Shannons wouldn't insure me because i don't have 5 years of driving experience (wtf?)

Just Car, 1170/yr for comp, with the excess adjusted all the way to the maximum. 287/yr for 3rd party.

Comp or 3rd party? Its just an auotmatic NA supra which i will probably sell off in about 2years

not very reassuring lol but i must agmit they have been 'nice' so far. no actual repairs have been carried out on the car yet lol

Get used to waiting. Its been 2 weeks and nothing helpful's been done to the GTR either.

I dont adjust my excess because thats just asking for trouble...on standard excess im still paying close to 3k a year for them to treat me like shit.

And, always go comp...because then they miiiight fix your car too. if you like their dodgy repairers.

LOL Just Cars Insurance... I'll be changing on renewal, to Shannons.

After my accident, I had it sent to choice of repairer. They insisted on picking it up and taking it to a better place, and claiming the shop I sent it to quoted second hand parts as opposed to the "better place" (which is BS because I know the people at the shop). A "better place" whom has replaced my type m grille with another type and asked me for $1500 because the front bar was a "special" one (which i've since told AAMI), not that I tried telling them about the car or whatever. AAMI now has the car and will deal with the repairer; I was just lucky enough to have a client whom is an AAMI accredited repairer and told me I had that option (because I did not want to deal with the repairer and was just going to let it be).

Albeit my concerns about the repairer's professionality, and the lack of confidence I had in the repairer, AAMI persisted it go back there under "strict" QA and sign off from AAMI before I pick it up. Heres hoping... :P

Lol dude look at the access with full adjustment. it make insurance not worth it haha you will be paying 3k access and 1.2k a year for comp. 4.2k :P

but on the other hand you will have the piece of mind in case of accident.... your call. Panel beater charger an arm and leg for their services!

again i say to you...what happens if someone hits YOU?

Even if youre the best driver in the world, other people arent. What if they dont have insurance?

Then youre pretty much f**ked.

Your choice.

Hi Cassandra, did you go to Sheen Panels in South Melbourne? and if you did, did you see a Bayside blue R34GTR there?

Alvin as everyone else has said accidents do happen, full comp gives you piece of mind.

until you hit a bently

+1.

Didn't see the 34, imagine it'd have been inside, only pulled my 33 into the driveway. Busy yard there. They said the getzes were booked up till mid July yet there were 2 there a the time? Beats me. I still haven't made a decision on the payout or sheen's yet. Like choosing between lubed rape and unlubed really...neither is really what I want

I would get 3d party at least. Personally I have always got comp, as it is good in that you know you are covered for most things. eg., if someone hits you, totals your car and seriously injures you it should be your insurance company who pays all your car bills, lost income, medical bills, compensation, etc. If you don't have comp insurance in that situation, good luck getting the money from the other party (usually a penniless uninsured unregistered scumbag) in the courts. Also, in many situations you will have an accident even if you are a very careful driver.

eg., if the car in front of you brakes suddenly for whatever reason and you hit them, it is always your fault.

In many cases where the other party is at fault, where there are no witnesses (or worse - retarded witnesses taking the other person's side) it's just your word against someone else's, and the insurance companies don't know who is at fault.

well everyone, i got the GTR back last arvo from Sheen Panels in south Melbourne, i spent about half an hour going over the repairs and paint job and i have to say the workmanship is perfect. all panels were aligned perfectly as i measured the gaps and the paint was matched exactly to factory. all parts fitted are brand new. can't even tell it's been repaired.

i'll give'em 10/10 for repairs and painting. i highly recomend them. that's coming from someone that is perdantic when it comes to my car. also had 8 people and my work mechanic (use to work as a panel beater) at work go over the repairs this morning and they all say they did a very good job and that i should be happy with it.

I think the gtr is going there early July. Glad to hear you got an awesome Result. Boosts our confidence in them ;) thanks for the report!

Yeah i was expecting to find something wrong and have to leave it there to get fixed, but repairs are all good :thanks: .

Also apparently the assesor has approved to have Cassandra's car repaired aswell  .

    • You know how your car rolled through a fence in your last jacking escapade? Scissor jacks increase the likely hood of that sort of thing happening immensely!
    • http://calfinn.com.au/product/1500kg-standard-trolley-jack-cj-2t-c/1500kg-standard-trolley-jack-cj-2t-c   I have this and fits under a S3 33 GTR with no issues. Purchased in 2009 and not one issue. It was $950 back then. Not cheap but something so important isn’t worth cheaping out on.
    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
