i think there was too much limiter bashing, it was horrible, and is not cool at all.

i was only bashing my limiter off the line this time ! so don't look at me to much, i have to get some heat into my tyres

the first time i took my silvia out, i was quite enjoying bouncing it off the limiter around the track, i quite enjoyed it too, the only reason i don't do it now is cause iv'e spent too much on the engine

My problem is I either leave it in first and smash the limiter, or I switch to second then try and ram it back into first when I reach the cone. I've already had one gearbox blow on me, and they're nearly as expensive to replace as the engine!

Same problem in mine. It's frustrating being in 2nd and almost hitting the limiter but the next cone is not far enough to make it worthwhile changing up, so it's a constant pace to the next cone

haha, i was just messing around to see what comments i would get lol, limiter bashing is awesome

lol

so who's hanging online waiting for results ? just me ?

i hit my limiter in my ute yesterday  then a damm big dog was confused as hell cause she thought my car growled lol

Why do I get the feeling that was a jest at me

Kez do u double / heel toe into 1st gear? Makes it a hell of alot easier on the gearbox and to get the thing into 1st :D

I don't even know what you're talking about so I'm guessing no, lol.

And Ryan, that's just cruel!

When you go down a gear, as you hit the brakes with your toe you use your heel to blip the throttle to match the revs so it goes in smoothly.

It's very easy and a reflex action when you get used to it

Agreed, practice makes perfect really... when I was learning I took the long way to/from work just so I could get some more mileage through corners.

Once accomplished Kez, aim to double clutch heel toe which will not only stop the jerky downshift, but will save your synchros a lot. This involves what Hamish described but you let the clutch out in neutral as you blip, then clutch back in before selecting the lower gear.

Good guide I learnt from:

http://www.drivingfast.net/car-control/rev-matching.htm

I learnt just doing it while I was driving around town.

I.e. RoundABout's etc

start by learning to blip the throttle without worrying about the brakes

you will quickly learn how much you need to press it to get the revs matched

then you can learn to do it with your heel (or you can also roll your foot like I do with my size 14's)

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
    • Well the articals keep saying a Q50s (Skyline in Japan) with a new Manual gearbox. I like the talk about the new looks with the round tail lights. I hope they bring back the retro look like they did with the Z
