough to drop oil pressure, then you will only get one or two shots at it before the sump is drained.
    • So..... it's going to be a heater hose or other coolant hose at the rear of the head/plenum. Or it's going to be one of the welch plugs on the back of the motor, which is a motor out thing to fix.
    • The oil pressure sensor for logging, does it happen to be the one that was slowly breaking out of the oil block? If it is,I would be ignoring your logs. You had a leak at the sensor which would mean it can't read accurately. It's a small hole at the sensor, and you had a small hole just before it, meaning you could have lost significant pressure reading.   As for brakes, if it's just fluid getting old, you won't necessarily end up with air sitting in the line. Bleed a shit tonne of fluid through so you effectively replace it and go again. Oh and, pay close attention to the pressure gauge while on track!
    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
