Have you confirmed that the nail has actually penetrated through all the rubber ? I've seen what i thought was a nail in my tyre before - turned out to just be the head mashed into the rubber with no puncture.

I have had a semi slick repaired after a puncture before, and done 3 track days on it after the repair with no dramas. The repair needs to be done properly, but i dont see how it would change the performance of the tyre all that much ? Then again, both of the above posters have been into motorsport a lot longer than I have, so they probably know what they are talking about :)

hahah well in this case you've actually tried it and lived so you are one up on me! I'm not giving it a go, tyres just take too much punishment, I've seen (and had) too many let go for no reason to trust that that does have something wrong

I have had an RE55 repaired then tested at over 200kmh at PI. In my case the tyre was almost new and I couldn't bear to throw it away....had it been older I probably would've thrown it due to the reasons Dunc mentions above.

I don't have an issue with it but be aware that there is a possibility (however slight) that the tyre will let go.

yer it has def punctured it. pumped it up and splashed water over it = bubbles.

there is about 70% tread left on them so would love to repair it if i know its safe and tried by a number of guys on here.

i had a front left let go on me not that long ago on Lakeside braking from 200km/h so i know that "oh f**k me" feeling and really wanna make sure its safe.

other problem is that i cant just replace one tire with full tread on a gtr can i ??? in regards to slight difference in rolling diameter or am i worrying to much..

cheers guys

you're worrying too much. If they are at 70% tread, your talking a few mm difference in rolling diameter. ATTESSA is picky.. but not that picky

i priced one of my re55s once, got it fix, my next trake day i did my fastest time, not saying the tires was better then b4 but it was fine at the track, just tell bob jane of whoever that u race on these tires so they do a great job!

best of luck

how many laps in total have you done on it after the repair. was it only sprints or 6+ lap sessions on them

cheers

it really depends on where it's punctured and how badly. anywhere near or on the sidewall = throwaway. if it's on the tread face and is not too large consider repairing it. take it somewhere and explain that you will be doing over 200kph and will be doing heavy braking etc. get an internal vulcanised repair done and then put that tyre on the least "used" spot (most likely left or right rear depending on the track).

it certainly is a risk. have you ever watched the tyre cam in v8 supercars etc and seen the kind of loads that tyres are under on a track? then imagine that tyre with a hole and a repair on it. but I'e done it once before and I know many other tight arses who have without issue but just be aware of what you're in for...

    • Hi. This is just my curiosity because iam sure the tuner figure something out...but either way i want to ask. The "problem" is that the Nistune ECU (Stagea FW and RB25DET NEO from Stagea) sees many times the speed than the speedo does(he says the speedo show 120 km/h - correct speed and the ECU shows like 510km/h ) I told him that this car/tranny getting speed from rear diff. If iam not mistaken the RB25DET NEO "need" to see tranny speed sensor? (my tranny has the plug for it). So couple of "question" If he connects/wire the speed sensor to the tranny...are the signals gonna intervene and if...what if he disconnects the rear diff one and the speedo stops working? Or the "new" sensor from the tranny "take over" and will not going need the one from diff? As i said i know he figure/get that done...iam just curious to know what are the solutions 🙂
    • Your IACV is set to idle too low. You need to adjust it via the screw Duncan mentioned. From memory it should be 650rpm with the valve electrics unplugged. What is it trying to idle at with the IACV plugged in?
    • Ahhh, I need the whole head unit. I definitely needed to roll back through and review your setup, ha ha! Neat setup they have going on. I just need a full double din head unit. But I want good and responsive. I might have to review what the likes of pioneer have out these days.
    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is may e 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Dose anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
