I went through 4 different exhaust setups until I was happy with what I have at the moment.

Just be carefull of the Jap exhausts, some of them are only quiet because they restict them, I bought an Apexi N1 which was advertised as a 3.5inch system and 'quiet' only to find it had a 2.5 inch silencer welded in it! We cut it out and it flowed really well but too loud for me!

I ended up goin full custom exhaust, the mufflers (10inch x 7 x 16) I sourced from S.M.B and went with the largest 3.5 inch offset mufflers and custom piping.

They are fantastic quality mufflers and I had no loss in power at all from the loud jap exhaust I had.

If you are in Melbourne head down to Sabbadin Automotive Rob: 9558 4422.

Tell him Dave with the Black 34 GTR sent you down, he does amazing work. You are also welcome to check mine out and Ill explain what I have done to mine.

Cheers

Dave

I was quoted approx $3300 for a full Racepace exhuast (leaving stock dumps), but call them for your own application, and I beileve that is mild steel with stainless mufflers.

I think you could do it cheaper in full stainless but the key is the mufflers that you use as to flow and noise.

They are amazing exhausts though.

3K for an exhaust? I know Racepace does excellent work but I wouldn't pay that much for an exhaust, I'll look into Sabbadin automotive at some point when I consider getting a new exhaust, I'm happy with my current one and its quiet enough for now :P

Thanks for the info and apologies for hijacking the thread.

  • 5 months later...
Here I already had one when I got the car but these look great.

Wow, very nice indeed! But I don't think I can really justify the price tag when you can pick up a quality Blitz front pipe for half the price.

Anything on dump pipes? The seamless Tomei Expremes are nice, but again, I don't know whether the price is justified. Thoughts?

what power you chasing? i was under the impression stock R34 GTR dumps are fine for quite a bit of power

Thats correct. I'm doing a few things to my car at the moment for power and they haven't been a bottleneck yet.

Didn't realise that, definitely good to know. I'm not chasing massive power so the stock dumps will probably do for now. I'd be better off spending the extra $$$ on a hi-flow cat than new dumps.

Anyone have any knowledge of performance differences between cheaper front pipes (Blitz, JJR, HPI, OBX, etc.) compared to the higher-end pipes (Mines, HKS, Auto Staff, etc.)? Or is the extra cost solely due to material differences such as titanium over stainless or mild?

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
