PM me your VIN and I will see what yours is compatible with (VQ25det is the same as VQ23de only :/ ).

I am sure I could make one up for you if I had a gasket.

Have you put a plenum spacer to increase the volume of your plenum (should possibly be the same as VQ35de)?

Nah haven't tried a plenum spacer, where can I find those?

I am pretty sure that your plenum is the same as a V35/G35, but I'll check tonight just to make sure.

If it is the same, you can get one from the US (eBay is easy) OR my mate has an aluminium one he made for his V35. I will talk to him tonight and see if wants to let it go.

Isn't it better to have one that doesn't trransfer too much heat to your intake plenum?

Yes... with a runner spacer it definitely is.

With a V35 plenum spacer it makes no difference as the spacer is installed between the top and bottom sections of the standard cast alloy plenum.

lol... thanks mate... although the torque increase is there I have yet to dyno it.

Would be tricky to get an accurate comparison though as the engine needs to be cold to install the spacer kit.

Ryan, as per the first post... the original was 17mm as that was the size aluminium we had access to. It was modelled of the 20mm aluminium TEPS unit. When I switched to Bakelite, I wanted to go with a taller spacer to see if there was a noticeable performance increase (unknown) and also so it could soak up a bit more heat from the engine due to the larger area.

So does that mean if a 30mm spacer would fit under the bonnet you'd do it?

I'm thinking if the engine cover fits back over the engine with the spacer installed, I should be able to fit a spacer and a strut brace no problems. Hopefully we'll find out tonight

i dont care what cam tells you.

the cover DOES NOT fit back on with the spacer.. it touches the bonnet

Aaron, go talk to Nick "nickcorr" about that.

His has been installed a lot longer than yours.

I'd certainly try it out.

Could do it too - the PM35 bonnet has a lot more clearance than the NM35 bonnet.

im actualy going to make you do it next time you come around.. i dont beleive you until i see it.

Are you physically unable to close the bonnet or is it that you think/know/hear its touching once it does eventually close?

well last time me and scott tried my fron bar was off.

i could clearly see it touching. and it hack up the foam on the bonnet.

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
