I rekon be it myself I would go a 5858. Apparently they have a broader powerband than the 5558.

OOFT CUZ OOOFT.

If you went in a car with a 5558 you would be happy enough not to worry ;)

I have heard back from the seller - $980 incl shipping, good price I reckon. So now I need to get all the specifics back to him. 5558 CEA Billet T3 V-band 0.63a/r, Type 'S' cover (4" in and 2.5" out). Surge slotted inlet or ported? Faark theres so many options. Please correct the specs for me haha.. Looking at you Jase, you know all this lol..

And 5858 ahhh maaan you guys confusing me grrrrrrr...please dont say thats better with a broader power band, I dont wana go research '5558 vs 5858 now. Just a tad worried on the 0.63a/r as I know with the 3076r, people go the 0.82 generally.

If you research anything else i am sure half of SAU will slap you!

So you are getting a plain bearing 5558? How much laggier are they than the BB ones?

Yes a journal bearing - I did many read-ups, the ball bearing options are not much more responsive for a lot more $$, the Unigroup boys convinced me these 5558s are very identical to the 3076r in spool, response and power but walks away after 23psi.

They are similar, so BUY IT NOW

Ok ok, I WILL buy before end of this week, promise, it takes a day to communicate with US sellers due to time difference. But please do me a little favor, confirm/correct my specs listed above a few threads back. ;)

Are you ordering from real street? Trevor Harmon?

That is what I was going to order, it is what you need. End of story, order NOW!

Oh thanks man - I'm guna get it from FSR Motorsport from Cali.

Just a quick one though, is it with anti surge or not -theres an 'S Cover' and an 'Anti-surge S Cover' according to real street:

Sent the details to seller and asked him to ensure its a T3 housing and not T3/T4 as advertised on some ebay adverts from others. This is what he said:

"T3 refers to the turbine housing and if you go with an SP cover that is a T4 sized cover so in essence it is a T3/T4. Either way the wheels are what matter"

Please advise if thats a problem as its a bit confusing, I'm itching to buy haha..

He also advised me to make the oil lines in- car so its the required length, I want to get a Kando oil line kit however if that will go on the Precision inlet. - 1/8" npt and -4 oil line recommended by him.

dont get the line till you have the turbo yeah.

the order information i gave you is correct. the SP housing has the surge slots.

just get the one i mentioned and stop fretting about it.

Thanks a lot man, sent him an email requesting a paypal order, job done. Please don't tell me now that the 5858 is slightly better with more power and a better powerband or I might start looking for you hehe :D ................ woohoo no more shopping girl now...

Haha nah man that is congrats! weve all been watching you fret over choice for ages. Its good news that you have taken the plunge!

The 5558 is more responsive than the 5858, so im not about to tell you its the wrong choice as we all know it can make killer power!

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
