I would have become defensive with my responses as the OP did. Too easy to say to someone your a 'dckhead' and to 'hardn the f up' on a forum. Dare I say with 100% certainty, non of these posters would say anything like this face-to-face.

I can def. see Andy saying it to him.

Also: $2400/y on a 1993 R33 insured for 15k. Works out something like 16% premium vs 3%. Again, if you've got the money to afford the car, you have to factor insurance into it.

Cheers Owen, I'm more than happy to say it face to face, on the phone, forum, anywhere......

Have to agree that Andrews poster was sensational, give that man a beer! Sure its not even 11am, but its happy hour somewhere in the world.

i would, and regularly do to people who tell me that they were caught speeding, etc. whether i know them or not. especially if i know them. my mate just got his licence back for the 10th time or something like that. he usually loses it in the first 6 months of getting it back because he only has 4 points. i constantly tell him he's a cockhead. i have customers coming in to buy bikes because they lost their licence. i tell them they are stupid as well.

my best mate is in the same situation lost it well over 5 times in 10 years. Just lost it again last week and my first words to him "you're a farking dickhead and shouldnt be on our roads" he just shrugs his shoulders...... what else can we do. They keep getting their licence back, he has a few months off to think about what he has done (more like drink himself silly as he does) then gets it back and history repeats itself. Eh, i wont be losing any sleep over it.

your photo...and your car....I NEED NOT SAY ANY MORE

cheers fool

At least I get decent insurance! :P

Also my photo, so what? One taken at a good fun night out in the middle of some fun. You have a problem with this? LOL

Secondly, my car that I have listed is done so as a running joke, those who know me/it understand... Again, you're the fool, who has lost his licence 3 times in 5 years and can't understand why no one wants to insure you!

thread keeps on delivering :P

fyi, we're not condemning him for speeding, it's the fact that he got caught enough times to lose his licence 3 times in 5 years, then bitches about insurance premiums on a car he likely dosen't own anyway! It should be moved to the wasteland for further lols

Anyone can tell there best mate to 'go suck a cock' and it's all laughs. Even a customer can be told they are a bit stupid in the right tone of voice. But a complete strangers face??? No I don't think so, and I don't care how big you are or if your an ex-thai boxer.

All you needed to do was answer the OPs question, nothing more.

I agree with Marlins first post. All I have to add to that is there are some real helpfull people but also a lot of dick heads on SAU.

the point here everyone is trying to make can be pretty much summed up thusly

lose your licence once: fair enough, we all do stupid things when we are young

lose your licence a second time in a short period of time: obviously a slow learner

lose it a 3rd time in 5 years: are you too stupid to learn the first 2 times that you need to learn what the road rules are and follow them

but then i question the intelligence of anyone who loses their licence even the first time. when i had my p's i got done for doing 82 in a 60 zone (hail storm coming and was trying to get home before it hit, but then i did speed a lot of the time back then anyway). i lost 3 points, meaning i had 1 point left. it was 9 months until i got my opens and got more points. in that 9 months my driving habits changed dramatically. i rarely sped, and if it was it was only a few km over the limit, where as before that it was usually 10 to 20kmh over the limit (10 on normal roads, 20 on the highway). having to go so long being a good boy permanently altered my driving habits. i stick to the speed limit 99% of the time. i no longer have a heart attack if i see a cop car coming the other way, or a speed camera or officer with a radar gun because i know that i'm going to be safe. i still check the speedo to make sure i haven't drifted over, but don't have to hit the brakes to slow down like i used to. yet other people i know don't seem to learn. they will get done for speeding or doing burnouts, etc, then continue to go out drifting, etc even though they have 1 or 2 points left, and then sure enough the next time i talk to them they've lost their licence for 3 months or 6 months.

Well i do think so, have done so many times. Will continue to do so. Anyways moving right along here kids.

I told him to harden up, and then i suggested Just Car insurance as thats who i am insured with and who offer great service (well for me) and value (for me anyway).

Deep breaths for everyone, and move on. Its almost home time, so have a top weekend SAUers!!! :P

doesn't come down to how big you are or how good of a fighter you are. if i met this guy in the street on my way home today i'll tell him he's a dick. all comes down to what sort of people you are used to dealing with. where i live there is a lot of ferals/bogans who like to act all tough and confront you about the slightest little thing. if you look at them while they drive past they will stop, hop out and come and have a go at you (i've had this happen while packing up at work in the afternoon before). it's nothing out of the ordinary and doesn't take much to tell to stop acting like dicks and get them to get back into the car and leave. you just need to know what you are doing

What does bother me about some of the replies in here is the amount of people he has defending him, if you've lost your license 3 times in 5 years you are either a massive dickhead or the most unfairly victimised person on earth. This person clearly fits into the former by his own admission of speeding on numerous occasions.

Now if this was in any other section of SAU and about any other car this guy would be coping massive amounts of shit from everyone. Now just imagine for a second that this guy was trying to insure his VL Turbo and lost his license 3 times, how much sympathy would he get then? absolutely f**king zero. Just because someone has a super car it doesnt make them a better person, just better at making money. How many times have we had people come into our respective state sections after losing their licenses and get absolutely blasted by all of us because we dont to be associated with that sort of behaviour, yet own a R35 and all is forgiven. If I am misreading the mood feel free to correct me.

I don't think anyone defended him, it's more like "yes he is a cock, yes he deserves what he gets, but it has been said 11ty billion times now". He wont learn to drive like a decent person by having a bunch of hate replies (although he didn't help his cause by saying stupid things back, he does sound like he has very extreme bipolar by the way he gets all defensive and then attacking and then Mr nice guy). No one has forgiven him or is suposed to forgive him because he "claims" to be buying an R35, I have no idea where this train of thought of cutting him a break because he owns a budget supercar has come from? It hasn't been statet at all. All that was said is basically he has the envy (r35) of what most SAU members want but will not afford untill the car is 10 or so years old. If you guys think that justifies me saying that "we should cut him a break for buying a supercar of which i dont consider it a supercar", I think some of you should go back to school and repeat primary school English class again, reading things that isn't written is pretty stupid.

This thread should move to the wastelands and only be viewed to cheer people up. I'm sure if i'm having a shitty day i'll come back here, read the first few pages and be all happy and greatful that i'm not the OP and I don't think like the OP does.

Taking inflation and the different buying power of the AUD back 1993 the R32 gtr was sold in Australia, there isn't much difference in price when converted into the current AUD buying power for an R35, if you converted an R32 into current value it was over $150k in todays money... If an R35 is called a super car, then all the other GTR's should be super cars aswell.

    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
