I am planning to rent one of these cars in around 3 weeks time.

Both are convertible 2008 models with paddle shift gearboxes.

Deep down I think the Ferrari appeals to me more although the excitement of a LP640 is pretty hard to beat.

I booked the LP640 however I can change it, im still in two minds.

Any comments appreciated.

If i HAD to choose it would be the LP640 but I can see why it's a hard choice. Ideally driving both would be the most satisfying!

Out of interest, how much to rent one of these? And what sort of restrictions are on them etc.

Lamborghini for sure. There was a time when a Ferrari meant more of a status symbol than a Lambo but these days both manufacturers have amazing road presence in their vehicles so I say go for the one that's most aesthetically pleasing to you and the better performer.

damn, dont suppose u wanna share how much one of those is worth to rent?

I just had a bit of a gander at specs of the 2 ..is it just me or is supercars getting fatter? ie heavier? that ferrari is as heavy as a R33 gtst :).

Ferrari F430 = 1452.7 kg 490hp

Lambogini LP640 = 1665 kg 639hp

This definitely depends on whether you're a Ferrari person or a Lambo person. I've also loved Lambo's much more than Ferraris, so for me the choice is easily the LP640.

Which make do you prefer?

jst wanna ask a question cos i was thinkin of doing this a while ago; a ferrari 360 modena aint much to rent but the bond is 30,000dollars and the insurance excess is 10,000dollars

now that bond is for something, must read the fine print; e.g. the engine blows or clutch goes while you drive it, will they take that off ur bond????

i lost interest a while ago, wont ever rent a car - let alone an 800+k lambo; bond would be 50k maybe? excess maybe 15k?

Yeah we saw that insurance bond thing aswell, makes it very difficult to do in Aus. Best place to do it is Vegas, fairly cheap to rent for a few hours or a day, and the insurance is realistic, just a credit card with a few grand accessible. My mate done it there, drove a 360 and a gallardo i think it was.

to me the LP640 has a much more aggressive feel, look at that second pic, its like a fighter jet just waiting for you to jab the throttle and take off, i love ferrari's to, but the lambo just takes the cake

Ferrari if you want to be seen driving the car, Lambo if you want to drive the car

Which is ironic considering Ferraris are more of a driver's car than the "shouty" Lamborghini.

I'd get the Lambo. Relatively speaking Fazzas are a dime a dozen on the roads. Since you're not going to be driving either car at its limits (unless you're planning on tracking them) I'd get the shoutier car.

    • Yes I can see how that would put you off HFM, especially with the price of good quality brake fluid. From what I understand it as you say the BM50 is the standard BMC for a R32 GTR, I must admit I would like to go far a Genuine Nissan BM57, but lack of cash prevents that at present. With the price being so close between the genuine BM50 and BM57 a BM57 New it seems a better choice as you gain that 1/16 bore size with the BM57, I would be interested in how much difference you feel with the BM57 fitted. I am going to take SteveL's advice in the short term and see how much actually comes out of that proportioning valve vent and save up for the Genuine Nissan part. Thanks for clarifying the HFM failure
    • Thanks mate. I just got the post inspection 1/2 done from state roads when the starter motor packed up, either that or the car alarm system is having trouble.  OEM part number 23300-AA112.
    • Hi, I though I was coming to an end in finding a replacement starter motor for a rb25de neo. I came across a starter motor from Taarks and a message below stating: Direct fit. 11 Tooth count. All below part numbers have been superseded to 11 teeth. Can some body shed some light on going from 8 teeth to 11 teeth apart from 36-month / 25,000 km warranty for passenger vehicles to 12 Month Warranty. Compatible with the following Nissan part numbers: 23300-20P00 23300-20P01 23300-20P05 23300-20P10 23300-20P11 23300-AA111 23300-AA112 23300-AA300 23300-08U10 23300-08U11 23300-08U15
    • Low battery? Maybe check capacity? I know first-hand, on BMWs if your battery drops below 80% capacity, it starts causing strange issues.
    • 8.5 +37 = should fit rear, but I think it'll hit on front. What you want is low 30s/high 20's front, mid 30's rear. That 17" screenshot you posted looks good, I'd run it on my R32 (but that's long dead now). For tyre sizes, my rule of thumb is: 8': 235, 9": 255. But that's just my opinion. Nismo sizes: 18x8.5+35/18x9.5+38 is a good starting point.
