mate i personally wouldnt... i have heard on here that the car will be massively underpowered... gotta change alot of things aswell

if you want specifics.. read this whole thread mate:

cheers

"u cud swap with na pistons to bring the compression back up, whack a na chipped ecu or a gts link ecu in her, and replace manifold with extractors. or instead of pistons - maybe a really really thin head gasket, deck the block or the head a tiny bit.

injectors should be fine with a chipped/aftermarket ecu and obviously you would need a retune

car will drive like a total slug without the re-tuning otherwise.

its alot of work - an RB25DE would be a cheaper option to whack in her, or RB30DE but since u said ur p plate.. im not sure i dont think u cud do that man

if you went down that road of getting an RB25DE in her.. you would also have the added bonus of the bigger turbo brakes that people long for "

^^^ pretty much a quote from that above thread...

So its definately possible. But the results are "epic fail".

If you need a Skyline. Get yourself a Non turbo 33 or 34, Get some coilovers, sway bars and a quality catback exhaust. Then save like mad to buy yourself a GTR for your 21st Birthday.

My 2c.

Luke

As said above.

BIBLICAL fail.

Your spending more money than the price of an NA buying a turbo. Spending more money to to remove the turbo. Results are worse performance than an NA at almost twice the cost.

Buy an NA and sell later/turbo later/buy a 34 NA

I was just reading in HPI magazine somewhere, that even if you remove the turbo the car is still essentially registered as a turbo car because of its make...so technically still illegal...

Sounds weird i know...but just check b4 you dive into it....personally id get the 34 :)

haah u can buy my 34 if u want :D i gotta part ways with it :/

but yeah man... turbo'd r33's are going for cheap these days.. cause the n/a versions are more expensive as the P Platers are getting into them... so if possible keep teh turbo til ur off ur p's or something and save up and get a nice N/A 34 or whatever u like..

if not then depending wat mods u have.... u might i have my doubts... just be able to get a r34 n/a if ur lucky with the money u sold ur gtst for bro.. something to think about i spose

" don't bother with an N/A Skyline, it's like buying a 4 cyl Commodore "

only alot sexier... plus some N/A skylines beat stock GTST's?? My friends R33 N/A beats GTST's on the rare occasion.. they're usually stuffed or completley stock.. still an achievement... runs early 15's to mid 15's respect for the non turbo's lol :D

commodores would run 16-17's wouldnt they? not sure..

i said my friend... not myself...

hmmm doesnt matter if they're shit drivers or the cars are stuffed... still an n/a is beating them... and yeah a VN does beat a n/a not by much?? big 3.8ltr vs 2.5ltr they put up a big fight...

we all start somewhere... im suree if he could he would drive a turbo no doubt, as would i.. gotta pay respect when its due dude

Yep that is exactly right. This is the one thing most of these young guys don't understand when talking about "taking a turbo off". This does not make the car legal. The car is complianced and registered as a turbo car therefore it is irrelevant if you take the turbo off, still illegal to drive. (might sound a bit stupid but thats the case).

The only way i can think of making it legal (at least in QLD) is going to an engineer, getting it mod plated for not having a turbo, then re registering it as a non turbo. This still might not be legal i dunno. But if it was it would be the only way to do it and really if your going to all that effort, for f**ks sake just buy a non turbo GTS.

mid to low 15's is that all? my old v6 magna with just a cat back exhaust ran high 14's and it's a fwd family car, LOL

and the only reason a 2.5L skyline can keep up with a commodore or a falcon is because of the gear ratios. give them the same gear ratios and the commodore and falcons would kick the arse of a NA skyline and probably even give a mild turbo skyline a run for it's money.

yea, please listen to other posts mate, either just get a na wether it be 32,33,34 and save ur coin till ur 21st bday n get a gtr, once u get a gtst, u want a gtr so just get one of them straight up. :P

go with a 5 speed vs commy or somethin and just save ur coin n enjoy thrashin the commywhore around then get a vspec :OOOO make the panties drop then.

In sydney, aslong as the car isn't turbocharged its legal. Doesn't matter what its registered as, my mate went through the same process and he wasn't hassled for it....still registered as a GTS25t.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
