Hi Guys,

I am about to release the latest addition to our Yellow Jackets Coil Packs product range. These new type are to suit the R34 GT(T) and Series 2 Stageas with the RB25DE(T) NEO engines.

At this point we have carried out tests on equipment and the current is 1A higher and voltage is 4KV higher than the Splitfire ones.

We also currently have another 7 sets on other test vehicles (R34 GT/GTT & Series 2 Stagea) in different parts of the world.

I am looking for another R34 GTT or a Series 2 Stagea to test one more set on through a member here on SAU. We would prefer the vehicle to not be a stock standard example and to also visit the track regularly.

We would like some dyno comparisons done against some Stock coils or some Splitfires or some of the other aftermarket coils around today.

We would also like some feedback for the coils say in 4 weeks, 2 months, 6 months, 12 months etc.....

The price of the test set is $100 + post and after the testing is done, you get to keep them. (These coils will retail for around $400/set).

Its a cheap way to upgrade your coils and give us some real life results for our product.

I had this same offer previously on SAU with the R33 GTST series 1 coils and the R33 GTST Series 2 coils and had some excellent results which we are also anticipating for these coils to suit the RB25DET NEO.

Please PM me if you are interested.

Cheers,

Paul.

ive had a fair few of these red and yellow coils die over the extreme heat we had 2 weeks ago, in fact 4 sets in 2 weeks. Whats your return rate?

Ive had 0 return rate due to hot weather? What yellow coils do you have? They're not Yellow Jackets from me.

who else is doing yellow r33 coilpacks? i know where some of the red ones came from (as i provided them) but the yellow ones were a customers he bought off a mate. The supplier of the red ones also claimed zero comeback but now i have a cupboard full... @ least 3 of them are SAU members.

So are you saying that you have had only one set of Yellow coils fail due to the heat? If so, your previous post was a bit misleading as you stated that "ive had a fair few of these red and yellow coils die over the extreme heat we had 2 weeks ago" ....

Was it the series 1 or series 2 type that failed? If these coils were originally purchased from me then the customer should contact me so I can honour the warranty terms.

Ive sold hundreds of sets of the Yellow Jackets to a lot of places around the world and have never had any issues with them failing due to excessive heat?

Ive sent many sets to the top end of Australia, Florida-USA, Dubai and also to Zambia and have not had one complaint about extreme heat issues from any one.

On a side note, the red ones are not from the same place the Yellow ones are from and the red ones are known for their inferior design and quality.

Ive heard stories of the red ones actually melting!!

I hope you've stopped selling the red ones...... :(

listening.

my red packs ^^ went to heaven, only 3 weeks old :( missed a day of track action as well.

not happy. when you put a stock item back in and its better than the after market one, part of you dies....

blatent lie is all i need to say.

I'm running the yellow jackets, making enough torque to fry the tyres coming on boost in 3rd at 120 odd KM/h.

RB25/30, huge turbo, HEAPS of heat (Nothing has heat shielding really except a couple of oil lines). The only time the car runs is for abuse... They haven't missed a beat yet.

Good to hear. Im glad youre giving them hell too :(

  • 2 weeks later...

Still needing a tester for the R34 GT(T)/ S2 Stagea coils. Doesnt necessarily have to be a track going car either as we have another one lined up specifically for that.

Anyone?

I'm keen to test some yellow jackets on my GT-T. Are you still looking for testers? PM me if you are interested

I have recent dyno results on factory coils which i could compare with your product

Well Paul, I'm a bit dirty on Yellow Jackets at the moment because I just had a set fitted to my modified, series 2 Stagea RSFour S and then went to Wakefield to do a supersprint last Sunday week. The car went like a dream on the way down but I didn't even complete one lap before one of the new coilpacks died and the car was on 5 cylinders.

I limped home, having wasted $195 entry fee and the petrol to get there. The next day I went back to the workshop (O2 Autosport at South Nowra) who confirmed the coilpack problem and ordered a replacement under warranty. As of last Friday the replacement still hadn't arrived.

So yes, I would test your new series of coil pack but how about compensating me for the loss I incurred because of your faulty one?

At least getting a replacement to O2 Autosport would be nice...

Hope I hear something back from you,

Paul Merry

That's bad news! I bought a set of yellow jackets for the RB30 going in to my Stagea. My 14 year old stockers were still going fine at 245kw and 16psi but I thought it prudent to get a new set for my new engine ( and I gave my old set to someone having problems) so I hope the new Yellowjackets work ok. I guess you have to expect the odd failure but I guess i'll find out once my car is back on the road (and the track)!!

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
