Hey guys going to be purchasing a new clutch for my 33r vspec in the next few days, from you experience which clutch would be preferrable.

OS Giken STR2C for $2257 off greenline

ORC 559 Series - Twin Plate Clutch - 550ps for $1835

Any feedback would be appreciated as i intend to purchase soon and have had no multiplate clutch experience :S

Cheers in advance

ash

I shall be contacting Jim Berry tommorow, as he seem to be highly recommended by members

How much power are you chasing?

Jim berry FTW. I have also heard great things about NPC clutches, I have never used one myself but if its good enough for Mark Jacobsens 7 second 32 they should go alright....

You should try to get a drive in a multi plated car first to see what its like.

Mark uses a slider clutch in his car...but did run 8's with an NPC twin plate...the same clutch i also use. NPC's are good because they dont have the annoying rattle like the jap ones do.

car will be running max 400, down the track, but at the moment its running arnd 300... HP that is.

Hey blitz, yeh i saw the nismo's but were quite a bit more expensive than the os and the orc. How much better do you rate them? Have you driven many twin plate's?

I'm in the same situation as this member.

I can get the ORC 559 brand new for 1100 $

or

OS giken 400$ used ( so figure 600$ for new disk) and it's 1000$ for an almost brand new twin plate clutch.

My car:

BNR32 425WHP and 350 lbs of torque.

I can get trap in traffic 2-3 times a week,( 30 minutes of stop and go!) so I need something that will be good enought for daily and good for 5k launch!

From what I can read, Os giken seems to be really good OVERALL but from what I can read the orc 559 *should* be more easy on stop and go ( daily-driven) but now, you are saying it's easier to slip. Man, I don't know, why there's so much brands and product offered hahahaha!!

By the way, would ORC or OSGIKEN be quieter ? or pretty much the same.

NPC twin plate is about $1400 I think. Choice of twin plate button or twin plate cushioned button

I have an NPC single plate 10" sprung button in mine and its amazing. Nearly as soft as stock clutch and it grabs really hard and also isnt to hard to drivein traffic. Give them a call, the guy that I talked to was very helpful

Forgot to add, the price for Nismo Coppermix comes with a flywheel too which save you the trouble of machining yours. I doubt the price of the NPC ones comes with flywheel.

If you're after something thats easy on the foot and will manage more than 300 or 400awhp, ATS and Nismo are the way to go. I've never seen/read anyone complaining about them.

My GTR make 425whp with 350 lbs of torque.

I found a brand new ORC 559 with brand new flywheel for 1100$

or

an OS giken TS2B used but it was been rebuilt with their A kit. This guy ask me 1300 $.

Which one would last longer on the drag ? i.e takes more abuse.

In terms of daily-driving or streetability ?

In terms of noise ? Does the damper help to make less noise ?

And lastly, does one cluch brand need more modification to fit than another ?

well. my car has a r3c. solid centre etc etc. ive had os ts2,npc built os ts2. girlfriend has orc 709d. and all of my os giken ones are way easier to drive. harder pedal. but way easier.

only reason i prefer the os giken is that they can be really abused and still hold up. but like any multiplate. slip it to much and the centre plates can worp. so id pic the one with the thicker centre plate.

not sure how you would find out but..

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
