Wow, you're an idiot.

3 times in 5 years is a horrible driving record. I live in Melbourne and admittedly, three years ago I lost all of my points. I chose the golden demerit point option and have been way more careful since.

Cancel your deposit. I don't think you deserve a GTR.

dude, thats tops, have not heard that phrase for years, as my brother used to say after he picked up on the weekend:

"Yeah, i knocked the back end out of her" or "I demolished her" HAHAHAHAHAH

Appreciate all the feedback but this thread is deteriorating.

My my how people act when not face to face with someone.

Thanks again for your responses.

Ill visit again when its safe :P

face it, you're a dick. you lost you licence, so assuming that you are on your opens then that means you got done mulitple times doing stupid things. you obviously have a terrible driving history so the insurance quote is reasonable.

also the premium is $5000 on a $180,000 car. that is less than 3% of the vehicle cost. hell that's about the cost of a set of tyres for it. to put it into perspective, there are young guys on here paying $2000 to insure a r33 or r34, and that is a car worth at most about $20,000, so they are paying 10% of the value of the car and you are whinging about paying less than 3%. stop being such a cry baby and just pay it.

oh and anything i've said here i'll say it to you over the net or to your face. lame threats don't scare me, because i know that if i say it to your face and you react like a childish bully and punch me then i'll just sue your arse off and make sure you end up in jail becoming someone's bitch. a small amount of pain in exhange for knowing that you'd be getting reamed would be more than worth it.

lulz good read chaps would read again!

to the OP: you're either a lame troll, can't actually AFFORD the car, and to add to that your driving is obviously shocking. You're getting panned by everyone for good reason. Who in their right mind loses their licence THREE times in FIVE years and expects to get a decent insurance quote!?!? on a R35 no less!

I commend you, S15-guy, for taking this sort of abuse. No one here knows you and they just assumed the worst. You took it pretty well on the chin and didn't resort to childish crap like so many others do.

Nobody here is a saint, and just for future referance, Shannons has a rule that if you have lost your license 3 times in 5 years then they won't insure you. End of story. I'm sure lots of other places have the same rule.

Thanks Steve, I havent even read the abuse concerning me (just quickly scrolled down and ignored it all). Some people lack even an ounce of intelligence or sophistication and its best to ignore such monkeys. Hyenas love to bark and howl at the lions...the lions dont seem bothered.

QBE insurance (linked with nissan) have given the insurance to me on $2,760 a year with $1,200 excess. They pulled strings because it was linked to the sale of the car.

Also got another quote from medlink insurance (they insure doctors) but not as good as QBE. Yes people...some doctors have been caught speeding.

Thanks to all who gave constructive advise.

Lions are afraid of hyenas & usually give up their meals so as not to be attacked. Just saying.

Doctors have been caught speeding?

Fark me, I thought coke was their thing.

My oh my how the times have changed, I remember when I was just a whipper snapper, and i wore an onion on my belt........

3 times in 5 years, your so evil, Waaaaaaa. I shat my pants when the bus cuts me off Waaaaaaa.

Come chat when you get out of long bay, and say Hi to old mate for me.

3 times in 5 years... PPFffff....

On a serious note, if you want to own 180k car and have it insured, buy it with clean money. By the time you save up that sort of cash with hard work, you wont have had the time to break the speed limit and youll be 60 like the rest of the guys on here that own one. Then you can A: get insurance from Shannons and B: take it up the bum paying 5kpa and smile about it.

Alternatively, drive something you can afford IE an S15, lose your license a few more times and be happy.

I really am only paying you out about the clean money business, I dont know you from a bar of soap, yet 5kpa insurance is a pitance on a 180k vehicle.

we arnt the ones threatening to beat people up, or having a cry that after a shite driving record like you have, that a company like Shannons wont touch you

Straight away that brings to mind the question of what happens in the second year, will they jack it up to the 5k mark?

I'd be making sure it's not a 12 month deal. Look at NRMA's 2 year fixed price promo for example. You may be happy with the price this year but then when it's doubled next year they've got you in a position you don't want to be in, even worse if it's on finance because it has to stay insured.

Good luck with it.

Edit: Vic police are shockers, I was down there in 2002 with a mate for a weekend and we copped a defect for the weight rating on each tyre. Pricks. The tyres were rated for 2.1 tonne instead of 2.5 tonne and the car weighed 1.4 tonne so where's the danger...

    • @666DAN sorry to bring you and old thread.     I've got my de+t done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.    Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd when selected . But nothing when in  drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic. I'm sure there is maybe 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Do ya have any ideas?     Cheers man
    • Well I recently changed my rear axles and was thinking if I bumped anything, I have been driving the car for a while now though... But it has been raining today so everything is wet under the wheel arches. Brakes feel fine and can't hear any of the metal screamers, I had a squeak coming from one of the handbrake drums but that seems to have gone away a while ago. I was going down a hill when it lit up and I did feel the abs bite for a second and question why it did it?
    • Correct. Um. I dunno. I haven't cared enough about the way that the NA cars work to know for sure. But..... The 33/34 turbo manual cars have an electronic speed sensor in the gearbox that outputs a +/- (ie, sawtooth AC) voltage signal. That is connected to the speedo. The speedo then outputs a 0-5v square wave (ie, PWM) signal that the ECU (and any other CU on the bus) sees. The speed sensor is NOT directly connected to the ECU. So here's the problem. Your new ECU expects to see the PWM signal, but must somehow be getting a direct signal from the diff speed sensor. Which would suggest that the wiring of the NA car is not the same as the turbo cars. I think you will need to spend some time with (hopefully the wiring diagram for the car) and a multimeter to see what is connected to what. Then, presuming I am correct**, you would then want to separate the ECU speed signal input from the rest of the car's wiring, and probably either buy a speed signal converter, or build one using an arduino (or similar). That would take in the speed sensor signal and output a scaled (and suitably rearranged) signal for the ECU. ** We shouldn't presume that I am correct here, because there might be something else crazy going on. I don't think you could convert the speedo to be fed from the gearbox sensor, because the pulse rate from that sensor is probably different to the diff sensor and then the speedo would read wrongly. And this also wouldn't fix the ECU's problem either, because the ECU doesn't want to see the gearbox signal direct either (assuming that they are all on the same wiring, for some odd NA related reason, see above caveat!) Does this help? Probably not. Can you make it work? Almost certainly. With the above work. You should buy a handheld oscilloscope from Aliexpress so that you can view these signals directly. Connect up the probes and drive the car. Show photos of the screen when drving at known speeds and connected to different places, and we'll see what we can learn about it.
    • Assuming your brake pads are not worn right down, I'd add a little brake fluid. Is there any sign of a brake fluid leak?
    • Hello all,  I need of some help. On my drive home my handbrake light lit up and started flashing. When I got home I checked my handbrake sensor under the centre console and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. I have scanned my car via the consult port, no codes shown. Checked my brake fluid as well which is half full. Tried unplugging the brake master but it didn't change anything. Thoughts on what it could be? The master float doesn't seem to be stuck. My car is an 1998 ER34 sedan GT. No hicas but has ABS Photos below 👇🏾
