Yeah but the X6M looks like a rhino taking a shit. Its also deeply impractical if anyone over 5ft ever wants to sit in the back.

Yeah he aint buying one, they just offered a test drive because they got one in so you wouldn't say no lol. I actually love the look of the X6's (Havn't seen the X6M), I think they look tough as f**k. Black, 5% tint on big black wheels with a polished lip :) But if I had $200k to spend on a car I wouldn't be buying one.

E92...looks slick as and goes like stink.......

There kinda like the 33, but newer...

Pretty sure the motor made top ten engines of 2009 or something like that....

EDIT

Yep brand new they are. However second hand depending on year model they can be had for $70k-$100k. My old mans buying one once his car is sold and he finds the right one (black in either manual or paddle shifts). A bit off topic but my best mate is taking a new X6 M series for a spin on Monday, twin turbo V8 2 tonne car that can do 0-100 in under 5 seconds :D

Have you seen the Top Gear review on X6? After seeing that, it totally changed my opinion of it even though i kinda find the design special.

I reckon save yourself the trouble - buy Hannah some jewellery and get something properly fast.

I went the E46. Theres a blown one that comes into work that sounds nuts!

Damo, you should clearly know who wants me to get a 'real' car then instead of the 'boy racer thing' I have now haha. I'm a few weeks off my 8 year R34 ownership anniversary, so yes ready for a change

I was actually all keen for the RS4 as my preference was manual AWD. But after considering how many dry days we do have in QLD RWD is still a good option, which strongly points to the 335i. The E46 is still hot from the outside, but I'm put of by the 80's looking satnav seriously the R34 looks more modern inside. I'm not sure I could cope with feeling like I'm in an older car.

Shame the TTRS isn't cheaper, I'd be all over that for sure.

Don't even get me started on the comprimise of getting a nice, slow (yet grown up) BMW and me having an EVO...that didn't go down well either :D

M3 was my vote.

I'd have chosen the 335i if it had a Ohlins Susp'n upgrade.

I've driven it and I do like the active steering - but if it had the susp'n upgrade then TICK.

Too true, never miss an opportunity to thrash someone elses car  It must be a pretty weird experience barelling down the road that quick in something that weighs 2+ tons, especially with such a high centre of gravity.

Gotta be RS4

Anyone that has heard one of those things will a decent exhaust will smile :D

smiles

I voted the RS4. As fast as you could want and can do it with 4 adults inside. Can't beat that.

agreed

I love my rs4. oops, wrong brand.

Yeah seen the Top Gear review on the X6. Havn't seen one on the X6M though. No doubt as a 4WD they are crap and as a sports car they are crap, but I just can't get passed the pumped aggressive looks of it and the fact it has some curves for a huge 4WD. My main love is for the look of it, 4WD's aren't really my thing but the X6 just does it for me.

Haha yeah. Would be pretty funny smashing a sports car off a set off lights with a 2 tonne 4WD lol.

have driven a new M3, a porsche & I would choose the M3-cant believe I just said that, but it was the M3 I preferred, mad handling & an awesome sound

The new M3 is a bit too pricey :D Then you need to add the cost of some brakes that won't fade :D

Interesting little thing is the new M3 model is dropping the V8 and going to a twin turbo inline 6 and the new M5 is dropping the V10 and going to a twin turbo V8. Seems the twin turbo 335i made a decent impact.

the m3 is an awesome car, but its a tad overdone for a streeter..I think this is where the 335i is gaining popularity, its simple its smooth its sexy and it hammers...Without the "Look at me" wank factor...Thats what ferraris are for :D

Interesting choice of cars.

I picked the E46 M3. For mine it'd also have to be the proper manual and not the SMG.

It's slightly unfair to compare the RS4 with the E46, as the E46 generation ended about the same time the RS4 came out and therefore is about half a generation behind; but you're right, in that the E92s are still priced too high.

This means there'd be a few bargain E46 M3s around and I'd say there are also more to choose from than the RS4.

I think you'd find the RS4 would drive "a level above" the 335i, as it's more of a proper sports car and a competitor to the M cars (I think an S4, or newer S5 - as opposed to RS4 - would be a better match for the 335i). As someone said already the 335i has an open diff and even stock standard they can tend to spin up the inside wheel rather easily, not to mention a tuned one.

The 911 will probably hold its value the best out of the bunch as Porsches tend to do, but the 996 was slightly disappointing for Porsche enthusiasts when it arrived so probably won't have quite the strength in resale as the last of the air-cooled 911 (993) or the newer 997...

Let us know how you go! Choose whichever one makes you the happiest. :P

OK, this is just my 2cent, I've driven all those cars in stock and modded form at one time or another, For me I would go, RS4 simply, it is almost unbreakable, and i'm very skittish with BMW reliability when modded. If you've been a skyline driver for many years, hoping into a porsche "week end car only" will raise some hairs at times, and trust me, no amount of engineering will overcome physic.. plain and simple.

If you decide on RS4, make sure that it has been well maintain and show no signs of oil leaks, as this will be turbo seals oil leak, and could be very exxy.

Just remember secondhand euros are serious money pits when they play up.

    • Welcome to Skyline ownership. Yes, it is entirely possible parts websites get things wrong. There's a whole world of inaccuracies out there when it comes to R34 stuff (and probably 33 and 32). Lots of things that are 'just bolt on, entirely interchangable' aren't. Even between S1 and S2 R34's. Yes they have a GTT item supposedly being 296mm. This is incorrect. I would call whoever you got them from and return them and let them know the GTT actually uses 310mm rotors. Depending on where you got them from your experience and success will obviously vary.
    • Hi...a bit a "development" on the brakes. I spoke to the guys where i get brakes from...and they are saying that 296mm EBC are for R34 GT-T. I then went to their site: https://www.ebcbrakes.com/vehicle/uk-row/NISSAN/Skyline (R34)/ and search for my car(R34 GT 1998 - it has GTT brakes) and it show me this USR1229 number and they are rly 296mm rotors... So now iam rly confused... The rotors i have now on the car are 310mm asi shown... So where is the problem? Does the whole EBC got it wrong or my calipers are just...idk know what?
    • Oh What the hell, I used to get a "are you sure you want to reply, this thread is XX months old" message. Maybe a software update remove that. My bad.
    • This is a recipe for disaster* Note: Disaster is relative. The thing that often gets lost in threads like this is what is considered acceptable poke and compromise between what one person considers 'good' looks and what someone else does. The quoted specs would sit absurdly outside the guards with the spacers mentioned and need  REALLY thin tyres and a LOT of camber AND rolling the guards to fit. Some people love this. Some people consider this a ruined car. One thing is for certain though, rolling the guards is pretty much mandatory for any 'good' fitment (of either variety). It is often the difference between any fitment remotely close to the guards. "Not to mention the rears were like a mm from hitting the coilovers." I have a question though - This spec is VERY close to what I was planning to buy relative to the inboard suspension - I have an offset measuring tool on the way to confirm it. When you say "like a mm" do you mean literally 1mm? Or 2mm? Cause that's enough clearance for me in the rear :p I actually found the more limiting factor ISNT the coilover but the actual suspension arms. Did you take a look at how close those were?
    • @GTSBoy yeah sorry i know thery are known for colors bud those DBA are too in colors 🙂 Green will be good enough for me
