"A 41-year-old was nearly killed when a heavy bluestone block was dropped from a Melbourne freeway overpass into his truck windscreen."

I hope the people that did this get run over or struck by lighting or something. 23 KILOGRAMS! just ridiculous

what do you think?

driving on the eastern the otherday i could see kids up on top of one of the overpasses wearing masks and holding bottles - when i saw them i put my foot down a bit, didnt want some idiot throwing a bottle at my car =/

amazes me why they dont spend i dunno 10K and put camera's at the overpasses of freeways...

oh wait no revenue so vic roads couldnt give a shit.

Thats bloody disgusting.

Kids these days, what were they thinking, or were they not thinking at all.

When i was like 12, we threw sauce sachets at buses/cars that was it, they didn't even break open, but it was pretty funny. but rocks, thats disgusting.

I work in that area and overnight we have only 2 police units covering about 8 suburbs. No wonder things like this happen and offenders don't get apprehended.

Few weeks ago it was fire bombs onto freeway and now large rocks. Won't be long until someone is killed by this dangerous stupid behaviour.

Call me paranoid but I already look ahead at pedestrian overpass bridges, to spot the little f**kers if they are up to no good.

I wouldn't be surprised if the people doing these types of things are (literally) mentally retarded. I mean there are pranks and then there is gross negligence.

i told my dad about this and he came with a rather good idea. these kids should be forced to enlist in the army and then maybe they'll get some sense knocked into them about the significance of ones life

just saw the guy that was driving the truck on t.v while reading this thread not good..I drive on that freeway every day.The people that did that should have that rock dropped on there hands till there smashed to bits..no more lifting rocks you stupid morons ..ahhhhhhhhhhh

Eh things are pretty f**ked up these days...not that im condoning in any what they did was ok...but 2 mates on seperate occasions have almost died to to truckie bullshit behaviour on roads.

So could be some sort of retaliation. But having said that it would be fairly hard to get your trajectory right with a 23kg rock if you were a kid? Maybe they have had practice, who knows.

I do the same thing. However night time it is hard to see if anyone is up there :P

    • They are under bucket shims. Tomei provides a test shim kit and then any measurement of shim required.
    • I always wondered how you were supposed to buy a set of 24 buckets and somehow magically have every single one of them yield exactly the desired clearance. I would have thought you'd need to assemble a cam with either 12 "sample" or "example" buckets of known top thickness (or a single such sample/example 12 times over!!) measure clearances at every valve, and then do the usual math to work out what the actual "shimness" of each bucket needed to be, before buying the required buckets to make up he thicknesses that you didn't have on hand.
    • I now seem to be limited in power due to my rev limit/hydraulic lifters in my built RB25. I'm looking into converting over to Tomei solid lifters. Question for anyone that has done the conversion. I was always under the impression that when using the Tomei solid lifter conversion, you would also require new valves (Longer or shorter stems, I can't remember which).  I don't know where I got this idea, as so far I see no mention of this in any of the Tomei documentation. It just states I need the Tomei solid buckets, solid lifter cams and upgraded springs. As my head is already built, all I would need is another set of 1000$ Kelford cams, 500$ buckets and about 4H hours of my time installing and I'm off to the races!?!? There's no way it's that simple, I must be missing something?
    • I couldn't agree more. I should have started from the get-go with a NEO or solid bucket conversion. I started looking into converting over to solid lifters yesterday.
