Volk Racing TE37's are one of the best wheels to come from Japan!

My R32 GTR with 17 x 9 +22 Offset with a 5mm spacer in the rears just to fill up the rears a bit.

Everyone is saying go +12 Offset so you get a bit more deep lip / concave on the spokes which look better.

Mine came with the car and I would have liked more deep lip but it still looks nice.

Bronze of Silver will depend on what colour R32 GTR you have... Looks like in your avatar you have a Silver GTR, I'd go Bronze to get some contrast in colour going.

your number plate is farked bro ^^

It was bent so it does not rub against the front bar as it does not fit like the Japanese plates.

Came like that when I bought the car.

I should put some spacers behind the plate to push it out abit.

Yeah I would say it would have been better to post it up in the suspension/wheel/tyre subforum. Asking this sort of question in this subforum has resulted in answers regarding what would look better. I guess your question has confused everyone into thinking what would suit a show car, not a track car.

Either way, +22 will still give you the 'concave' look. They will not be flat with that width and offset.

Cheers,

Jack

Why bother making a topic if your going to get TE 37s +22 everyone knows they fit , "yawn"

based on the pic above there is sooo much space for +12 its not even an issue, i get what your saying jack but 10mm will not effect his performance negatively so why not also make it look decent? we aren't telling him to slam it on its guts with camber to fit..

^ all it needs jamie is.....

more on topic, +12 defs, although id be after the newer TE37 SL

Sell me your boot lid with the spoiler on it Will

Nick, 18 x 9.5 +22 should be fine if your using for track / performance work.

Guys, I did not say in any way that +12's will affect his performance negatively, in theory +12 should be better due to increased track. LotusGTR has specified clearly that he does not want to lip/modify/roll his guards, that's why I have recommended him go the +22 offset. If he was to go +12 he would have to do some sort of modification as the tyre will rub on the track with a decent semi comp tyre. All those that are running +12 offset are either street cars that don't see the track or have made some modifications to rectify the problem.

Didn't intend on stepping on anybody's toes just talking from experience and what other's on the track have experienced with this particular situation.

Peace.

Jack

P.S I could have just agreed with everybody and convinced him +12 are the way to go, after all I do have some very nice Nismo LMGT4's for sale in that size, width and offset.

didn't realise that he wont roll his guards....

i should have been posting "man up" instead :/

Lipping the guards with the +12 does not sit well with me as it is kind of messing with things too far - that's my philosophy.

:D

Well guys I certainly appreciate your feedback. You know what, I was hoping I could use the +12s as a) the spokes will look better and b) there is a set for sale with tyres with no wait and at a fairly reduced price, but for me it's just not going to happen.

I'm not lipping my guards (questions, do you have to pull the guard liners by lipping?), I can't be bothered doing track days and finding out I've got clearance issues and then having to stop my day and get it fixed and I personallly think there is such a thing as too aggessive. Some of the photos above fit that category for me (the night shot on the orange GTR).

+22s still have the concave look, albeit not quite as aggressive.

There was heaps of point to this thread as for me nobody has been able to convince me +22 is not the way to go considering my preferences and requirements, so I will buy happily now.

Check out the attached blue car from GTROC. This is the look I'm afraid of with +12. These are 18 x 9.5 +15 and remind me a lot of the RE30s I trial fitted with the offset in the teens. Too much.

Silver one is my car with 9 +20 which for me works well.

Try and keep the flaming to a minimum. I'm not trying to have an arguement with you blokes ;)

Your silver R32 looks really nice as it is Nick. ;)

The RE30s don't remind me at all of those rims on the blue R32 tho'

RE30s look fantastic on God_speed's R33 and they'd look great on yours too. Titanium face with silver dish & offset in mid-teens

im seriously over this topic.

op. u asked the sau ppl there opinion about what wheels to get and we told u.

take the advice or dont take the advice quite frankly its up to u and i dont really car.

however, the +12 will look really good where as the +22 will look.....well.....soft. and u dont drive a soft car. it needs aggressive fitment to go with the aggressive nature of the beast (the car)

a tiny lip will not be a physical change on the car, its just rolling the inside up a few mm to make the wheels not scrub.

if u were set on the +22 before u even posted the topic then y did u ask??

that blue car confirms u should go +12 the wheels are sunken, (yes i like agressive fitment) but understanding what you want getting the guards rolled is in no way negative and will not cause any issue to the car apart from give you more clearance which cant be a bad thing can it?

oh and +12 will look better so i dont see the benifit to pay more for worse offsets.

oh and think resale plus +12 are like p0rn people cant get enough

Nick,

The +22 CE28's that I have a spot on for fit and have no issues at the track. I reckon you would even be able to wind more castor on with the +22's as you might find you have more clearance from the guard liner behind the bumper.

I have never heard of anyone here (Victoria) on the track that runs +12's on a R32 GT-R - and I know pretty much everyone who races one.

Go the +22's and you will have the concave look you are after and no niggling doubts about whether you will delaminate a $560 tyre in the first corner you take when it rubs on top of the guard (might even take the guard with it!)

Cheers

Andrew

BB I run 18x10 +12 with 265 rubber on my 32 gtr. Only had to lip the front guards with 3.5degree camber but on the rears I had to flare the guards a bit. Heaps of clearance back to the shocks on the inside of rim both ends.

Wouldn't go this offest it you like your rear guards but it gives you an idea what not to go.

I'm with the other guys and wanted the biggest track width and rims for the cheapest price to run bigger rubber with less sidewall flex.

You won't be running the front guard liners if you want to go fastest as they will rub a lot with 5 - 6 degrees castor. Its really a pay off. Go ok on the track and have a nice car or do a few little mods and get the most out of it. I don't see the point spending big $ on your car and then not lip your guards and remove the liners to go faster. You should be able to fit 10 inch rims and 265 tyres with the right offset if they make them and maybe not even have to lip.

I have some 18x9.5 rims in my backyard but don't know the offset. I could measure offset if you want to try and see what 9.5's will look like or to judge clearance. They sat a fair way in in my guards and I didn't like them but I think they have 235's.

Its easy to see if the wheels going to rub. Spend 5 minutes. Pull the shock out. Jack the lower arm and turn the wheel.

Are you going to run 265 or 245 tyres because that effects the look and chance of rub also?

Interesting. I'm currently running 245 RE55s on the R34 GTR rims which are 9" +30. I also run 265 RE01Rs, whch are a road tire (as i'm sure we all know) and I reckon physically size the same as the RE55s @ 245. I'm told the 9.5" are good for 265 RE55s, so if you wanted to I'd bet you could go higher with road tires. Tyres all have a pretty straight side wall, tapering in a tiny bit.

So, minimum 265 roadies, almost certainly 265 RE55.

    • I got back to Japan in January and was keen to get back on track as quickly as possible. Europe is god-awful for track accessibility (by comparison), so I picked up a first-gen GT86 in December just to have something I could jump into right away. The Skyline came over in a container this time and landed in early January. It was a bit battered after Europe, though—I refused to do anything beyond essential upkeep while it was over there. The clutch master cylinder gave out, and so did the power steering. I didn’t even bother changing the oil; it was the same stuff that went in just before I left Japan the first time. Naughty. Power steering parts would’ve cost double with shipping and taxes, so knowing I’d be heading back to Japan, I just postponed it and powered through the arm workout. It took a solid three months to get the car back on the road. Registration was a nightmare this time around. There were a bunch of BS fees to navigate, and sourcing parts was a headache. I needed stock seats for shaken, mistakenly blew 34k JPY on some ENR34 seats—which, of course, didn’t fit—then ended up having the car’s technical sheet amended to register it as a two-seater with the Brides. Then there’s the GT86. Amazing car. Does everything I want it to do. Parts are cheap, easy to find, and I don’t care what anyone says—it’s super rewarding to drive. I’ve done a few basic mods: diff ratio, coilovers, discs, pads, seat, etc. It already had a new exhaust manifold and the 180kph limiter removed, so I assume it’s running some kind of map. I’ve just been thrashing it at the track non-stop—mostly Fuji Speedway now, since I need something with higher speed after all that autobahn time. The wheels on the R34 always pissed me off—too big, and it was a nightmare getting tires to fit properly under the arches. So I threw in the towel and bought something that fits better. Looks way cleaner too (at least to me)—less hotboy, less attention-seeking. Still an R34, though. Now for future plans. There are a few things still outstanding with the car. First up, the rear subframe needs an overhaul—that’s priority one. Next, I need to figure out an engine rebuild plan. No timeline yet, but I want to keep it economical—not cutting corners, just not throwing tens of thousands at a mechanic I can barely communicate with. And finally, paint. Plus a bit of tidying up here and there.
    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
    • I assume clearances were all a-okay?
