Spotted: 5 of 15 Police vehicles in Jerra 2night 11.pm. Tracking some undesirable. Spoke to the Constable near my roundabout to get the goss. Thought I was a gonner on the first circle 2 Pursuit cars, got to the big circle saw 1 4WD hiding, started to worry a bit then got to my circle and saw 1 paddy wagon and a red pursuit car.

Stopped for a chat as it was getting weird with no RBT and not pulled over. Nice guys when there not huntin you down. Spoke to him about the other exit which they didn't seem to be aware of so he was straight on the police radio.

Also hear Illegal street racing in Hume and Braddon this evening getting broken up. Hope none of you guys were out.

canberra in general is pretty good, esp compared to places like sydney, i have a very good alarm on my car, and for those that have seen where i keep it you'd agree its very hard to steal, but it still happens and if they are good enough they'll get it. think about it, you can have the best alarm possible have it in a very hard to steal position and they can just break a window, storm into your house at night, point a gun to your head and tell you to hand over the keys. security doesnt mean sh*t in alot of cases, its just a deterrant. which reminds me, i'd better go put those bars on the windows.

Yeah, thats what i thought to, but obviously i was wrong there.. still not sure what they were doing 100% but i cant really worry that much anymore, if they come next time im sure they wont be leaving again! Not until they explain themselves...

anyone able to tell me what a good alarm is, say one with some mad sensors, and maybe a pager telling you whats going on when your car gets broke into?? I've seen those ones that beep as you get closer, what about them??

Richard and i have the same one and im pretty happy with it and i think richard is to. pm me if you want to know what brand and model it is as i dont want to post it up here. its got all the bells and whistles and does everything you need, although i would like a pager as it doesnt have one, but alot of the time they can be a hassle.

Hey True - quite happy with mine.

I have the same immobiliser and it satisfies me and the Insurance company.

The trackers, in my opinion, are over accessorising for what we have. Flash as boast factor. While your at it you can get the remote engine starter installed too.

Obviously GPS and they call you for various reasons. You can stop your car from running by your mobile. If you lend it to someone it can call you if they go over your predermined speed limit (then u can shut em down).

EasyTracker + QuickTracker. I am told Easytracker works in the ACT but Quicktracker is not guaranteed too. Cost for these units used to be between $1-2K with an Immobiliser.

Me personally I'd rather spend my money elsewhere on my line. But if I had a Ferrari etc....- Hell Yeah!

oh yeah i spotted a very nice white R33 on new years eve going city bound on drakeford as i was going into gordon, i think it had black rims and looked very much like sean's, but was'nt i gave a wave and got one back, but later on new years nears eve near Erindale, at about 9pm i had what i thought to have been the same car, right on my ass like a dick after he came flying through a roundabout, im talking a few feet off my bumper, then as i turned left to go to the Vikings he went half way into the oncoming lane and blasted past me.

    • I hope it's actually possible. This is a write off in insurance world.
    • Yup. 2-way with shallow ramp angles. Still works.
    • That was the first session so not a lot to take from the day. It was low 20s ambient and the coolant had got to 110 (and obviously had some pressure!) so that still needs to be addressed. I haven't downloaded the data yet but will. I had refilled the auto trans with Redline DT6 because it claimed the best viscosity I could find at 100o. It wasn't really long enough to get a good feel for that; while the trans got to 100o in the session it still wasn't shifting crisply as I hoped. I think I'll try a few more sessions before judging. No steering motor overheat but I'd hope not in only 1 session! But finally the suspension; it was night and day over the standard stuff and the car was a couple of seconds quicker on the same crappy tyres, which is a huge difference. I'll stick with that and get some sway bars and a mechanical diff sorted too and see how that all goes together
    • I guess it’s partially a compromise of how my car is used, wanting to be able to switch from drift to grip with track side on-car adjustment. Also partially with the way the knuckles are set there is more static camber but less dynamic camber gain.
    • OK, so update from the track day on Friday It was a classic "an unfortunate series of events'. There were a few cars around and when i checked my mirror coming out of the fish hook I notice some smoke from the rear of mine. Looked again and it was getting much worse, I figured I'd blown a turbo or something to got off it and pulled off the racing line. However.... since it is a left hairpin into a right kink, I was on the inside of the next corner. There was a car passing me on the left and a big drop off over the ripple strip on the right......and someone had knocked the witch's hat that was on the apex about 1m onto the track. So, between those 3, I decided to mow down the cone and not damage my car/the other car. Right choice, but surprising result.  The car decided the cone was a small pedestrian so it blew the rear bonnet hinges up to protect their head in the upcoming person to car impact....I didn't see that coming and like an airbag deployment it happened super fast. Straight into the pits from there, everything was driving fine but it became clear it was a coolant leak not smoke, it was billowing up onto the windscreen. Onto the trailer and home. I'll do a separate thread about the repair (once I work out what it is ), but the immediate problem was the bonnet wouldn't open because the front was pinched onto the front bar and would not release. Ultimately we unbolted the hinge from the bonnet, pulled it back a little and it released from the front OK. "There's your problem", the top radiator hose had popped off at the radiator.
