hey guys,

I have a r32 gtr and i'm on my p's and want to make it non turbo

the rb26 is missing the top end so i have a rb25de out of a r33 s2

and i wanted to run the 4wd system including the gtr gearbox and i have run into trouble as the 4wd sump wont bolt up to the rb25

so dose anyone know if i can use a rb26 block and put a rb25 crank, rods, pistons, head ect?

Lol one of these threads again, how long will it take for p platers to learn!

Please, please, please sell your GTR, NOW. Poor car, don't even dare try to do said modifications to such a great car. Buy an r32 2dr gts4, and molest that how you want, but for the love of god, don't touch that poor GTR!

Ok now in all seriousness, why would you want to do such a thing? Clearly you have no idea what you're doing, and the modifications you have suggested are wayyyy beyond what you are capable of. No the rb25 won't bolt up the 4wd sump, and no, you can't just wack a set of rb25 pistons/rods etc into a 26 block. Not to mention it's completely pointless because the car will be registered as a twin turbo and it's still illegal for you to drive. Honestly, when will people learn! You can't just rip a turbo off a turbo motor with no other worK, and expect it to run like a dream...

Why don't you buy a non turbo to start off with?

Better question still, why do you want a non turbo gtr???

Gts4 r32s are cheap as and are still 4wd. Not sure if they come in non turbos, but I'm sure just a regular r32 gts will do for p plates.

Please take our advice and don't be an idiot with that gtr...

Save your money and buy a gtr when you get off your Ps...

Your project has one major flaw. The car is still 110% illegal

The car is still build plated as a turbo, the car is therefore illegal, simple as that.

Regardless of if the car "has" a turbo on it or not is irrelevant for the purpose of legalities.

This has been covered countless times now so please spend the time reading all the information that is here.

What do you mean by "the rb26 is missing the top end"???

Have you actually taken the rb26 out? Or is this 16yo theory??? (Is it school holidays again...?)

If you do want to do this, you need to get an rb25 from a stagea or 33 gts4. Both cars are AWD and will bolt in the same as a 26.

If you do get the swap done, wired up and running a few things will happen:

1. You will go through fuel like crazy

2. You will breed a whole new group of lancer/corolla drivers who firmly believe they can beat a GTR

3. You will still be paying huge insurance

4. You will de-value your car

5. You will be laughed at from the wider skyline community

Why don't you grab $10k and burn it.... it's alot quicker.

Or... buy a really nice r32 gts with an NA rb25 and have some fun with that? Then keep saving for the costs of owning a GTR.

J.

garage it, sell it what ever

buy an NA or try and get an exemption for an R32 GTST sedan

and thats pretty much it

if you still want to drive a GTR, keep a tub of lube in the back so the cops have an easier time invading your rectum

Moved to Victoria.........its slightly more appropriate there than the Projects section given your location and the responses that i know are coming...........enjoy!

Throwing meat into a cage of lions :P

Yer man i think that everyone here will tel you the same story. Doesn't seem "smart" what you are doing. Just get an N/A and once you are off the p-plates jump into the GTR.

If i was that keen on a GTR i would just take the p-plates off and hope for the best lol cause either way you are stuffed!

Oh no, please don't do it. That will be one slow ass GTR, the S2 33 the RB25 came out of will even rape you no problem. Just get a 4 Door 32 and do tasteful sneaky mods to it and it will be quick.

If you do it though, please come down to my hood so my bro can race you in his Astra, it has chrome, its fast.

Look for a BMI dvd or youtube that has a girl who built an NA RB20 with 6 open throttle bodies trumpet style (?), the bloody thing REV and scream like crazy, sounds awesome.

look guys i know you are all against this but at the end of the day i already own the gtr and i have a r32 gts with a rb20de but why would i spend all the money on th gts to make it look like a gtr and it's not worth shit, and i dont see any gts4 non turbos... i don't give a shit about the car being plated as a turbo so what its plated as a turbo but at the end of the day its only a non turbo gts powered car that has the stopping of a gtr,

say if you had a vk plated as a v8 with a six they wont touch you...

say you had a mazda rx3 but you put a piston in it they still wont touch you...

my mate has a r33 gtst but has a rb25de in it they dont touch him cos it dosen't have the power of what the plate says...

They won't touch joo!

I think you just summed up what you should do.... Since you have a R32 GTS, why don't you just spend that extra money you saved up and upgrade the brakes and suspensions.

Do it I'll even run it up on my dyno for you so you can show your mates that your gtr make all of 60 kw at he wheels. Even a clapped out high km stock gtr will make 150 at the treads.

Take everyones advice park it up or sell it and drive the gts.

Also the barke power of a gts will be more than enough for a gts unless you plan on building a high as fk comp rb25 with massive cams and itb's then you may have to put a good set of pads and rotors on the factory calipers.

By all means give us a call and we can do it for you.

I must repeat,

I have one suggestion, stop smoking crack...

It's bad for you honestly.

What is with kids these days, I swear they're getting more stubborn than before!

Ash, I'm surprised you haven't lock this thread sooner.

Drive the GTS around till you are off your Ps.

"Park" the GT-R and put money into modding it - the money you spend in converting to an RB25DE and re-converting it back to an RB26 (original engine) once you are off your Ps can buy many mods - with less hassle - which sometimes does not have a dollar value....

Once you are off your Ps you will have a modded GT-R ready to go....

    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
    • Nah, that is hella wrong. If I do a simple linear between 150°C (0.407v) and 50°C (2.98v) I get the formula Temperature = -38.8651*voltage + 165.8181 It is perfectly correct at 50 and 150, but it is as much as 20° out in the region of 110°C, because the actual data is significantly non-linear there. It is no more than 4° out down at the lowest temperatures, but is is seriously shit almost everywhere. I cannot believe that the instruction is to do a 2 point linear fit. I would say the method I used previously would have to be better.
    • When I said "wiring diagram", I meant the car's wiring diagram. You need to understand how and when 12V appears on certain wires/terminals, when 0V is allowed to appear on certain wires/terminals (which is the difference between supply side switching, and earth side switching), for the way that the car is supposed to work without the immobiliser. Then you start looking for those voltages in the appropriate places at the appropriate times (ie, relay terminals, ECU terminals, fuel pump terminals, at different ignition switch positions, and at times such as "immediately after switching to ON" and "say, 5-10s after switching to ON". You will find that you are not getting what you need when and where you need it, and because you understand what you need and when, from working through the wiring diagram, you can then likely work out why you're not getting it. And that will lead you to the mess that has been made of the associated wires around the immobiliser. But seriously, there is no way that we will be able to find or lead you to the fault from here. You will have to do it at the car, because it will be something f**ked up, and there are a near infinite number of ways for it to be f**ked up. The wiring diagram will give you wire colours and pin numbers and so you can do continuity testing and voltage/time probing and start to work out what is right and what is wrong. I can only close my eyes and imagine a rat's nest of wiring under the dash. You can actually see and touch it.
