Thanks eric.

Not sure why you think my current radiator is going to blow up? I even got it pressure tested it yesterday and they said its perfect.

I have never had over heating issues either even with that fat 100mm intercooler in the way!

I don't think it will blow up - It's just every track day I got to, I see atleast one or two radiators (non aluminum) give out. More of a safe guard than anything to protect your efforts. Like I said earlier the car is great props.

well she got tuned today and made 398.3hp at all 4 hubs! very happy with it, especially since it was such a hot day today, the midrange has improved alot and the off boost driving is much smoother now, doesnt feel lazy under 3000rpm anymore!

Max torque is now 1000rpm later in the rev range and has increased to 480nm which is what i was aiming for. Max power is slightly shifted later aswell but only by a few hundred rpm. A pair of poncams would help but im going to stick with the stock cams till i have the dosh to get some angry cams in there, most probably when the motor decides to call it a day.

Adjusting the intake cam gear both ways didnt seem to help, it seemed to like it most at 0 but the exhaust got retarded by 2degrees and gained a tiny bit more up top.

Boost comes on at 1.3bar but bleeds down to 1.2bar where it makes max power.

all i can say it well done and i very much enjoyed reading this thread, its easily got some of the sexiest+toughest midnight 33R's ive seen thus far. im very jealous having to stick with my gts-t due to my pathetic excuse of an apprentice income. :ermm:

Looking Good Snozzle. Keep your thread going as long as you can, because you most likely will continue with some mods, just like I have done & still going. It becomes a little addictive after a while.

You've put in some real effort into it.

I am running the Nismo AFM's with the stock airbox & snorkel & don't have any boost/spike problems.

I decided on the standard air box - mostly due to some of the cops here in Melbourne, VIC.

However I am interested in putting a ARC Box in, some time in the future. I think that should be fine, as Victorian Cops like to see boxes, rather than pods.

I got some carbon fibre parts (Front grill, N1 bonnet lip, N1 Front Bar Slots & Nismo Pillar Garnish) in the mail last week & also got my Tomei S/S Dumps.

Only have to get the Tomei Extreme Manifold Kit, Split Fire Coils & HKS Cam Gears now.

Once I have put everything on & have painted my engine covers, I will post some pics.

Cheers

cant wait to see some pics ;)

Thanks man. Yeah i definitely want to run a catch can even if i dont really do any track work but i cant seem to find any good catch tanks that will still retain my windscreen washer bottle.

Ive seen one that looks MINT on another gtr but i cant remember whos it was, it was chrome and had GTR embossed on it which was also polished.

Do you know where i could get a decent catch can setup that will actually work ? Ive kind of left the catch can thing to last as i want to do it once but properly as alot of the setups dont seem to be very effective...

I got Rips in NZ to make mine up..Not cheap but I still earn Japanese yen and got it made up when the Oz & NZ dollars were worth pesos during the GFC.

Yes! thats the exact one im after. Would these cost more than 500 bucks to get made up?

Im going to look into locally fabricating something like this, cheers Mark!

edit: sorry pete, i just realised u posted the link to the same thing already haha

Err these through RIPS are not cheap.

Quality of workmanship is exceptional !!

Like I said I took advantage of exchange rates during the GFC so ended up getting it a good price.

Flick Rob an email for a price.

Hi,

We do them slightly different to that now as we use weld on fittings to take braided or push lock hoses and they have different mounting tags but they are basicly the same (see pictures)

Exactly as it is in the pictures I can do for nzd795 incl shipping, if you want the GTR logo and polish add225.

Regards Rob

I think a JJR one for $249 will do just fine lol

http://www.justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=17416&cat=360&page=1

ive asked justjap for some more photos of the item, if it looks neat ill end up buying this but using higher quality hose/fittings etc

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
