Hicus Removal?

Recommended Posts

It's not just removed for doing skidz, although that does help.. so much easier to change direction without it, whereas before it just wanted to crab up the road.

Car is a lot more stable and predictable with out it (for me at least), but if you're a novice driver you might want to leave it in as it was put there to help inexperienced drivers avoid slamming sideways into trees/poles :)

The arse end of my 32 GTR used to "float" and handled like a pissed dog on wet tiles. As the 21 year old hicas system decided to cut in and out when it wanted to. Not sure what the actual problem was, if it electrical problem or what

Installed a hicas lockout bar for $120 and it handled A1. Would highly recommend it. The installation of the bar and removal of lines is easier then you think.

Also put one in a GTST, well worth it aswell. Car feels so much more predicatable and tighter. Lockbar has been in the GTST for 5 years and no probs

Cheers

Interesting thing about HICAS...I removed it and I *suspect* my car now has a bit of understeer to it when performing low speed manouvres (motorkhanas etc.). I can't turn in as sharply as when I had HICAS installed. That said, I did forget to put my shock settings on firm last time I did motorkhana stuff.

Feels better without HICAS for high speed things though.

I definitely didn't notice that when I removed my HICAS.. I found turn in better and more predictable, could just be because I had more confidence that the back end wasn't going to start doing its' own thing mid corner.

i dont really push it too hard so hicas being there does not bother me , and it works how it should so i guess that is a bonus ;)

my friends r33 always had troubles with hicas so he did benefit from taking it out an installing a lock bar.

i guess it comes down to what you want to do with car and if hicas is functioning properly or not

one time when i pulled out my dash cluster i noticed the previous owner had taken out the bulb for the hicas light (which signals a problem with the hicas) so i plugged in a bulb and of course when i put the cluster back in the light was permanently lit. joy. anyway i sold my hicas computers (the ones on the underside of the parcel tray) to a mate with a gts4.

what should having no hicas computers do to your hicas?? would it make it not work altogether?

im pretty sure it still does work to some extent, one time the car went totally sideways on me while i was doing a u-turn on a busy road and it was fully unintentional so i blame hicas steering the back wheels out. what do u guys reckon?

Does anyone have a link for a difinitive guide for removal of HICAS? With pics and all? (I've done a search but yet to find one with pictures etc)

How hard is it to perform? And what sort of setup is required? Tools etc?

Does anyone know of any performance shops / GTR specialist who offer "HICAS removal" ?

Cheers for any info!
