Haha I meant the opposite Cass! :P I was gonna have some ridiculous polished dish for events like Autosalon etc.

Wouldn't trust replicas for daily driving.

I'd buy stockies for track, or some kind of 15/16" wheel.

I bought my GTR back in August 2005.

Changed new front disks and brake pads.

Rebuilt Rear Diff.

Rebuilt Turbos to steel internals.

New OEM Clutch put in cuz the HKS Twin Plate just about had it.

Aftermarket Front Pipes and a Highflow Cat put in... Also have a Cat Back oval shape muffler going on.

New OEM Slave Cylinder.

Did more rebuilding rather then modifying.

I can dump money in it for the "Go Fast Mods" but I know 1 thing leads to another as this car cost already, as it is.

It is lightly modded and good enough for my weekend drives :)

I say you should enjoy what you got there (your R32 GTR) as you know, the power bug has hit you and you will never be satisfied...

First it is 200+ kWs, then you want 300+ kWs and you will be chasing 400+ kWs... It never ends... Leaving a bigger hole in your wallet.

Lower your standard of your expectation for your car and you will enjoy it better.

Remember, you do have decent mods on it... Utilise it and enjoy it...

That's what I think anyway :D

I'm curious as in why you're binning HKS twin for stock clutch.

I'm guessing you haven't raise the boost level and tune it correct?

no not really enjoying it as we have spent the whole time try to book other places and get out. Once we get past mackay then we will be fine and can resume holiday. Not much we can do hey

'just about had it' grant. Means it was broken.

As to his choice in replacement... *shrug*

I know, why stock, wouldn't sane person go something beefier or stock clutch are as good than people make them to be?

When I had 33R, the clutch didn't last, and I upgraded to OS Giken Triple plate.

Correct Cass! :)

Grant, the car came with a Twin Plate... Who knows how long it has been in there...

Judging by my "whining" rear diff (at the time), the Twin Plate would have seen a lot of 5000+ RPM launches.

It lasted me about 2 years of ownership and started to slip = car won't go anyware = had to rev the hell out of it just to hope it will grab to make the car go.

Pulled the Twin Plate out and there was burnt bits of clutch / ash... Flywheel had wear and tear as well.

Being a 1st time GTR owner at the time, didn't know much about the characteristics of driving with a Twin Plate as there is no play (well not much) it was either IN or OUT of gear and best driven for track use.

At the time it was a daily for me so I need a plate that was good for that...

So I decided to go with a single OEM plate as I know Nissan would have engineered it to put up with a 2.6lt, Inline 6 Twin Turbo.

Meaning it would have to be at least a heavy duty single plate clutch.

:)

Geez, would hate to be on run from mother nature during holidays.

Queensland doesn't have much luck with weather lately...

    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
    • My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.
    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
    • I thought the same to start with. But then I thought it was one of those LCAs where the end of the ARB goes through a bushing in the LCA itself, instead of having an end link.
    • Yeah - I mean, go the other way. Smaller range. Not larger.
