hey gents

well finally got around to putting some incar from the Townsville Mt Stuart hillclimb together.

My Wife Sarah Navigated and did an awsome job for her first time , with the help of some Ben Wooster tuition, thanks Ben!

Mind you she did get sick at the top most of the first day, then came good.

Its a really enjoyable event, highly recommend the drive.

(mods please move if in the wrong section)

cheers Russ

Good stuff, impressive time. I saw you drive past me on university road the morning of the hill climb on my way to work. I so wanted to come see you race but couldn't get the day off. Never seen a R35 in real life and saw you coming and was like "WTF is that?" haha.

You going to be back next year?

Good driving there Russ, looks a little narrow for a big r35 boat :)

how many runs up the hill and how long was it?

Sarah did very well, nice and clear, and most importantly ready to admit when she was off notes temporarily. Not sure that she will be rushing back into that seat if she gets sick though....

yeah the r35 is a big car for that road, but awsome fun.

the tyres were completely rooted by the end, all four had delaminated on the inner part of the tread about three inches wide down through the steel belt, not pretty!

I would love to go back there but may not make it next year , Being i am in Darwin for awhile now.

Probably wont go back in the r35, i have an old friend rejoining the stable :)

Old friend ya say....Hmmmm. (strokes beard)...Is it black? :P

YOU BET IT IS !

That is awesome news. It deserves to be back with it's traditional owners.

Not sure if you saw these yet but here's a few from my weekend that unfortunatly ended a bit earlier than expected. Although it made for an enjoyable afternoon knocking the tops off a few "cokes" with Mark, Benny and the Boys.

I hope you can make it back next year though. Was good havin ya here. You to Ben. Need to get ya 32 up here.

Can't wait to race up there again.

We did 10 runs all up. Reccy on saturday morning then 3 runs in the arvo. Then 7 runs on sunday. The course is about 7.5km long then transport back down the the service park.

Next year they are trying to sercure the use of the parkland section of the v8 supercar track to run a prolog on on the friday evening aswell which will be a bit exciting for us and better for the spectators.

I'd really like to bring it next year, and I think I will Was a very fun weekend, great fellas

That'd be excellent Ben. I have plenty of room at my new place for as many cars as ya wanna bring.

is there much damage to the car??

All fixed now except still needs a new front bar but i'm making do with the zip tie look at the moment. It needed an new custom radiator from PWR, new intercooler, windscreen headlight, radiator support assembelly and a new dry sump pump drive shaft and belt.

    • My car is also flex tuned. It's worth mentioning it (the LS1 ECU) has a 1D table for E85 addition and just uses the ethanol stoich part as the second point of reference. It also as a 3D timing map for Ethanol adjustment. You would think this isn't enough but it works pretty damn well. That said, I wouldn't want it in turbo application. It's like lifting non-natty, or taking meth. It gets you unrealistic results that break down more things going forward. If people used it to make the same amount of power they do on 98 then it'd be one thing. But people use it, crank it up to eleventy million PSI, it doesn't knock - but it pushes the point of failure to another, more expensive thing to break. Every time I see someone make 280kw on 98 and 350kw on E85 on the same equipment I just cry a bit and really wish they would just stay on 98 in that exact scenario. It's bad for you.
    • This is kind of what I was thinking but the temp sender wire and the two pressure switch wires run through the starter subharnes and I eliminated the two pressure switch wires completely.  @GTSBoy I have a can gauge with unusually bright warnings should the oil pressure fall so the factory light isn't needed. I need to dig out my wiring diagram and see if I can sort this out.
    • It's a valid point. And it is doable with the Nistune. But I'm not inclined to flex it the way Nistune does - certainly not on a Neo ECU. They're already pernickety enough to tune just one one fuel. And of course, I'm not that interested in putting in a Link or similar, on a daily. With the stock ECU, stock looking turbo, etc etc, I still stand a chance of surviving a run-in with the plod. Last time it went over the pits (which was for the transplant, for because of a run-in with the plod), the Nistuned ECU did not even raise an eyebrow. They want to see a stock ECU running the engine, and they are happy to see it do so without the check engine light** on. Never mind that the Nistune is necessary to make the stock ECU work in a different chassis without ABS, TCS, etc. **And they actually provoke the CEL to come on by disconnecting the AFM, to prove that the globe hasn't been pulled!
    • This is why you flex fuel it...
    • That is what I took from it too. Needed to go AWD S14 imo.
