Brilliant day guys! Was my first time out with you all and had an absolute blast! Car went well, had the expected level of brake fade and new my clutch pressure plate was dying so when she started going it wasn't a total surprise but managed to run a 1:37.3 in a totally stock r32 gtst, very happy!

Sorry I didn't get to meet more of you I couldn't work out who was who.

Question, I don't remember filling in my sau comp category anywhere? How does that whole comp points thing work?

Cheers!

Good time there Sledge. Pity I couldn't make it... Let me know how the car is!!!

Sorry I didn't get to meet more of you I couldn't work out who was who.

Nice to meet you Chris

Russ well done mate!

As for the Lambo and Rex WTF 18's is hammering.

Sound like I missed a great day

For the kit it had, I reckon it should have been faster. Full slicks, big aero...

noob question, what was stuck on with duct tape to a bunch of cars? Just under the door was some box covered in duct tape? Show it on a bunch of cars. Is it some data logger?

That's the timer.

Russ almost into the 23s!

I really didn't think I would do a pb today. That time was the second last session and my pads were on metal. maybe I should run without pads. Might be quicker! Interesting that all my other times were 26's or higher... :D

I reckon with some newer tyres, better conditions, smarter driving and my current setup would be capable of a 22. Don't think I'll find out though coz by the time I go back the setup will be way different. :/ Are there any more sandown's this year?

Also first time I ran with your old sway bars. I think they're working. Plus more camber and caster prob helped too.

You need to give back the Teins and swaybars if you go and put that filthy goat herder's engine in your car.

Actually, it will be interesting to see any difference in pace with the brakes and engine. August and maybe the first week of Sep is going to be my last chance to punch out laps in my car. Its looking more and more likely that it wont see an Aussie track for quite some time after that

first time on the track in this car. Only done 3000ks still a bit tight. Next are Dunlop semi-slicks.

I would have been in the 1:27's in S4 if two cars infront didn't spin. Didn't complete last session as tyres were starting to fade too much and want to keep these road tyres.

Sorry about the quality

Good time there Sledge. Pity I couldn't make it... Let me know how the car is!!!

Car was great. Engine's running sweet, brakes are useless. Will spend some money on the brakes before the next session.

Funny thing was the HICAS crapped out at the start of the 3rd session and the car felt so much better, so thats going before the next event too!

Russ,

Not that ive looked into it too much

WRX club still to release a date

First up big thanks to the organizers and volunteers ;) despite a few incidents the day ran smoothly.

I started the day hoping I could match my previous PB of 1:24.6 based on the fact I had to learn to drive the car again due to some new suspn bits, and ended the day with a new PB of 1:23.8 :bunny:

When we turned up the track was still very wet with lots of standing water and by the end of the day the track was dry except for dandy rd corner and the last turn onto the straight. Even in the wet the car had awesome front end grip and the rear was very controllable which gave me confidence to push. By the time the track had a dryish line I had already equalled my previous PB and kept pushing until the end of the day resulting in two laps in the 1.23's. Considering the state of my semis + the mistakes I made during those two laps I have no doubt the car is capable of another sec or two.

Big thanks to Racepace for knowing what to do to turn my car from one that refused to turn into a corner, to one that whats to turn in a straight line!! :)

I'd be in for that too! Provided you boys don't mind my slower gtst following you around? (on the up side it would make you all look a lot faster! :) )

Hey Rus, what was the name of the place you said for the brake pads? Clutch, hicas lock bar & rear camer arms on order. will sort some new springs out next week and want to order some pads now too!

Cheers!

Sandown 1, me 0. Thanks rowdy for your helicopter bush mechanics and Alex with the S15 for letting me dismember his busted car for spares.

the 180 will not rest until it does a respectable time at sandown.

well done Russ, Tim and Mick and Richo and Ant. its hard to say but i think the water on the track was worth 1ish second. The water on the last turn really hindered getting onto the front straight.

Hey Chris.

GSL rallysport.

They're in the trader for sale section.

Lol don't forget the water in the downhill braking area for dandy corner....I won't forget going for the anchors, and stepping sideways in THAT area for a while :) At least it gave me a good line for the exist of that corner :)

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
